    Look what I got!

Picked this up at an auction for $200! It has never been used. NO dust inside it and the tools an spindles are still in the sealed bags. Also the power cord is still done up with the factory tie. The stand and cover came with it. The top still has the factory stuff on it to keep rust from forming on it. A Dr. was going to get into woodworking an had the money to buy the best but didn't have the time. I am just the other way around LOL.

    PVC Lamps

PVC Lamps Hello friends, I present one of my last works. I made them with PVC tubes 4 " Cut in half, and hand crafted with bow. Because there is not enough space for the bench press. I did not use Dremel, as it is I have no possibility of purchase. I hope you like the idea. Greetings and hugs to everyone from Puebla, Mexico.

Loved this pattern when I saw it in Paul's (Scrappile) gallery when I first joined last year. Pattern by Tom Mullane. Finally got the nerve up to cut it. 12 1/2 X 17 inches, stack cut three in 1/8th " BB ply. Jeff

    Baseball Plaque

This is one of Steve Goods pattern I just finished today. Made out of 3/4 Oak and measures 10 x 7. Took a few hours to do because of the thickness of the Oak. I used a #5 blade on this with no problem. Not sure how much to charge for them. I was thinking about $60.00. Not sure if that's to much or not enough.

  7. I was asked to do a car show tomorrow, never done one before, as I do have a lot of cars in stock, my wife insisted that I do a car show we will see how it goes. My son in law has a 68 Roadrunner, which he will be taking there, and his friend has a 65 Mustang which he will also be there. I figure I would give it a try. edward

    New Dust Collector

Well not exactly new since I had it connected previously. It is now moved to a shelf above the garage. Attached are a couple of photos. Now it is just collecting from my lathe. I plan on putting in a gate to collect from the scroll saw. I'm putting my unused Dust Deputy up for sale on Craig's List. Anyone in Denver want a $50 Dust Deputy?

  11. Alright, I'd love everyone's thoughts and feedback. Looking into doing names... my artist for this is... Mrs. Iggy. Orangeman and I were discussing a couple of days ago and I had happened to see a video online recently showing the design being done in Inkscape and Mrs. Iggy is a computer graphic artist so I challenged her to learn how to do it. She watched some tutorial videos and she was off and running. I'm imagining coming up with maybe 6 different style/fonts and offering as a solid piece or as a puzzle. I actually prefer the solid piece option, but since I sell puzzles I figured I'd offer it as an option. I cut these 4 this morning and I plan on displaying them at my 2 day event this weekend and see if there's any interest. Iggy

  13. I made the modification in the video to correct the front to back angle of the blade in my 788, and not to change the aggressiveness of the cut, although it may also help slightly with this. I do mostly compound cutting, so any side to side or front to back blade angle causes problems for me. Ideally, I would like the blade to be exactly 90 degrees to the table in all directions. Because the upper and lower blade arms of a DeWalt 788 and similar designed saws actually move in a slight arc, you can adjust the motor position to move the blade movement range slightly up or down, which may reduce the front to back shifting of the blade slightly , but you can't completely eliminate it in any saw that uses pivoting arms to move the blade. I would own an Eclipse saw, if it was still available, because the blade in it moved perfectly straight up and down. No saw with a swinging arm blade movement can move the blade perfectly straight up and down. There will always be a slight forward - back movement. of the blade as it moves, which is larger in saws with longer blade arms. The Delta Q3 has a "rocking C" blade arm where the blade is attached between the two ends of the C frame and the pivot point of the C is at the back end of the saw. As the C frame pivots up and down, the blade tips forward on the down stroke and backward on the up stroke, making for a very aggressive cut, but this rocking motion also makes it very difficult to do compound cutting in thick materials. However, it is great and much faster cutting than most saws when cutting materials up to about 3/8". Above this thickness, the forward - backward movement at both ends of the blade motion begin to interfere when doing compound cutting So there are saws that do one type of cutting better than others, and it will depend on the type of cutting as to which is best for you and what you make. It will also depend on how well the saw is adjusted. When following the video, all he is doing is adjusting the front-to-back angle of the blade very slightly. If it solves your need...great! Turning the motor slightly will make the blade up and down movement range a little higher or lower. In it's center, the blade movement forward and back will be the least. Move it significantly up or down and you will get more front-to-back blade movement. Again, it depends on what you are cutting as to which setting will be best for you. Charley

