  3. I made this 4 years ago from a cedar hope chest someone thru out 18" tall 5/8's thick.you should have seen my eye upon seeing it on the side of the road GOLD! I wanted to make something rare and desirable so i could buy a new dw788 or used doesn't matter Well in the mean time i aquired 9 more dw788's and still have the double star of David clock. It's very precious to me .My friend that has never had an additude problem, cursted me out or any bad thing is getting married Jan 15th.His wife to be is from Israel so this will be theirs as a wedding gift.I gave a can of satin spray minwax so he can get more or gloss from the big box store if he choses,And the name was supposed to be gray but i don't have ,it's for the er nurse so she said paint it so it will look good,so white base and red glitter paint and red glitter on top of that,

Thanks Travis (TDpainter) for the fine pattern. Not sure I did it justice, but I tried. It was really fun to cut, did not take long. I tried my hand at painting the backer where the flames are... doesn't show up as much as I hoped. I may do in again with lighter wood next time. Thanks again Travis.

    Finished lamps. Thoughts?

I struggled with staining these appropriately and finally got it done to "this will be ok" mode. Not intending to sell these particular ones since I plan to personally use them but wanted to take pictures to see if there is a interest in local community for these types of lamp. What do you think I can list them for?

    Seg. Pig practice

Well I managed to get some practice in over the weekend. Pig from Kathy wise book. My daughter can't wait to get her hands on this and massacre it with paint. I'm not super happy with it anyway. I kind of butchered the ear a little when shaping. I was making it for her to paint and practice for me.

  10. A friend wanted something that represented a turtle and a squirrel. So after some design ideas, I made a turtle box that contains a little squirrel and some tiny acorns. The turtle is made from one piece of walnut. The inlays of the shell are from the other side of the same piece (sap wood). Squirrel is cherry and the acornlets are padouk. Hope y'all like!

    Round cribbage board

Made a few of these in the past few years but this was the first one in a long time. It's 12" round made from 3/4" pine. The name and cards are from 1/4" birch plywood stained for a nice contrast. Not a lot of scrolling but a ole lot of drilling lol.

  18. Well, for all of you who have been following along with my vibration/noise problem, let me tell you this. I AM A VERY HAPPY CAMPER RIGHT NOW. I managed to take care of the knocking sound and after fixing the main drive bearing problem by center punching around the bearing hole on both sides, that bearing no longer floats around. I took the bearing seals off and packed the bearing full of synthetic grease. On reassembling everything, I made sure that I tightened all the screws a bit more this time around. I can now run the saw at any speed I choose and it doesn't shake anymore or knock. I did also find that the 3 feet of my saw stand are pounding on the wood floor of my shop. They are 4 x 4 and the whole stand is pretty heavy but I'm going to put carpet under them so muffle the pounding sound coming from them. All in all, a very productive day. Tomorrow, I am going to do some cutting. I need a ton of practice. I just have to find something to make that is more than just practice lines and circles. Oh happy me. Thanks to all of you who have helped me fix this thing. Now, I don't have to think about buying another saw. Ray

    Hi from the uk

Good afternoon and hello from the uk. My name is Steve and found this site by pure chance from being on Steve Good's website. My interest in scrolling started many, many years ago and started out with just a cheapy saw from b&q. After a year or so and struggling with doing a lot of what a liked to do I decided to purchase a much bigger saw. Purchased a diamond scrollsaw which were handmade in the uk by a small manufacturing company who unfortunately are no longer in business. I have had the machine for about 10 years now and still absolutely love it. Recently got back into scrolling and am glad to say that I am enjoying it more now than I ever did. Hope to be of some help on this site and will try to be an active member. Cheers guys and gals. PS loving all of your work that I have seen so far. A few pics of some of my recent works are below. Am on instagram as @sawdustisfun if anyone wants to see my work. Cheers
