    Sea Turtle

Just took this off the saw a little while ago. Showing my wife some patterns and this is the only one she has ever requested I cut for her. I was glad she did because I love this pattern. It was difficult because the piece of wood I selected to cut it in was difficult. Not sure what it is, but not one of the easiest woods I have cut. But I made it. It is an Alex Fox pattern. Several on here have cut it. Great pattern as is all of his.

  3. I finished these this weekend. The patterns are by Sue Mey and found in SWWC Winter 2017 issue #69. I used Eastern White Cedar which I think is too soft. I cut them on the DeWalt 788 and used FD Polar #9 blades. The finish is spray Shellac. Comments welcome.

    Good days off

Finally got some days off, so into the shop I disappeared. The Fournier sign is for a lady from our Finance dept. who is retiring and her co-workers wanted something for a gift. This will go to their lake lot. The Soulmates sign I made as a surprise for Jan. Went to Sheila Landry's site for the Fournier sign and saw this pattern and had Keith change the wording. The Bless the Food sign is something the wife saw on Facebook, so of course I had to design and cut it. Both signs cut from reclaimed maple from furniture and planed to 3/8th inch. The Jon Snow picture found on Pinterest. Still have one more day off so will cut some Xmas ornaments, only a month behind where I usually am in the past years. Jeff

  5. Duke has shown his fabulous version of the fairies, and here are my plain, unpainted, boring versions. There are 3 new patterns from Harvey, but these two were a big enough pain in the ass to cut, I may not even do the third one, it looks even more tedious. But they are beautiful. Harvey does nice work.

    Yummy Puzzle

I recently signed up to be a vendor at a local RibFest event and I had Harvey draw me up 4 custom patterns specifically for it, and while I was at it, I had him make this one for me... I have a feeling it will be popular. :-)

    The Bully

The Bully is done. I spent a little over a year cutting this. Not because of the number of cuts, 1048, but because I was out of commission last year after being run down while riding my bicycle home from work. I am back to riding again it is how I get around for the last 20 years. When I was able to work at the scroll saw once again the pattern was intimidating. I eventually said I need to finish this thing! The wood is 14x11 red oak ply and the frame is made from purpleheart. The frame is finished with General Finishes Gel Satin. The pattern is Mike Williams available @ mikesscrollsawpatterns.com

    Just another newbie

Hello everyone. I'm new here but have been scrolling for quite a while. Thought I'd show a picture of a few things I've done. These are all out of exotic woods and scaled down to 1/2, 2/3 or 3/4 size.

    Finished pattern

Just finished this yesterday. A friend of mine wanted to know if I could do a Hockey plaque like the baseball one that Steve Good had on. I put in a pattern request and it got 30 reviews but no pattern. I was getting ready to delete the request when DonR made this pattern for me. He did a great job and my friend loved it. I want to give a special thanks to Don for taking the time to do this for me. I don't know what we would without these pattern makers that we have on here. Thanks to all of you that do the patterns for all of us that don't know how. It is really appreciated. Thanks again DonR

  43. It has always made sense to put the blade in the top first. The blade can hang down from the bottom clamp without problem, it cannot, however, be longer going over the top clamp

  44. Great job. One suggestion is to make sure you bring plenty of change. Most people stop at a cash machine and have $20 bills. That is great if all your items cost $20 but if all of your items are in what I call even dollars ($5, $10, $20, $25,....) bring at least a $100 in $5's and $50 in $10's. If you have items in $1's ($3, $6, $22,....) bring at least $25 in $1's. I typically bring a $200 to start with.

  47. Hawkey I wonder about the fan blowing across the saw. It would seem to me that you are distributing the saw dust all over the shop that way, unless the other larger fan really has some massive flow. Has anyone considered connecting a 4" duct to one of these fans? It would be a quiet extractor assuming the fan wouldn't overhead from the restriction of flow. A good way to check that out is to have a spot light in the area with the rest of the lights off and you will see very quickly what is suspended in the air. We do our annual club show in a massive barn. When the sun comes through the window you get a really eye opening idea of how much fine dust we really do generate with our saws. Oldhudson is the duct on the side of the saw connected to a central dust collector? I was always happy with just a half mask (not paper) until I decided to do the extraction with the HEPA Festool vacuum. I can't stand the smell when I cut baltic birch ply, it really bothers me. I suspect it is the adhesive. I will find out when I go into ornament mode if this system works.

  48. Congrats on 2 new saws. And getting them both the same day. Certainly a great reason for a day of hooky from work.

  49. Yeah, I was pretty sure they had the roller needle / sleeve bearings.. just like the DeWalts do.. I know my bearings when I see them.. worked in a bearing supply shop for 2 years as a teenager in high school.. LOL back then most wasn't made in china though..
