    Garapa Wood

I picked up a piece of garapa were I get my wood. They were out of yellow heart and first time having this type in stock. Just a bit darker than yellow heart but cuts a lot harder. This cross I have made in the past using only two blades. To cut it this time using garapa wood it took 9 blades (#5 pegas mg) and wanted to burn worst than cherry. I didn't think I was going to get it resawed from 4/4 to 2/4 even with a new band saw blade. Won't be buying anymore of this unless to make a box or something that doesn't take a lot of fret cutting. It is a Sue Mey pattern, almost forgot.

    Shapes and colors

I made these for my 2-year old granddaughter. I plan to add more as she masters the shapes. These are scrap poplar from puzzles and I added a magnet to the backs to stick on the refrigerator.

    OOOPS Did it Again

In another post I told about the good deal I got on a Jet spindle sander. Well went to another auction an picked up this craftsman rotary tool bench for $5.00. There was talk about them a few months back an I was going to make one but never got around to it. The auctioneer and other people didn't know what it was. I am going to mount my bench top router, bench top 6" jointer and a down draft sanding box on it. It is going to save a bunch of space in shop. Also at same auction I picked up a very well build 4'x6' work bench for $25.00.

  9. Rescued 40, 3 foot, 3 inch by 3/4 inch Japanese cherry hardwood flooring today. 95% of my materials are free but at times I make a buy like this when the wood is hard to get or expensive. About 6o sq feet from a re- use it store. 20$. First item i made was this celtic pendant that absolutely had gorgeous colours. I gotto two out of the cut. The wood is beautiful. Can't wait to see what I am going to make... Tonight I cut this wind battered tree from this same Japanese cherry, it's hard wood for sure. Wood database doors not have it listed though, so I can't find the janka hardness. This tree is gonna look wild when it's done I think as the collars are gonna pop with tung oil

    Hi from the uk

Good afternoon and hello from the uk. My name is Steve and found this site by pure chance from being on Steve Good's website. My interest in scrolling started many, many years ago and started out with just a cheapy saw from b&q. After a year or so and struggling with doing a lot of what a liked to do I decided to purchase a much bigger saw. Purchased a diamond scrollsaw which were handmade in the uk by a small manufacturing company who unfortunately are no longer in business. I have had the machine for about 10 years now and still absolutely love it. Recently got back into scrolling and am glad to say that I am enjoying it more now than I ever did. Hope to be of some help on this site and will try to be an active member. Cheers guys and gals. PS loving all of your work that I have seen so far. A few pics of some of my recent works are below. Am on instagram as @sawdustisfun if anyone wants to see my work. Cheers

    Freedom & Tears

Saw this pattern by Sasho the other day and had to do it simple yet different and the crying woman I also liked but cannot remember where or how I came across it , Both frames used are saved from the tip I do like to recycle when I can.

  18. I cut a 2 day event short by packing up at the end of the day today for a couple of reasons today. Number 1 is that there was supposed to be 2 booths between me and a food vendor, but ended up with nobody between us, which would have been fine, but... he was running a very loud generator for his operations and I had to listen to it for 10 hours and couldn't take it any longer. The venue folks were great, they tried to help by putting bales of hay around it to try to buffer the noise and it helped, but it was still crazy loud and annoying. I told the organizer I wouldn't be back for day 2 and she offered to move me to a new spot, but I kindly declined and she said she'd give me a discount for the booth rental fee at the next event I sign up with them. Sales were "good" today, but not great. If it hadn't been for the director of the plantation house (and stables and farm) where the event was held asking me if I sell wholesale and then buying 8 puzzles to put in her gift shop, today would have been sub-par. And unless it's a mega event... no more 2 day events for Iggy. The 2nd day is always much less in my experience, so it just isn't worth it financially as well as losing an entire weekend. Mrs. Iggy wants to go to it tomorrow to browse and shop, so I'll be a customer for day 2. :-)

    Hi from the uk

Welcome Steve, it's nice to see a few more Brits on the village. I briefly had a Diamond saw too but unfortunately got rid of it as we were short of space in our shipping container when emigrating to NZ. Wish I still had it though. Rob
