  3. I don't typically tell what I sell but just thought some might find what I'm selling interesting. This is today's orders.. I won't bore you all with every days orders.. LOL but anyway these orders came in today.. and I'm mailing them out in the morning other than the fishing clock.. I'm still making that one.. The plane ornament isn't today's order.. but one that I'm mailing out tomorrow.. Kind of a slower day today.. but maybe a better day tomorrow.. NOTE: It pays to keep Christmas ornaments on the site year round.. since I've just sold these two in the last few days..

  4. As long as the wife is away for a few days, I thought I would just go make her something more to add to the basket, I cut for her a couple of days ago, to give her for Mother's Day. I only had some BB Ply to use so that is what she gets this time. This is a pattern from the newest Scroll saw woodworking and crafts magazine. She saw it and liked it and even said she wanted me to make her one, some day. So that day has come. Dick heppnerguy

    My shot at a bowl

Hi guys and gals. Well I gave this a shot. It's one of Steve Goods patterns. I was able to cut two at a time so I can keep one and give the other one away. They are a little tough to put together without getting any glue squeezing out. I still have to other one to put together yet. I have to see if I can get the pattern that Dick did. I like that one to. This is almost 3 inches tall and 10 inches wide, cut with # 3/0 reverse.

I keep re-doing this piece....this time I sanded down the paint, added a bit of stain, then shellac. I mounted it on an old reclaimed piece of wood that I added some white gel stain to brighten it up. Maybe tomorrow I'll change it all....or toss it!!! Lew

    my first invite and Alice

I had found a few places to sell my stuff on consignment. one that is about 40mls away sold one last week (prince) so we went to get the cash. in the time it took us to drive to the bookstore they sold a second (petty). it turns out that the woman that got tom is a "comic com" promoter. anyway she is setting up the first "Paducah Galaxy Of Heroes Con" and is giving me a table free of charge. it inspired me, so this is my work for the day. i am so excited!!!

  9. Project done for a customer, this rack can hold up to 6 fishing rods in vertical position. Wall decor will be placed over the top part of the rack. after his order, he noticed he had 3 more fishing rods with no rack and order a small one for them.

  10. Mrs. Iggy saw an ad on Facebook of someone selling a bunch of shelving, displays and racks from a business. I arranged to go take a look this morning and snatched up 3 of these stacking metal basket systems. They're on wheels and they came with dividers. Absolutely perfect for my stockpile of puzzles. I was able to get rid of 12 boxes full of puzzles that were not easy to organize or search through when I needed specific ones. As soon as my shed is inspected by the town tomorrow I'll be able to clear out the garage of lawn and garden and beach stuff and re-arrange my puzzle area. I can't wait. Now I need to cut more puzzles to fill up the baskets. LOL

  11. An elementary school teacher from a nearby town contacted our club to ask us to give a demonstration of things to make/do with wood working tools. We spent two hours there with the 24 children ranging in ages from four to eleven. We brought ,with us, toys that were finished but needed wheels installed. Those that wanted to , painted them (cars and critters) and installed the wheels. Five guys from our club attended and we had the kids nailing into boards, (they loved that) nailing together small bird houses and installing the wheels. I also brought thirty 3-d cut horses and I taped them back together after cutting so the kids could take the pieces apart and reveal the horse inside. It is good we had five of us there. Four would also have worked but no less. There were three teachers there to help, also. With all that adult supervision the children were very well behaved. (Of course, a lot more fun than arithmetic!)

    Food Bank

Had a request from a local charity called Lancing Lions to make a box to go in their shop to collect food for the people of our community that are struggling thought it will need a sign of some sort so came up with this for it .

Thanks everyone. I'm getting the hang of it. New to picking blades, speed and types of wood to use. Only been doing this a few months so lots to learn and I definitely caught the bug!

    What a relief!

Yes. You cut around the subject with your table set at an angle. The degree of the angle is determined by the thickness of the wood and the size of the blade. If the wood is say, one inch thick, a good “relief” cut will allow the perimeter of the subject to protrude about a half inch from the board when pushed through from the back. Sometimes it’s nice to let the grain show through the entire piece, other times it’s cool to contrast it with stains, or paint.

  47. A few things here. You said the letter will be black and you are mounting to oak. Are you wanting the oak a natural color or will it too be black. I have done this before so I speak from experience when I say this. If you are leaving the oak natural and just painting the letters black, I would paint the letter with the back side flat on some cardboard so no paint gets on the back. I would then use Titebond III woodworkers glue to adhere them to the oak. What I like to do is lay out the letters on the backboard before gluing. When I have then aligned properly I make witness marks on both the letters and the backboard. Just small enough so you can see them. I usually put on bottom and one side. Now when you take them off and go to glue them you align the witness marks up as you lay the finished letters down in place. You now do not get squeeze out of glue or smears of glue all over the place. I use a real sponge when applying glue for things like this. I do this because it leaves small air pockets for excess glue to seep into and prevent squeeze out After the letters are dry and glue is set I would spray the entire piece letters and backboard with a marine spar varnish. Many brands out there. I would have painted the letters in flat black and let the varnish add any gloss that you choose. As I said i done this and it works well and if not in direct rain and bad weather it should last for a long time and if need be it can easily be touched up. This is my thoughts and my tricks when it comes to this. Good luck.

    Mdf primer.

Why the need for water based? I read South Africa was in the worst of droughts in 100 years and a solvent based primer would eliminate the need to use water to clean-up. Anyway I use tinted shellac. It seal and primes. Dries in about 20 minutes. It does require and very light sanding. This game was part pw and part mdf.
