Special Thanks to Grampa for the pattern. I made this for a guy I meet a couple months ago. His Dad raced this car back in 77.

    Puzzles

Some of this weekend's cutting. Glued the photos onto 1/4"BB ply with spray glue. Let that sit for a couple of days. Stack cut, put the photos on the inside, glued the template to the back side. After cutting, took the pieces apart. That was actually harder than it should have been, the two layers stuck together. Next time I will put some wax paper between the photos. Cut with #2R olson blade. Haven't finished the wood. Might put a coating of Mod Podge on the top to seal the edges. These were for practice on cutting puzzles for future ideas.

Hi people, have not done a lot of cutting lately, been playing with my new Toy (Laser/Engraver). So here is a cutting I did for the manager of our local Salvation Army Family Store. She loves Eagles so thought it was a great pattern, not sure where it came from so any one knows Thanks. The other pic is of the Laser engraved name and date and such could never do it by hand this nice...... Cheers Merlin..................

    My First

A couple of three years back my daughter was promoted to Dean at a college she worked at in Kansas. So I ordered a desk name plate from a retired cop in Louisiana off of Etsy. We got to talking about scroll sawing, and two years ago for Christmas Santa brought me a Porter-Cable. little while later and I found an EX-21 on Craigs list and I've been puttering ever since.. In October, she was promoted to Campus President of the campus in Las Cruses, and in December she earned her PH. D. So I made my first name plate, for her desk, Will be a Christmas gift. Cut with a PMG 5, and I sliced a piece of firewood on the table saw for a base. The torch on both ends is the college logo. And a big thanks to Kevin, your name plates help me envision how to do it with the descender on the letter 'y'.

    Peacock Lamp

I've been working on this for a few weeks. I found the Pattern on Pinterest. The original was a little small so I took it to the UPS store to enlarge. Only problem was the pattern got rasterized. I rather follow a line than an edge and I had to guess the line with the rasterized edge. I did not stack cut because I tend to push too hard and distort the bottom pattern. The pattern is 1/8" BBPW. I cut the oak posts to 3/4" and dato'ed a 1/4" grove on 2 sides with the table saw to accept the pattern and the 1/8" amber Plexiglas. Initially left the protective backing on one side of the Plexiglas but it was too dark. I used parchment paper and glued edges with contact cement to the Plexiglas. I used 1/4" dowels to mount the posts on top and bottom and glued the bottom in place after mounting panels. Top is removable. I had to put a slight taper on the edges of the wooden panels since the grooves were a tight fit. I used a 40 W LED bulb and made sure it was one of the ones that shone both up and down. Some have a high collar that only shine sideways and up. Finish was 2 coats of shellac and 2 coats of lacquer. Used a roller on/off switch. There were many steps to make this project but it has a perfect spot in our hall foyer. In the next few months I'll be holding off on projects. I am having a 24 x 30 detached garage built in the back yard. It will have a small 1/2 bath, HAVC and a 14 x 30 loft. Stubbing water waste and HAVC for future expansion upstairs. Wife wants me out of the garage. Too much dust. The plan I've included will only have one garage door and the lav. on the opposite side. Entrance door will move to front. Still getting price for 2 dormers. Hope to have it done by May but it will depend on HOA AC approval.

Hi All, Just finished staining wiseman #2. My problem now is do I varnish each individual piece or glue the pieces up for the front and the back and then varnish ??

    Cutting 1/2" ply

I used FDUR exclusively then tried the PMG blade also in sizes 3 and 5. I agree with Dave and Gonzo, PMG works the best and seems to cut straighter too. I found that if I slowed the feed rate of the wood into the blade, wood chatter all but disappeared. And I put some MDF as a new table top on the excaliber to get rid of those vacuum holes, only one hole where the blade goes now Jim

  15. This is a sleigh I cut and assembled some time ago. but alas, another one I didn't finish. So I put a finish on it recently. The reason it wasn't finished was, my wife wanted it to be horse drawn. I wanted reindeer. I never found a pattern for either, well I didn't look very hard either. This is a Sheila Landry pattern: http://www.sheilalandrydesigns.com/product/SLD478

    Trees

These are very easy and fun to make. I used 1/8" BB ply stack cut 4 at a time. They slide together and can be stored flat. I used General Finishes green dye and no clear over it. One thing about water based dyes is to clean around the rim very thoroughly before storing. I had a dickens of a time getting the lid off because of the rust. I have transfered the remaining finish to a Mason jar.

  17. I use a Pegus #5 MG on almost everything 1/2" and above. I usually stack cut thinner material so I stay with the #5.