  14. Over the past 15 months I've had various folks speak to me at my booth saying they'd love to stock my puzzles at a local zoo, or a dog rescue is interested in buying them for the people that adopt dogs, etc, etc, etc. The first couple of times, I got rather excited about the possibilities, but as each one never materialized into anything, I no longer get excited. The latest one was a month ago a woman started talking about a business she was going to be starting up having to do with customizing furniture and she though my puzzles would be great as little decor items... Uh-huh, yeah, right, sure, I've heard it all before... but this time she actually followed thru and came by my house today and ended up walking out with 25 puzzles. She's also going to be offering paint classes and decided to do one for kids using my kids puzzles made from pine. I'm selling to her at "wholesale" and she's going to put them for sale at the same price I sell them for at the location she'll have. I warned her that I've had them in stores before and they didn't do well because they had to be packaged up and people couldn't get the full experience, so she's going to keep one unwrapped allowing people to touch and feel. We'll see if it turns into anything, but hey, she decided to buy them outright, upfront rather than just stocking them and paying me as they sold. The kids puzzles to be painted, she will place an order with me once she has a class signed up and knows which animals she wants. If this works out, it might create some sales during the slow winter months.

    Special order.

A good customer brought me a picture and asked if I could make a scroll saw plaque out of it. Really simple but I thought it was cute.

  16. That is well cut. Like the Oak. With the Yankees name on it won't get much here in Canada. (I am in Blue Jay's country LOL) It is on my bucket list to do this. I am not going to put on a team name but add a row of shaker pegs for hanging of ribbons. The kids all get ribbons with team sports. I currently do my own design and add the kids name. (Hockey, soccer, softball) I may do the same with Steve's pattern. Steve has a football and a hockey sign. I don't normally sell but I got $50 for my ribbon holders. FYI here is a sample

  17. Thanks to bobscroll for this wonderful pattern I found this pattern in the pattern library. I reduced the pattern to fit an 8" square piece of 1/2" Butternut. It is approximately 7 1/2" in diameter. The blades were FD UR #1 and #5. The finish is one coat of sanding sealer, sanded, and two coats of spray polyurethane. Comments welcome.

    Trivet on Stand

The pattern is by Sue Mey and purchased from her website. I modified the pattern by eliminating the slots and tabs and gluing the base directly onto the bottom of the trivet. I used 1/2" Hard Maple approximately 8" square. The base is 1/4" Red Oak 1 1/4" high. I used FD UR #1 and #5 blades. The finish is one coat of sanding sealer and one coat of spray shellac. Comments welcome.

  29. My mom sent a large box of books/photos with a request for jigsaw puzzles, some for her and some for her to give to a friend. I've just started scratching the surface, but here are 10 Amish puzzles from a photo book by Bill Coleman. Four of them in individual boxes made from Chakte Viga, and the other six are in double-boxes made from oak/walnut, leopardwood, and purple heart/eucalyptus. You'll have to use your imagination, as I am not going to reassemble the puzzles just to take a pic. The other box (tan oak) with four compartments holds a set of 8 flower-themed puzzles from, I think, Manet paintings. They are smaller, so I chose two puzzles with similar colors/backgrounds for each compartment to be assembled together. Not pictured are four Normal Rockwells and a set of 3 small Amish puzzles, and something with a cat that I will be building boxes for once I decide on a box style - I don't want to just build the same box over and over.

  31. A lot more questions than answers at this point. She took a mix of everything to start with and we'll see what, if anything, sells and I'll likely replace sold items and then if she wants to stock duplicates or broaden what she wants to show and display, we'll figure it out. Fortunately I'm very well stocked right now but a lot of events coming up between now and December 9th.

  32. Just my two cents--Iggy what is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. Sounds like buy a dewalt junk dewalt buy dewalt junk dewalt. I have had a EX21 for 7 years without any major problems. For sure not bad enough to send away. You can't beat Ray Seyco for service. What is the old saying "try it you might like it ". Now I will get off my soapbox.

  33. My only thought, that wasn't mentioned, is your blade square to the table and how much does it move during its stroke? I don't know how to adjust this on your saw but I am sure someone can help figure it out. Start with some of the easy fixes like checking the blades and securing the saw to the table.
