    Star Wars Parchis

Hello everyone!! I´m new here, and i want to start my posts with a Parchis project that made between my grandfather and I a few months ago. I´m from Spain, and Parchis is a traditional family game in here. I love Star Wars saga, so i decided to buy a thematic Parchis that has figures of the characters instead of common tokens. Because the details of the figures and the paperboard´s board, we wanted to level up the pack, so we started to do this side table kind from pine in which the players can sit around to play. We inked the pine in sapelly, and cutted the letters with the scroll saw. Also, the top is reversible, in order to allow six or four players. I hope you all like the result as much as we enjoy it!!!

This is my first gift box Birch plywood 4mm and 6mm I know that a box made from solid wood (not plywood) might look better, but I wanted to show that using simple and cheap materials and without professional tools (I used the needle file and sandpaper) you can make beautiful projects. And here is video of making of this gift box:

  7. Recently had a request for a Kentucky Wildlife puzzle! And here is the result. 12.5" x 5.25" x 3/4" and a tray type puzzle. I provide one solution but there are multiple solutions. All animals are native to the Commonwealth Kentucky. The tray is stained but the animals are natural hardwoods and oiled. bb

    Wood scrap

I have designed around 10 state wildlife puzzles in order to use scrap pieces of wood. If the scraps are a little larger, say 3" x 4", I will cut "mini" animal puzzles with 3-6 pieces. bb

  18. If you have the equipment to do it, I'd cut a 3/16" rabbit on one internal edge of each panel. Making sure you did it on the same edge of each panel. Then, it's a simple matter of gluing them together with a good clamp system. They will end up being a "box".

    Wood scrap

I believe scrap wood is in the eye of the beholder. I have a hard time throwing any wood away that might make a small item of some sort. The problem is I end up with so many small pieces I have to part with some every once in a while. I bag up some of it for my son for kindling he uses for camp fires and I burn the rest in my own fire pit.

    Wood scrap

In my day of scrolling, I had a local kindergarten school that took my scraps. The kids would glue pieces together that I suppose in their minds were pieces of "art". I would have liked to see some of their creations but never did.

  28. you could glue a few cleats onto the corners of the panels so they all have an area large enough to glue together. Another option for the top and bottom would be to route a groove that the four panels fit into and as long as the grooves are sized correctly the base and top would keep the panels upright with no need to glue anything together. This allows you to change the lighting or change the panels if you want. Good luck and God Bless! Spirithorse

  29. Not knowing your woodworking abilities or the tools you have at your access it is very hard to suggest things. But a simple suggestion other than doing a google search, I suggest you treat it as a lamp shade. You need to make corners and I would suggest a solid dark colored wood such as walnut. Cut slots in it so that the panels slip in them. Or you could miter the ends 45 degrees and glue together that way. Then you need to use some metal so that it hangs over the bulb depending on the lamp. I warn and warn you with all good intentions fires from material such as wood is no joke. You may want to look into some sort of LED lighting system and make it into a box and install a string of low voltage low wattage lights. Good luck All I can and all I would say. Too hazardous for me. This is the reason I do not sell toys or anything electrical.

  33. How about telling us what make and model saw you are using. Every manufacturer uses a different style blade clamp, and sometimes has a different style clamp for each of their models. It's difficult to provide a good reply to questions like this without knowing more about the saw. Charley

  35. I had the same problem when I started using spirals and still do every now and then. Like Larry, I use FD new spirals and have found that I can get the bottom of my blade in place pretty easily, and when trying to tighten the top I will twist the blade just a bit until it sits in the clamp properly. Once I tighten it for my first few cuts, it usually stays that way and I don't have any problem after that.

  36. Spirals can be a pain to get them into the holders right. The ends need to be flattened out a bit. I do this with a small hammer and a flat piece of iron. Just tap the ends flat and they usually fit. Not to hard or a tap or you will crimp the blade which will cause it to break. Some say they use pliers to straighted out the ends. I use FD new spirals so I do not know if this works for all brands or not. I sometimes crimp the blade if I get the holders to tight. You may also be getting to much tension on the blade if you are using the small spirals. Larry

  44. It depends on what kind of wood and what thickness. My reccomendation would be to experiment with some scrap wood with different size blades. Never say never, experiment!
