  3. I wasn't sure if it's hard wood at first glance but looked it over and thought some company went thru a lot of trouble to make this as everything is built into it ,leaves flip out extensions etc S the next day i planed a piece and it's oak! Urica !Now i have plenty of nice oak,and did this cross from it 3/4 "thick and 4 ware houses got flooded in 6 " water across from me.

Made just to see what I could do! Walnut, cherry and the T-Rex is oak! And some unknown hard woods too. Cords are all rawhide.

  6. Hi everyone, I wanted to put these on again to show Wayne who wanted to see a Red Sox one but of course I had to put a Yankee one on to. I want to thank Gordie again for doing these patterns for me. There made out of Oak with a 1/8 B/B backer.

  8. I cut a 2 day event short by packing up at the end of the day today for a couple of reasons today. Number 1 is that there was supposed to be 2 booths between me and a food vendor, but ended up with nobody between us, which would have been fine, but... he was running a very loud generator for his operations and I had to listen to it for 10 hours and couldn't take it any longer. The venue folks were great, they tried to help by putting bales of hay around it to try to buffer the noise and it helped, but it was still crazy loud and annoying. I told the organizer I wouldn't be back for day 2 and she offered to move me to a new spot, but I kindly declined and she said she'd give me a discount for the booth rental fee at the next event I sign up with them. Sales were "good" today, but not great. If it hadn't been for the director of the plantation house (and stables and farm) where the event was held asking me if I sell wholesale and then buying 8 puzzles to put in her gift shop, today would have been sub-par. And unless it's a mega event... no more 2 day events for Iggy. The 2nd day is always much less in my experience, so it just isn't worth it financially as well as losing an entire weekend. Mrs. Iggy wants to go to it tomorrow to browse and shop, so I'll be a customer for day 2. :-)

    Shapes and colors

I made these for my 2-year old granddaughter. I plan to add more as she masters the shapes. These are scrap poplar from puzzles and I added a magnet to the backs to stick on the refrigerator.

  10. Hi I'm Kathy. I've been scrolling for fun for about 8 years. I'm a truck driver and haven't had much time to do this lately. Hoping to get back into it though. I wanted to find someone in here that makes patterns from pictures as I want one done of my bike, pictured here. Nothing to complicated but not too easy, if that makes sense. I am a member of another scroll saw site and heard this one is pretty good

  12. Hi everyone. I just finished this piece yesterday. This is a sample I made for a friend of mine. I want to thank Gordie for sending me the pattern plus a couple more he sent me. This one is made out of 3/4 Oak with a 1/8 B/B background. I know there colors are black and gold but I didn't want to take away from the Oak and paint it. I'll do one more out of pine and paint it black and gold and see which one looks better. Well I took Waynes advice and did this one with a black backer.

  13. Wow, Think about that. A $1500 saw and they give you a list to trouble shoot? I'm thinking that's a non starter. Mark

    Hi from the uk

Good afternoon and hello from the uk. My name is Steve and found this site by pure chance from being on Steve Good's website. My interest in scrolling started many, many years ago and started out with just a cheapy saw from b&q. After a year or so and struggling with doing a lot of what a liked to do I decided to purchase a much bigger saw. Purchased a diamond scrollsaw which were handmade in the uk by a small manufacturing company who unfortunately are no longer in business. I have had the machine for about 10 years now and still absolutely love it. Recently got back into scrolling and am glad to say that I am enjoying it more now than I ever did. Hope to be of some help on this site and will try to be an active member. Cheers guys and gals. PS loving all of your work that I have seen so far. A few pics of some of my recent works are below. Am on instagram as @sawdustisfun if anyone wants to see my work. Cheers

  16. As my herd of animals keeps growing that I display at shows, I had run out of room in the grey tote bin I'd been using to haul them to events. I was having to eliminate some animals that weren't big sellers and I hated doing that so I bought a shiny new blue bin today that will hold about 30-50% more... but then I may not be able to lift it. LOL In the old tote bin, I was using cardboard as dividers to lay the puzzles on but I didn't have any boxes laying around to make new ones, so I bought an 8'x4' piece of material, it's like pegboard but without the holes, and I cut it into pieces the right size for the bin. I need to get some more. I was able to make 9 dividers and need 3 or 4 more. But seriously, I do have to be careful not to make it so heavy I can't lift it.

  21. Maybe you are on to something iggy if you get it dialed in maybe let the hawk people know everything you had to do and suggest to them a list for troubleshooting I think with all the cats in here you all could come up with a rather comprehensive list
    1 point
  22. Yeah, a list of "Things to Check and Calibrate" would be nice to have with the saw out of the box. I don't mind adjusting, I just have to know how/what to adjust. There are dozens of little things I wouldn't even know are adjustable. But I've had good luck with my 4 DeWalt's... pull out of the box, bolt onto the stand, slap a blade in it and start cutting.

  25. So, here is a section of the layout map from the event. When I received it and reviewed it, I was pretty happy with my location. Near the food trucks and bouncy house... decent foot traffic. But... in reality what happened was I did get some foot traffic from that as expected, however the majority of the shopping foot traffic followed along the red lines, the major rows of vendors, and I got a lot of what I refer to as the "neck crane" passersby... as they're making the turn at the corner, they kind of look over, crane their neck to see "what's down there?" and 90% of the time they turn the corner and just keep walking along the primary row. I think I've also learned a lesson... At some events, on the application, they ask if you want access to electricity and I usually check the box saying yes because I like to be able to shrink wrap any display puzzles that are purchased. But, that then limits the number of places they will place me because only so many vendor spots are near electrical outlets. I need to just say No to that question and be placed in the main vendor area(s). I have other bags that I use with a twist tie for events in which they don't offer electricity and I'd rather have a more prime location.

  26. Iggy, Kind of like the front desk gives you a room next to the elevator and ice machine and then you realize your are on the highway side of the hotel.

  27. It was funny Roly, when I received the layout map a few days ahead of the event, I was happy to see 2 food trucks nearby to draw foot traffic over... until I got there yesterday morning and they kicked on their generators. Never again. LOL

  43. I did take the time to read about Ray. I had never run across his name until I saw his chess pattern and was unable to find him by googling his name. Luckily I found it because of all you wonderful people here on the Village. I found Ray's story and time of his life to parallel mine and was hoping to be able to talk with his daughter or son about him. That did not work well . But I finally got on their web site and downloaded the order form and mailed my pattern request in to them. I am in hopes that I will receive my pattern either today or Monday so I can get started on the chess board. I love to support the loved ones of people like Ray who keep their talents alive for others and I will buy patterns from them, even if I have no desire for the pattern at the time, in hopes it will keep the family encouraged to continue to pass on to others the work of the deceased. Thanks again for your help and I will post my progress on this board as I go along. I am very anxious to start on it. It looks like the outcome will be worth the effort for sure. Dick heppnerguy

  48. Hot off the internet presses... a new video I filmed today at my farmers market showing my setup in more detail. I'll send it to Steve Good as well and see if he thinks it's worthy of showing on his site.

  49. This can be a tough problem to solve. It can be the machine, the blade or the user. If it's the machine well being new there is a warranty. If it is the user, touchy subject. If you install the blade upside down it can cause this. Blades are designed to cut on the down stroke. This applies pressure to keep the wood down. Knowing what blades you are using can help with this. As for the blade option once again would need to know more information. Reverse blades cut on the down and up stroke. Regular blades cut on the down stroke. I'm trying to keep this basic to help. If you can provide more information you may get better results for your question. Being new we all have suffered growing pains . This I state from personal experience
