    Scroll Saw Stand

I have found that a 1960’s style typewriter stand makes a really quality stand for a scroll saw. The one pictured here was made by the Tiffany Stand Company and there are still a lot of them available in flea markets and Second-Hand Stores. They were built out of heavy quality steel, welded joinery and they have a nice set of coasters with a foot lever to easily move the whole stand. I built the little drawer stand to attach on top and it provides a convenient location to store blades and other small items. Also attached a foot pedal on a little plywood bracket that sets flush with the floor when the casters are up. The unit is rock solid and vibration free.

    Chevy Cars

These are some of my new car designs. I decided to create the 56 and 57 after the response I received from the 55. I created all the patterns using Gimp. Hope y’all like em all! I’m working on a 69 YENKO Nova, 55 Chevy Nomad, 69 Dodge Charger, and a 69 Dodge Daytona. I will post pics of them once finished.

  5. Addictive peice of jewellery for me to make at this point in time. Partially cause I love wearing them and partially as a result of having 100 peices of wall art taking up space in my house... Need to makes small's.... Got to also get back to making bentwood rings

I have been trying to build some inventory for my next craft fair but seem to be selling it almost as fast as I can make it. Nice problem to have I suppose but still inconvenient! First off this pair of hearts cut from a rimu drawer box Then these horses from a Charles Dearing pattern. I started this one months ago but couldn't get around to finishing it. Once I got my new Hegner, I decided I had to finish it: I have cut this Beatles plaque before but this time enlarged it to 150% Then some more NZ hearts: and finally a Harry Potter wand turned from a length of old handrail. Not sure what the timber is but it is lovely. Thanks for looking, Rob

  7. Those blades are so small I'm not sure you'll see the teeth to know what way is down anyway.. I've cut a few of these jigsaw puzzles several years ago.. What I do is run my finger on the blade to see what way the teeth are. running the finger down the teeth in both directions to see what way is rough feeling.. Those FD puzzle blades are awesome for doing these puzzles..

  8. Someone at work asked me about the "Einstein"'s i made for the classrooms and asked if i could make one of, "Sam and Dean"? i replied "Who?" he told me where they were from so i said sure. turns out they were from my daughters favorite show. he then sent me a pattern made for, carving a pumpkin! into Corel i went. 20 minutes of adjustments and printed. i wasn't sure it looked right until i gave one luan to each of my girls. i must have done well!!! it is 10" x 14" and was stacked 4- 1/16" luan sandwiched between 2- 1/8" birch ply with a #3 FD spiral rev and lots of patents. i think the one on the left looks like Michael Myers....

  11. I upgraded my T8 fluorescent shop lights with new energy-efficient long lasting LED fixtures ...... these are supposed to last 50,000 hours, if I average six hours a day seven days a week in the shop, these will last me right at almost 23 years ...... I will be 76 years old that time ......so they should be the last lights I buy.....

  16. I believe both my lights I put the led bulbs in have a starter. That said my old hawk saw came with a older light which I know has the starter. When I get back home either tonight or tomorrow I’ll try to check if the bulbs with in it. The two newer lights I have are from Menards but I think they are the same as the HF one.

    Impatiently Waiting

Very nice box and inlay. I am waiting for them to come back but here it will be May until I see them. I watch the migration maps to see how far north they have come but have not moved much from their winter home. I also watch the Monarch migration maps. They have just left their winter home in Mexico.

  39. Hello friends! I have another update on our "out of service" compliance. My Bride says to let you all know your thoughts & prayers are sincerely appreciated. She is doin' well! Happy to be back to work & able see all her friends that come & go at the grocery store. The joy of livin' in a small town. Last friday, we spoke with my Cardiologist on the phone, finally. He told us the clot in my leg is all but gone. He is no longer worried about it. That was good news! And he also told me I could go back to the shop a few days a week! That was even better news, until my nurses that come in got wind of it. Between the three of them, & my Bride, they didn't think my legs were strong enough to stand going to the shop yet. So, I'm still stuck in my chair, doin' their exercises for now. That's probably best, as long as I've been down, & as much pain as I'm experiencing in my legs. My family dr is still adjusting my blood thinners. They tell me it takes awhile to get the numbers where they are supposed to be. As much blood thinner as I've had thru me, you'd think my blood would be nearly water, but it ain't. So, we'll keep messin' with that, I guess Again, thank you for keeping us in your prayers. They are doing their job! We sincerely appreciate them all! Enjoy the day, & God Bless. Brad & Mary Ann.

  40. I agree with all the above. I know many 80 plus woodworkers. Ray's post is important. My shop has OSB on the walls and ceiling. Painting it white makes a major difference. I applied Kilz and then 2 coats of flat white. I used cheapo builder's paint. Think it was like $35 for a 5 gallon bucket.

    Shop Lighting Upgrade

Yeah, I'll be 75 next month so I might get my money's worth out some if I buy them now. But, they will be pricey as I have 7 double light fixtures in my little shop. Oh well, I guess I can't take it with me. Ray

  44. Here's one for you. It'd be the perfect day to choc coat a raw egg, or boiled, and wrap it as the real deal. You don't get this chance very often. You know you want to do it now that you've read this. It's stuck in your mind and you can see the funny side to it. Go on, be daring, do it.

  46. New member here to the forum from Las Vegas. Been woodworking for a little while now and during that time I made a chess board for my son for his birthday. When it came time to make the pieces I found I could make them all on a scroll saw, so that's how I got into scrolling. Still getting the hang of it making my kids other projects before working up to the compound cuts, but it's a lot of fun and have also taught my older son (7 years old) how to scroll and he likes it a lot as well. Here is a not so great photo of the chess board before finishing it.

  47. Mr. Ray, sometimes its the ones you haven't met that bring a feller the most strength. I appreciate your kind words, brother, sincerely. I learned a long time ago when I was still truckin' that the folks I talked to on the phone, outside of braindead dispatchers & loud mouth brokers, were caring, God fearin' folks who just wanted the best for mankind. You remind me of one of those folks, Mr. Ray. Just a good ol' boy like me that wants the best for his friends. No, we've never met, but you're still my friend. That's the strongest point of this site is the friendship & brotherhood, as I've said before. I sincerely wish we could meet all of you face to face. Scrappile, your kind words sincerely mean alot, too. I don't want anybody to think, by any means, I've put this post on here to sound like I'm cryin' the blues. Because that's not it all. I'm just lettin' my friends know what has happened to us lately. My sincere apologies if anyone takes it that way. We sincerely appreciate all the prayers & support from everyone of you! I mean it from the heart! How we'll ever repay all of you, we have no clue, but we've never been shown such friendship & support! God bless!

    still out of service!

you hit the nail on the head, Mr. blight! This is just a bump in the road for us. Man, I can't tell you all again how much all the support & prayers, kindness, & friendship you've all shown us! It means more than I can express to you all! This is, again, one of the many reasons this is the only scroll site I use! All of you have helped to keep my mind off the other things we've got goin' on. We sincerely appreciate all your support & prayers!!!

  49. Good to know. I has one with Flor and one LED. I much prefer the LED one. My Flor one is a HF light, well worth the money I paid for it but if I could find a replacement Led bulb for it, I think I would invest in it.
