Wacky Shelf
Karl S and 3 others reacted to Denny Knappen for a topic
I finished this project this weekend. The pattern is by Sue Mey and found in CWWC August 2013. I wanted to make this project for some time, but didn't have the right wood. I used 1 1/4" Maple discarded by the local La-Z-Boy chair manufacturer. The trim is 1/8" Walnut and the backing is Red Oak plywood. I used FD Polar #9 blades and finished with spray Shellac. Ideal for displaying small items. Any ideas? Comments welcome.4 points -

This is a pattern by Thomas Mullane Jr. I made this one for my son who calls his property "Eagles Nest" .The actual cutting is made from marine ply with a fruitwood stain, which I applied with an air brush to reach all the fine bits. The frame is made from pallets to give it a rustic look .the final finish is satin spray varnish ,Quite pleased with this one.2 points

I HAVE A TRACKING NUMBER!!!! UPS delivery scheduled for Friday... Yippee! Yahoo!! I probably won't get it early enough to play with it Friday so I'll have to wait til after the farmers market on Saturday to set it up and have some fun. P.S. the part that was causing the problem was the table... not a moving part, so I'm not concerned. They had a new company start making the tables and there was a slight problem which has been resolved.2 points

The link I provided above is to a guy in America that sells Volker Arnold patterns. Not sure if one place or the other is cheaper, the ones I purchased were sent via email, so no postage. Maybe the only difference in the exchange rate of the monies.1 point

No I don't. But it can lead to some beautiful works of art if you keep pursuing it. Just adds to my list of styles of scroll sawing I'd like to try. I noticed though that many that are out there are laser cut and they are proud to state it. Oh well!1 point -

Sorry it wasn't a good sales day for you Tony. Maybe you can add some beer stein and pretzel puzzles to the mix to attract the Pub crowd.1 point

Yes, I figured if there were more grandchildren - more cap racks would be needed. Its so nice that you are designing them to "fit" their likes. I am sure this one will also be a hit. More grandchildren to go? Thanks for sharing.1 point

Sales are consistent if nothing else...
Phantom Scroller reacted to Iguanadon for a topic
No reason to start another thread for these... 2 new breeds cut this week... Chin (Japanese) and Vizsla. I get requests for unusual breeds now and again and what I do is tell them I don't have one with me but I do offer them. I give them my card and ask them to email me and I'll make one, send them a picture and if they like it they can buy it, but no obligation. They never bother emailing, but if I get someone else at another time asking for the same breed I'll order the pattern from Harvey and cut one for display. Chin and Vizsla are prime examples... I've had 3 people ask for each of those in the past month, so I'll put 'em out on display and see if anyone else comes asking.1 point
