    69 Nova

Thank you Travis, still have to paint it blue. I will be using the actual paint that is on the car. I'm using a white base to help with the blue.

    Owl

Finished another Alex Fox pattern yesterday. Cut into 1/4 butternut using FD 2/0 spiral reverse blades. I am not a big fan of these blades, they left a very dirty cut. But once I started the project with them I went ahead and used them 'til the end(I bought 6 dozen...oops).

    New Police Chief

We have a new police chief that woke us up at 5am the other day because the neighbors house was on fire so we could put water on our roof until the fire department showed up. So we made this desk name plate for him to show our appreciation.

  9. I've not used the saw since late May. Most of June and July was spent getting the house back in shape after a nasty June hailstorm. New roof, entire house repainted, patio rebuilt and recovered, new fence and damage on vehicles repaired. Things are shipshape now. Sold the Spyder in June (getting too old to ride any great distance) so wife wants her half of the garage back. Who ever heard of a car in the garage. It should be called a car shed. So time was spent rearranging everything leaving my little shop totally disorganized. Yesterday was my first time back at the saw so this is my first little project. Wife thinks it is appropriate.

  12. I have an event coming up the weekend after next, first time doing it... a dog show, here in my county. It's something like the 72nd annual event and I had no idea what to expect... Well, I just saw the "ring assignments"... It appears that there are about 560 dogs entering twice (both Saturday and then Sunday). And the list of about 112 different breeds participating is mind boggling. I take 63 breeds of dog puzzles with me normally and I'm going to have to expand that to try to cover as many as I can. There are several listed that I don't have patterns for, and some I've never even heard of. LOL This is going to be a wild one... http://www.hanoverkennelclub.net/2017_show_schedule_and_ring_assignments

  14. My wife has indicated that this may be my last schwibbogen for a while even though she did a fantastic job of painting. I may need to revisit Ohm's law at some point. I have 20 .3 Ma bulbs and my 2 aa batteries are getting hot after a while?? Do I have to go to "C's"?

    Christmas ornaments

The small ones are $3 or two for $5 and the larger ones a$6 or two for $10. I have them displayed on small artificial Chritmas trees. I really don't make much on them, but they attract the customer to see the rest of my goodies.

  19. I just came across this and immediately thought this might be my solution for organizing my stockpile of puzzles. During the off-season and in anticipation of big events, I cut tons of extras of my popular items but have just kept them in a giant box, or in some smaller boxes mixed together, having to sort thru them constantly. This may be an ideal way to organize them and have easy access to them. If not this exact thing, something similar. https://www.amazon.com/Whitmor-Hanging-Shoe-Shelves-Section/dp/B00KQ2E666/ref=sr_1_15?s=storageorganization&ie=UTF8&qid=1506696875&sr=1-15&keywords=closet+shoe+organizer

    Eagle

This is from the Fall 2017 issue of SSWW. I cut it this past weekend. Then I had to find a base. That always takes a bit of time, I stash unusual pieces I find in other woodworking garbage. Mostly pieces to bad for furniture builders. The eagle s cherry, the base is oak.

    A First for Me

An interesting event indeed. It is a new one on me too. Instead of stopping and changing blades at the tight corners, why did you just not back out a little and approach the corner from a different angle? That is what I used to do when I was first learning and it always worked well for me then. Dick heppnerguy

  29. So, I'm home from my latest 2 day event... and I'm exhausted and burnt out... And I've come to the decision and conclusion that unless an event is here in my town (on the island), or is in Southport, NC or in Cary, NC... I'm simply not going to bother. I've experimented and tried various "festivals" and events and they just aren't worth the extra time, energy, effort and travel. Two weeks ago was a Summer Harvest event 45 minutes from home. Two days long. I did the first day and didn't do the 2nd day. Mediocre sales. 38 puzzles This weekend was a wine festival event almost 90 minutes from home. 1 1/2 days long. Friday night SUCKED (4 puzzles) and today, even with absolutely perfect weather, had mediocre sales. 33 puzzles. Both of those weekends, I could have done my local farmers market 4 blocks from my house and done my average 26 puzzles in just 5 hours and been home by 2pm. It runs from Memorial Day weekend thru the first week of October each year. It's been a trial and error, learning experience in my first 16 months of selling. I wanted to try various venues and see what the best shows are. But these random festivals, etc just aren't worth it and quite honestly the clientele tend to think my price is a bit high. I'm better off with tourists and mega-events. I'm not whining or complaining... I'm just worn out. LOL I've pushed myself and worked hard at this and it's catching up to me. I still have a full schedule thru early December, but no more long distance "festivals". I know I'm fortunate to live in a tourist area and I need to simply capitalize on that and ride the wave as they say. P.S. the new little ornaments did quite well today, I sold 7 of them and I went with a price of $7 each at this event, but I think I can get $10 everywhere else. (I counted 3 ornaments as equaling 1 puzzle in my tally. When I charge $10, I'll count 2 ornaments as equaling 1 puzzle)

  36. Hey Rolf, Thank you for the tips.. Mine is also the upper bearing on that connecting rod.. I don't have any bushing... it's a sealed bearing pressed into the connecting rod with a ( I think it's called a) flange bolt.. Man why can't I think of the name of this bolt.. anyway the bolt is larger to match the bearing then turned smaller where the threads are.. Sorry my mind went blank there for the name of the bolts, LOL probably come to me as soon as I post this... I had planned to try to buy just the potentiometer to replace it.. didn't know where to buy them though.. used to be able to get that type of stuff from radio shack but they don't do things like they used to either.. figured I'd search the web for it.. I'll look into the place you mentioned.

  47. I'm one of those people who has many interests and whenever something new comes to mind, the first thing I do is go looking for a forum of others who have the similar interest. I look not only for information, guidance and knowledge but also I am looking for the comraderie that I find in these forums. This particular one is one of my favorites because I am treated well by those of you who have been here a long time. So far, every silly question I have asked has been answered by many of you. It's a veritable fountain of knowledge. I found the same thing when I went looking for help with woodcarving and found it at the Wood Carving Illustrated forum. Another great bunch of folks there too. I want to thank you all. Ray

    I've Been Thinking...

That's what these forums are all about Jim! My biggest issue is I am on the west coast and by the time I get on, most questions have been answered. So I feel there is no need to answer a question that has already been answered correctly. But if I feel I can add to the info already given, I will.
