    A few more done

This summer has been the pits her in Canada's capital, so not much time on the golf course but I can always go and make some sawdust. Got 2 more cheese cutters done and a Poodle Wood used for the cheese cutters are : Walnut, Maple Mahogany and Zebra wood. I applied 3 coats of bees wax buffing between each coat, ready for some cheese. Poodle was cut using oak and painted black for show.

    My Mini Sunflowers

After making the 2ft sunflowers, someone asked for a smaller version, these are just 101/2" in diameter, constructed the same as the 2ft ones except I had to plane down a board to 3/8" to cut out the brown centers otherwise it would of looked too chunky.......green leaves are 1/4" luan......spray can paint for all...... I think they brighten my yard up some..... comments always welcome. Thank You

  5. I'm literally soaked from head to toe, but it is assembled and it turns on (very important LOL) I'll test it later once I replace a couple gallons of fluids.

  6. We have delivery! Santa just arrived in his big brown truck. First impressions... it's very red and it's VERY heavy. LOL And it's 95 degrees in my garage right now... not pleasant to be assembling a saw, but I'll keep working on it.

  7. My cousin in Michigan is selling these fast,I cut 5 last time and now she wants 8 that's all my saw will cut at once,5 hours cut time with various blades #9 scroll reverse worked best but breaks on turns. That's all i could stand then lay down. The pieces not cut out yet have pin nails holding it together.

    Wacky Shelf

I finished this project this weekend. The pattern is by Sue Mey and found in CWWC August 2013. I wanted to make this project for some time, but didn't have the right wood. I used 1 1/4" Maple discarded by the local La-Z-Boy chair manufacturer. The trim is 1/8" Walnut and the backing is Red Oak plywood. I used FD Polar #9 blades and finished with spray Shellac. Ideal for displaying small items. Any ideas? Comments welcome.

    Another cap rack.

Since I made my one granddaughter a cap rack I definitely had to do the same for her sister. She likes mandalas so I included one in her cap rack.

  12. I agree with your statement but I don't think that is what is going on with General and the EX. Since the basic saw is already in production under different brand names my guess is that the manufacturer hit General with a significant price increase or an increase in the minimum order size (or both). If General is struggling to maintain profitability that would force them to reevaluate carrying a tool that is somewhat niche market and one that has many lower-priced alternatives. If we see a return to a healthier economy they could decide to bite the bullet and reintroduce the product.

    Simple Cap Rack

My grand daughters are nuts about cats so I made this cap rack especially for one of them. Simple design but she loves it. I counter sunk holes behind the outside hooks to mount it to the wall.

    Cutting

Depends on how much sugar I had on my cheerios. Clockwise, counterclockwise, whatever feels good at the time.

  21. What bothers me is the noise a shop vac makes at the end of the hose at the point of dust going into the hose. It's so loud and shrill. I would like to see some pictures of what you guys are doing with dust collection on your saws. I am always interested in a better way. Here is what I do. It's not perfect. I added this box underneath later. Some one here suggested I do it. The metal strap connects to a rare earth magnet to hold the front of the box up.

  22. I use a Festool vac and have pickups for the dust above and below the table. I use Loc Line adjustable pick up on top so I can keep the pick up out of the way but close to the blade. The Festool and Fein are designed for continuous use and are quiet. Yes, they are not cheap but are HEPA rated. Dust collection is best done as close to the source as possible. I am not a fan of the fans with a filter on them as you push fine dust in the air and will be breathing it.
