  2. Sam Custodio is one pattern maker who makes really nice patterns that are a little on the challenging lines but not too crazy, if you know what I mean. When Sam posted this pattern, it instantly opened a portal in my memory and I knew I would have to cut this pattern just for myself. This particular pattern was more challenging to me then I thought it would be. I am nearly out of blades that I usually use but just did not have the right frame of mind to wait for my blade order to arrive, so I went ahead and cut it anyway. As a result, I found it more of a struggle to cut then I thought it was going to be. I was really unsure about the "scenicruiser" words on the side of the bus because it looked pretty delicate for the blades I was using. Sam had the top of the letters unattached but because of the blades I was using, I extended the tops of the letters so they too were touching solid wood. I cut this in 1/4 inch BB Ply and the same for the backer board. I still need to through some finish on it but that will not change things enough to repost it. I hope this one shakes a few cob webs in the memories of others as it did in mine. Dick heppnerguy

I just realized that I hadn't posted this little fellow. Its a Steve Good pattern. I cut if for my grandson as part of is Birthday present. I think the head is Jeletong but I have no idea what the base is I just know it was very very hard and heavy. Terry turned the pieces to wrap the cord around. Marg

  7. I upgraded my T8 fluorescent shop lights with new energy-efficient long lasting LED fixtures ...... these are supposed to last 50,000 hours, if I average six hours a day seven days a week in the shop, these will last me right at almost 23 years ...... I will be 76 years old that time ......so they should be the last lights I buy.....

    Font for puzzles?

I've always drawn my own when creating these puzzles. It's much easier than trying to manipulate a font. Give it a try.

  10. In the case of Harvey Byler's patterns, they are "Amish font"... he hand draws every one of his animals and lettering. He's Amish, so no computers allowed.

  11. Here's one for you. It'd be the perfect day to choc coat a raw egg, or boiled, and wrap it as the real deal. You don't get this chance very often. You know you want to do it now that you've read this. It's stuck in your mind and you can see the funny side to it. Go on, be daring, do it.

Nice job Marg. I am sure your grandson will love it. I keep thinking I need to make something similar for my hubby and one for myself maybe. Ike, looks like Steve posted this particular pattern back in mid-Dec of last year (2017.). I too had forgotten this one if I saw it. He also had another one with a guitar that I was thinking of doing for hubby. This link will show both of those two stands on Steve’s blog: http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/search?q=Headphones

    Font for puzzles?

Is there a particular font used when making a puzzle? It appears, the puzzles all seem to use the same or similar font. Here is an example of what I'm asking: Thanks in advance

  17. this was a custom order and the client sent me the pattern so i am sorry i do not know to whom i should give credit. i love luan. if you take your time and use a reverse blade all 8 layers are usable and fits glued in a dollar tree frame. the frame here was about 30 years old i bought in an estate sale. delivered 2 of these in matching frames and the other 6 will go in $1 frames. i had to hot glue the figure to the bottom of the frame or it would move about.

    Font for puzzles?

I suspect most of these animal type puzzles are in fact all hand drawn.

  19. Dan, I'm thinking that if they last that long, which you indicate will take you to 76 - then you need to figure that they will NOT be the last lights you buy for your shop. My FIL, who is presently 90, and still hiking in the Smokies would tell you that 76 is Young so you might want to plan a second set for another 23 years that would take you to 99.

Take the time to slap a coat of white paint on the walls and ceiling. You'll be amazed at how much more light you will have. Ray

  21. I think it's a little more ergonomically friendly. Stay hunched over a scroll saw for extended periods of time and you look for small improvements that relieve some of the tension in your back, neck, shoulders and wrists. It makes a difference for some. I know I like mine better tilted.

    Say Hello To My Mistress

Many people like it. it gives a different angle to view the blade, and some like that. Myself, I couldn't get used to not having a flat table and went back to flat.

  36. Well I did Mahendra's pattern again and framed it. This is for one daughter. As you can see I increased the size, which made it much easier to get into all those small spaces. I have now started on Russell's pattern for my other daughter. Both these are done in 9mm ply [just cause I had some spare!]. What I have discovered since the first effort is that I now start off by doing all the eyes, then all the mouths, then everything else to do with each of the faces. That way if I make a mistake with the important part, I wont have spent too much time before I have to toss it. With the first effort I used # 3 Pegas skip tooth, now with the thicker wood I've found that #7 Pegas Modified Geometry is good for tearing through (in the best possible meaning of the word) the pattern but it was far too aggressive for the delicate facial details. For the important cuts I'm using a # 7 Pegas double skip.

  37. Yuengling is from Pottsville, PA.......the oldest brewery in the US.......they only distribute east of the Mississippi River, until approx a year ago they started distributing in Louisiana. I have not been able to locate and/or order it from any store in my area.

  40. Yuengling Lager is by far is the best beer I have ever had and that says a lot coming from a die hard "Shiner Bock" drinker. Tried it approx 7 years ago up in New York at Cooperstown when one of my son's was invited to play in a select baseball tournament near the Baseball HOF. We cant get Yuengling here in Texas (although they have starting selling it in Louisiana), so I have some friends from my side / second job that travel all over the US and they usually bring me a case or two.
