    Horse head and shoe.

The wood for the cutting is flooring scrap. I used a FD #5 spiral blade for the inside head cuttings and a FD #5 reverse for the rest of it. Mounted on a wood slab. John Old Dust

    Trucking

Been off the radar for a few weeks. Had a family visit from Germany for a month. Lots of traveling and sightseeing. The saw was calling me. My brother in law used to drive a Peterbuilt in Germany and found a plan in the pattern library and started cutting. He's taking it back with him this week to hang in his office.

    Yesterday's craft fair

Here is a picture of my setup from yesterday's craft fair. It was a beautiful spring day which being an indoor event perhaps limited footfall a bit but I enjoyed myself and made a decent profit. Iggy's dog non-puzzles were popular. I can see myself ordering some more patterns. Rob

  6. Not sure if it's like a wave, a few have said it reminds them of a wave but anyway it's really neat, was going to put it on a neon background but it didn't work IMO.... Cut from oak kitchen cabinet door. Lost daylight had to use flash...added a alight pic

  8. actually there are simply hung by 19 gauge wire from a nail at the top of the wall that is driven into a half inch piece of wood that runs the length of the cafes wall. The owner did not want people anchoring over and over in his wall for obvious reasons. So I staggered them in length so I could get more pieces in. I have a wire going from the sawtooth hanger to the nail and I also placed two screw eyelet things on either side of the top of the piece and strung wire through that as well for safety reasons...its not pretty but I did not want a piece of my heavy art crashing on a customer....LOL.. I went today and spent an hour or so and as soon as I walked in there were two customers talking about the pieces and one of the staff indicated they should ask the artist, he just walked in. Later the owner made an announcement and it was pretty cool . Lots of folks talking to me about my pieces and that they have not seen or heard such a buzz in the restaurant about the artist of the month that has been going on for several years now. Young boy 11 years old admired the Yoda piece I made, he left a happy 11 year old boy...all in all it was really fun.

  9. I am... At a cool little breakfast and brunch cafe in my local town of new Westminster just outside of Vancouver. I hung 16 pieces up this morning before it opened to customers. Lots of interest after day one. Wicked comments, gonna go have brunch in the morning to hang out, going to go solo and hang out at the breakfast bar... I have enough pieces to rotate stock all month...

  10. I finished the birthday gifts for my daughter-in-law and son-in-law. These were a total surprise to both of them and the expressions on their faces were a gift to me. What a blessing it is to be able to pour your time into a gift that really matter. Both of these were done in cherry with Watco oil followed by wipe-on poly. The Police plaque finish gave me all kinds of problems and required significant sanding to even out the finish before the final two finish coats. I think I have finally figured out how to work with this finish but I need to reserve that claim for the next plaque. Bruce

    Bob's Trivet

I finally got my saw going a little better. It still clunks along but works. I did this trivet pattern Bob posted a short time ago. Thanks for the pattern Bob. I used Spalted Cherry my brother gave me.

    Well.... Crap

SAVED!!!! By who else, but Harvey Byler himself! I left him a voicemail last night asking him if he kept track of when I called in custom orders. Hoping that he maybe kept a log or record and could tell me what day I placed the order for the mysterious Iguana named Buddy. Well, today he called me and left me a voicemail as I didn't hear my phone ring while out on the beach and he told me he didn't know the exact date but that I had mentioned in my message to him that I was at a friends house... and DING DING DING I remembered... the friends I was staying with during my big event in Cary... it was her! She asked for it and that's why I didn't have an order sheet. I had simply called Harvey as soon as she asked for it and then over the course of the 2 day mega event and then my business trip, I completely forgot about it. Good ol' Harvey... saved me! Too funny.

This is a picture I've wanted to do for a long time. I first saw it on Pinterest, liked it so much I saved the picture. I could not find who did the pattern. I had made up my mind that if I couldn't find the pattern, I was going to use the picture as a pattern. A couple weeks ago I was looking at Alex Fox's patterns and there is was! I purchased the pattern. Finished cutting it today. It is cut in 5/8" popular. Not a difficult pattern to cut.

  17. I have gotten a kick out of all the Harvey Byler patterns that Iggy (Scott) and some of you have been posting.....I purchased these three from Scotts site....I wanted to cut some for Kids 31/2 to 6 yrs old and thought that they might travel better and be easier for the young folks to work with if they had a surround rather than free standing.....anyway this is my take....cut from 3/4 poplar and pine with 1/8 BB backers painted bright colors......The kids seem to like them and I hope you guys do too.......Cut with FDUR #5 and #3 blades.......Steve.

    Hi New Scroller from Australia

Hi all, I decided to have a look around and sign up. I am an experienced scroller with over 25 years hunched over my now very old Delta Q3 which I bought new. I have made just about everything possible with my scrollsaw, including large intricate clocks, boxes, signs, segmentation etc, and a few that people said were not possible, like my current build a full sized Dalek, nearly six feet tall when finished, all cut out with a scrollsaw and a few hand tools. Here are a couple of things I have made over the years. The Chimes of Normandy Clock stands 1metre (3 feet) tall, and the Egyptian segmentation work is about the same wide. Muzz

    Show anniversiry

Asked Don at Old Crow scroll works to help me out here on this one. This is a show we have done for 10 years and really have a great time. Since this was their 50th anniversary I wanted to make something for them. Cut and gave this to them when we got there. They put it up by the beer booth where the music was and dancing going on. Got a kick out of it and they really enjoyed it a bunch. Thanks to Don for all his help. jim penquin

    Thanks to Iggy

I ordered some of Iggy's non puzzle patterns last week and got them this morning. I know he has been frantically busy with his two day event over the weekend and then a three day business trip but somehow he found time to handle my meagre order in the midst of all that. He provided a great service and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone thinking of placing an order. Here are the first two I cut today... Many thanks Scott !! Rob

    Dart Board Cabinet

A few weeks back I posted pictures of a dart board cabinet I made for my oldest son. He picked it up today and has it hanging in his game room. Some of you asked to see it with the board in it so here it is.

He looks appropriately penitent! LOL My one regret in life is that we didn't start owning Labs until I was 52. My yellow (Murphy) and black (Jake) have been the most outstanding dogs ever. Superb companion dogs and superb hunting dogs. All in all, I am in love with the breed!

    A possibility

To my eye, you have already posted a pattern. 1. Print it. 2. With a pencil, finish the front of the tusks. 3. If I were cutting it, I would take a pen or pencil and draw scribbly lines for the bridges.
