  2. Recently had a request for a Kentucky Wildlife puzzle! And here is the result. 12.5" x 5.25" x 3/4" and a tray type puzzle. I provide one solution but there are multiple solutions. All animals are native to the Commonwealth Kentucky. The tray is stained but the animals are natural hardwoods and oiled. bb

I’v been quite busy and haven’t posted many photos and was just posting for a minute so thought I’d share this one I’m working on today plus the cab over semi that cut this morning picture of that one in the pattern request forum. The gulfstream is a pattern I did.

  9. Made this for my wife's sister that lives in Hoover Alabama and shipped it there for a good friend of my wife's sister . Wife made the pattern and I scrolled the Plaque - scrolled the outline of the mascot out in the middle ( hope you can make it out ) my first of this kind ever . Of course I cut the A out and painted it and glued it on after I painted the gray . Any comments welcomed MD

    Behind those closed doors

I changed the pattern a little and removed the hair. It looks a lot better. Thanks again Luceene-K for letting me use your drawing for a pattern. The other is the tree of life done in a piece of Walnut.

  12. I got on a kick about 8 months ago and made these pendants. They are so much fun to make and a great way to use up your scraps. I string then up with black hemp cord and twist clasps mostly although some want magnetic. Gonna source out small little "rivet" like brass/silver/gold pieces to put in the holes to make them look even better. These are proving to be popular, I wear different necklaces everyday... Pics of the lot, then 7 of so pics a bit closer up and the a pic of some close up

    My Noel

I love the Noel pattern that was in the latest issue of SSW&C issue. So I cut it yesterday. This is mine, just one of many that have been posted here. Mine is all cherry. Finished with a soak in 50/50 BLO/MS. It was quick and fun to cut.

  16. Grizzly has the 788 on sale.. not saying it's a great deal but lower cost than normal.. probably never beat the deal they gave me on mine.. but then.. that was 8-9 years ago. Believe I gave $350 with stand and light back then.. they've went up in price quite a lot since then.. I think they was about $409 or so back then.. I've seen them not long ago on sale I think on Grizzly for $399 with stand and light.. it was cheaper with stand etc than by itself, LOL

    Beginner Books

I got that same book as Ray, then got some Intarsia beginner books, and then some others but as Jim said - some of my best help and information came from here on the Village, Steve Good's blog and videos, and the Magazines forum.

  29. I have done some pendants before, where I take a few pieces sandwiched together, cut them apart and glue them back together. When the edges are not square I found that using packing tape or painters tape worked as a good clamp. I found a blog tutorial that I did years ago on how I did mine. http://lumberjocks.com/MrsN/blog/19527 The triangular pieces really stand out as interesting.

  30. I bought the issue mostly for that pattern, but haven't got to cutting it yet, but here are my thoughts. Start with the little inside bits of the snowflake. then the top and bottom that make the inside of the "O". Lastly the rest of the letters. I would use a #5 on the big letters, and maybe on the snowflake. If I remember correctly the 4 places that are holding the snowflake in are probably deceptively strong. I think you should find a piece of wood and give it a go. If you want to practice, just cut the "O" out and make it an ornament.

  32. Here you go Melanie, these are what I cut before I submitted the patterns. The mooning snowman was from a pic that Jan found on Facebook and wanted made into a Christmas ornament, made four and have none left. She gave them all away. Jeff

  35. I'm not intrested in a dewalt either. But that's no deal. Lowe's sells them for 489.00 every day. And Amazon even a little cheaper delivered to ur door. (Prime). I don't think stands are included tho. Not that rockler is way off on their price but it's no deal. Lol.

  37. Just to think about: in years of creating pine needle baskets and in conjunction with many other basketeers, we have found that good ol' paraffin is just as good as bee's wax. So if you can't find the real thing, try mixing paraffin with oil and you will get just as nice of finish. And if you really want to think out of the box, heat up the paraffin in a double boiler, mix a little oil with it, smear it on your work, then put the thing in the oven at a very low temperature--below 200-- and let the mix soak into the wood until dissolved. Take it out, buff it up and you will have a masterpiece. No kidding. It really works.

    Craft show

I was at my favorite craft show in my own town. I take two spots and bring my scroll saw and make mini puzzles for kids to take for free! That show is always my best seller ! As a bonus, a gentlemen came to see me and he said that he saw me scroll last year and it got him to try it and ... he's addicted! I'm so glad to have sparked the flame in someone ! That was the highlight of my show!!

    Bookmarks

You can buy veneer and stack glue it opposite grain pattern (diy plywood) the advantage to this would be cost and u can get a very rich look from figured and exotic veneer for very cheap. Also a last resort option if you just can't find plywood.
