Stag

The pattern is by Gayle from over at the Scroller's Cafe. I cut this from 2.5mm Bamboo. It's the first time I cut Bamboo and at first I found it a bit splintery but it cuts great, no voids and sands up beautifully. There was hardly any fuzzies at all which is great I hate spending a lot of time sanding them out. I did not stack cut I wanted to see how it cut by itself and I must say, I am impressed. The blades I used are Olsen 2/0 Reverse Tooth. Marg7 points -

For anyone else that is wondering about that set screw adjustment, here is an easy way to do it perfectly, and ensure you are exactly the same for the top and bottom clamps. You can almost do this with your eyes closed. Works on Ex, DW788, and Seyco clamps. 1. Unscrew the set screw from the clamp (doesn't have to be all the way removed, but it should be backed into the clamp so nothing is protruding) 2. Put coin or flat piece of metal in the clamp, then tighten the clamp knob so that the piece of metal is pushed against the far side of the clamp. 3. Now if you screw the set screw back into the clamp until it "hits" that piece of metal, then you know the set screw is perfectly flush. Loosen the clamp, and turn the set screw one half a turn further into the clamp, and you have a perfect, repeatable setting for both the top and bottom clamps.3 points

As more and more of you decide to give the puzzles a try, I figure I'll let you know how my sales are going... Just got home from this weeks farmers market and sold 29 puzzles today, slightly above average. A very broad range of animals purchased today by all of the wonderful folks roaming around the market. Make them, and they will come... And seriously, thanks to those of you who have purchased patterns. It makes me happy that Harvey's patterns are getting a sort of revival right now and are of interest to many of you. Harvey says thanks as well. Iggy2 points

Finally finished this pattern and cutting. I got permission from a friend to use their photo. I finally got the pattern finished and cut out. I found a few adjustments that need to be made to the pattern, and will share it here when I get those made. Cut out of oak ply, and finished with a couple coats of poly. Will make a frame for it when I get a chance.2 points -
Our condo has the mailboxes in the entryway. We have a super nice Lady mail carrier. Her name is Merree (MEree). We invited her in and gave her this. Her eyes immediately watered up. It also has her truck number above the windshield. Because the postal emblem was so fragile, I used a sacrifice board underneath. I cut the emblem out of the sacrifice board and made a pendant for her. As soon as she left, we could hear start to cry just outside the door. Some days it makes what we do worthwhile. jerry1 point

Harvey Byler's SEA TURTLE is one of my top sellers being that they nest here on our beach every year and folks really get into the critters. A couple of months ago I came up with an idea/design and had Harvey draw up one that says CAROLINA BEACH... In the 7 weeks I've been selling it, it's now my top seller. A week ago Saturday I had a customer come up and really liked it and asked if I could do one for the place where they have a summer home... CAPTIVA ISLAND... so I placed the order with Harvey and I cut it today. The customer said they know the guy that runs a gift shop there and they'd show it to him and maybe he'll want to try some in his shop. I hear that a lot, so I never hold my breath. I had the guy that runs the gift shop at a zoo go crazy over my zoo animals. We emailed a couple of times, then he disappeared. Another time I had the head of the Chihuahua rescue group get excited about the Chihuahua puzzle and I offered suggestions such as spelling out RESCUE in the body and then they could sell them (I'd give them a discount) and they could stimulate donations, etc... Never heard from her again... Anyway, here are the original Sea Turtle, the Carolina Beach version and the custom request Captiva Island Iggy1 point

There's a post under "Scroll Saw Reviews" with no responses because there is no reply button. Kevin started a new thread to respond, and it too has no way of replying. The older review threads have lots of responses. Did the settings for that forum get changed somehow with the changeover?1 point

Hi Newfie, I use poplar because I like the color variations in the wood, it adds an added "dimension". I sell them all for $25 each. I thought about charging a little more for some of the more complex ones, but then there are also some that are simpler, so in the end it all evens out.1 point

Thank you all for the great welcome.. Special thanks to Joe M. for the book he sent me , what a great gesture that was. We are leaving in an hour for Ontario to visit our son, (1880 mile drive) will take about 5 days each way pulling our camper. And no computer .Mine caught fire last week & fried. I found a DeWalt 788 Type 1, for sale in Ontario, close to my son's place. Used very little & like new, so my son picked it up for me. I wanted to send him money for it, but he said that was my Father's Day present. It'll be coming home with me, early August. I will be off line till then.. Happy scrolling everyone., John1 point

you won't find a company with better customer service, knowledge of their equipment, & how to fix it. Nicole is top notch with diagnosing issues & helping resolve them, & LOVES her scrolling. I wouldn't deal with anybody else for scroll saws.1 point -

Decorative Basket #4
Smudger reacted to Denny Knappen for a topic
Last week I finished Decorative Basket #5. This week it is #4. Not working backwards, just making the ones I like. The pattern set is by Jerry Crim and purchased from Scroller Online. I used 3/8" Hard Maple and FD UR #1 blades. The basket is approximately 8" round and 2 3/4" high. The finish is spray Shellac. A lot of turning the blank with this project. Comments welcome.1 point -

Finally a project I made for me. I made it out of a piece of car siding that has been laying on my bench for far to long. I was on my way to toss it when I walked past the planner and thought I would see what it looked like after the groove was removed. I added the green felt backer and a saw hook on the back side to hang it. The pattern was a custom order from Sheila Landry designs.1 point

I have mentioned before that I enjoy special orders because they are all different.........this is definitely no exception. My customer said they plan to put it on the floor inside the entry door of their house. I used maple and walnut. The inlay was a challenge for me because the plaque is only 8" long......the lettering is pretty darn small.1 point
