  1. I have been seeing handles for drinking glasses but had not seen one for the standard sized Dixie Cups. You know those Red, Blue , Yellow ones. The ones you see a lot at parties. Well I designed a holder for one. I made it out of some scrap 3/4 BB ply. Sealed it with Teak Oil and then shellac. DW

  2. I've enjoyed cutting the couple of puzzles from this pattern Iggy posted a few days ago.. Then I thought.. just because it's a puzzle pattern doesn't mean it has to end up as a puzzle.. If one likes the design of these puzzles.. but puzzles really aren't your thing.. keep in mind.. designs can be modified for various other things.. I made this into a desk clock.. but one could make it as a leash holder, key rack etc etc.. There are a bunch of these wonderful puzzle designs on Iggys web site... I think I will be placing a nice order for several of these patterns in the future.. Can't think of the web site's off the top of my head where these patterns can be bought but I am sure Iggy will post it in a reply shortly.. Thanks Iggy for offering this pattern up for us to try..

    Bragging for Harvey

I just received 2 new patterns from Harvey that I asked him to create based on a casual request someone made about a month ago. I sent him a rough outline for each and this is the end result... I think they're fabulous. Available to buy if interested. He has other sport themed ones as well but he had never done any for soccer. You can see his others here. http://www.woodenteddybearonline.com/x/home.php?cat=1007

    Good deal on wood

I was in Lowes yesterday buying wood and bought what I would have believed to be the worst piece of oak ever on the rack. It was 4' long and 10" wide (9.5) but I only needed 45" and about 8" wide. Took some measurements with my tape measure and found that every defect in this board could be cut out for the project I was doing. Talked to one of the representatives and he took 30% off the price. Showed my military ID at the check out, and got another 10%. Already have it cut to sizes I need, and every piece I'm cutting is perfect. I think I got a pretty good deal on the wood. wish I would have took photos of that board, but I'll post photos of finished product.

I am so new, my scroll saw machine hasn't even arrived yet! So total NEWBIE, to scroll sawing, and extremely interested in learning. In waiting on my machine to arrive, I searched YouTube and found Scroll Saw Goodies page, and enjoyed the tutorials. I knew I just had to join this site and learn from the best. Originally from the great state of IOWA, but during my active duty service in Germany, I met a German girl. Well, that is the end of that long story. So anyway, I now live in Germany, but with my global travels, I get back home now and then to visit family/friends. My goals are to not only learn how to use my saw machine, but to combine it with other hobbies to end up with unique products.

  6. Hello everyone My name is Jean-claude I'm a craftsman baker pastry chef in Rouen in Normandy And as the retreat approaches, I go back to the scroll saw that I practiced more than 35 years ago and that the overwork of work had stopped me then, I leave almost to zero, Buy an EX 21 I've been watching the forum for several months, which I find very enriching and I finally decide to introduce myself with my poor English see you soon

  7. so it will sit 90 years on the shelf. I can remember that song as a kid. This is a Steve Good pattern that I did an inlay instead of an overlay like the plans called for. Made of cherry and walnut.

I am so amazed by the TALENT that is in this group!!!! After looking through the galleries and samples, wow... scares the living daylights out of me. If I can learn half of what you all have already forgotten, I will be doing great. !

  9. I've been able all these years to enlarge patterns and words but for the life of me i can't enlarge some words to fit in a space 10.5" x11' ="Live happy healthy and free".The letters need to be horizontal instead of vertical with spaces between each and at the beginning and at the end.No quotation marks.

  10. I just left Harvey a voicemail asking him to call me in the next day or two to discuss those "ornament" combo's. I'll have him send me a sample and I'll let you know when I have it and can email it to you to take a look at.

  11. I was talking about softening the corners. I never worry about the cut edges as you say the cut is very smooth. I just wouldn't want some kid to get a splinter.

  12. Yep, here is an example of the ornament and it also comes with a pattern on a base... I'm going to have to speak to Harvey about these and their availability. I'll try to get an example one from him that I can share with everyone to know what they look like. http://www.woodenteddybearonline.com/x/product.php?productid=3286&cat=&page=1

  13. Outstanding Kevin! I think Harvey offers the dog patterns in small versions as ornaments that are one piece rather than a puzzle. This is along those same lines and I love it. Wow, those could be big sellers. Purchase your Harvey Byler patterns at www.WoodcraftByScott.com

    Upgrading Software

I finished the upgrade. Everything looks to be in place. Some of the colors are a bit wonky, so I'll fiddle around with that as I get a chance. One cool new feature, instead of the Like button, we now have a heart button. If you hover over it, you can choose different kinds of "likes" like Thanks, Ha Ha, Confused, Sad, and Heart. I think they added a few other features too, that I'll look at closer as I get the chance.

I was trying to remember when I got my Type one but not certain I think it was in the late 90's on sale at Lowes. I started with a little two speed Dremel which started after being out of job at the time of Military base closures and help through a depressive time. Then moved on to the dewalt because I wanted to do fret work but had to use pin end blades. The Dewalt opened a whole new world and addiction to scroll sawing.
