    Computer Desk

Just completed this farmhouse style computer desk with drawer.....drawer has inter-locking dividers in it, also installed drawer guides for smooth operation......I never had made a drawer before...made completely with 2x construction grade lumber.....I planed the 2x6 top boards down to 1.250" to get rid of rounded edge & to get them smooth for desk top... top is stained red mahogany with 4 coats of Minwax clear poly brushed on.....top is 62"L x 27.5" deep.......bottom is sprayed with 1 coat of premium Kilz primer & 1 coat of Glidden semi gloss white paint, with my Wagner Flexio 590 sprayer, if you are looking for a paint sprayer, this one sprayed the thick Kilz like water, highly recommend .....no scrolling on this one.....comments please as always

    Maybe finished.....

This was the piece made from a paper cutting pattern. Pattern courtesy Pam Holtz, a noted folk artist from the Pennsylvania area. Painting performed by my wife who is an accomplished folk artist. It is mounted on a piece of tin that has been antiqued with Pewter Black, and framed in a stained wood frame. Not sure if this is how it's going to end up! Lew

    "Saw Bird Blades" Review

i got my "Saw Bird Blades" yesterday and had a 1" challenge for them ready to cut.2 layers 1/4" luan, 1 layer 1/4" bead board, a 1 layer 1/4 mystery plywood. (would love to know what it is. Please!)the pattern i used was over 22" long and 12" high with lots of tight turns.it took only 1 #3 spiral rev blade to cut and had only a little stretch that required about an 1/8 degree turn of the tension on my hawk.with this being my first project with saw bird blades i am very pleased with it's performance and recommend them for all that use spiral blades. (i don't use flat blades) for me in the U.S. the Canadian exchange rate puts the price of a Gross is $26.79 we'll see if using them turns my like of them into love. Saw Bird Scroll Saw Blades http://www.sawbird.com/scroll_saw_blades.htm#saw_blade_prices ( i am not being paid to review this)

  11. Travis, you work on coming up with new ideas and ways to keep things most interesting here in The Village, so I am not going to pass up the opportunity to enter the piece I made for my wife as an Easter piece. I posted it when I finished it but this is my entry in support of your fun efforts for us. We should support the things you are doing for us. That being said, my thank you is my entry. 13. I had a new neighbor come over to the house and she saw my intarsia eagle hanging on our wall and immediately wanted to know if I sold these? I told her I did and then I told her I sell it for $200, but because I would not have to mail it, I would sell it to her for $175. She immediately said, "Can I pay you now?" I never take pay for something until it is finished and it is something they still want when they see the finished piece. Today she came by and picked up the Eagle and was very enthusiastic about it. I was delighted that she felt that way and she went off a happy camper. This is a JGR pattern, as most of you already know. It is made from Cedar, Yellow Heart and Aspen Dick heppnerguy

    Donation piece

One of my new neighbors asked if I would like to donate a piece of my woodworking to her Church fund raiser and of course I said that I would be delighted to do so. This is the first on several that I am donating. I am keeping it simple so that I will be able to give her several pieces. She was looking for a cross to start with so this is the one I decided on Dick heppnerguy

  24. my shop is in a rent to own portable building at my home. it has been paid off in this last year. i have found local stores that consign my rock star portraits at a 75%.25% cut and also have a 8'x12' wall at a local "peddlers mall" for only $12 a month. i stack cut almost all my projects so i have one to display and sell at both locations.

    Does anyone feel guilty

Hi Edward: If it's not noticeable why worry about it There is only one person who knows about the glue back Personally, I would charge more for the extra glue...lol Sell it, I say Fab4

  29. It is got to be hot in there all year round and materials and tools do not like heat as well as the operator. Not sure of your living arrangements but a shed of some sort would sound like a better option.

  31. I have been using Garnett's Sawbird blades for years and have extremely good luck with them. They are the only blade that I cut with, mostly using the flat blades. Have used a few spirals, but only when I have too, am not a fan. I am glad that someone else is as happy with them as I have been. Jeff

  33. I'm so tired of this "cold" weather (my version of cold is much different than most of the rest of you. LOL) but I'm ready for warmth... then I can bitch about how hot it is in the shop. Last day of cool weather for us today. At least I haven't been out there building a new fence and a shed like the guy I hired... he looks cold out there as I peer out my window. ;-)

  36. I am very impressed. I did this one and it took me 14 hours of actual cutting time. You don't work fast with Jatoba because it is so hard but your letters are even smaller than mine. This is similar in size. Keep up the good work! I am sure your Dad loved it.

  38. Just had to add this post to the topic. I have been using this New set up for controlling the excess dust and let me tell you all something. NO DUST GETS AWAY FROM MY Dust Sucker Tubes. Using a Vac named BAD ASH.... It is about Half the Loudness of my normal Shop Vac. Very tolerable to me. Still able to enjoy my Background Music. I don't know how I have been Scrolling for over a Decade without knowing about this set up. Been using the Square box fan with Filter along with the lil fan blowing across the table for Many, many Years. This set up does work Good, but not all the Dust is contained on that filter. Anyway this just be my 13 cents worth of thoughts. Danny :+}

I have had good luck with hot glue for some magnets on my fridge, but any that I have given away I use 5 minute epoxy.

A beautiful piece!!! Def a light color to make the stain pop. Not a white but maybe a creme or a colonial style color like a mustard or linen white. Can't wait to see it completed!

  43. Kirk here, 44 long years old, and am firmly convinced that Stitch is the greatest thing Disney ever created (new StarWars movies included...and I'm a big sci-fi fan!). I mean, c'mon, who doesn't love a psychotic little six-limbed alien? So....RabidAlien emerged. Kinda as a nifty way for my introverted butt to hide while my chatty fingers keep typing. If we ever met in person, I'd be the one hiding in the back of the room, reading a book or looking really uncomfortable and trying to find an exit. Jack of all trades, master of absolutely nothing.

  49. Well ..... at various times in my life I have been called "Blue Jay", "Jayce", "Jacob", "Jason", "Jasonian", "Leather", "Ranger" or "Ranger Jay" ..... but more recently ..... now that I am grey haired, walk with a bit of a gimp - and from time to time use a cane - I am very regularly called "Sir" or "Mr. Leather" ...... and finally ...... if the batteries need to be changed in my hearing aids my wife gets my attention by shouting "HEY!!" ..... Guess the upshot is ..... you can call me pretty much whatever you darn well please ..... Jay
