    John 3:16

This is my attempt of the John 3:16 verse. Thanks Dick (Heppnerguy) for showing the one you did inspiring me to do it. I've had the pattern for a long time. It is 1/8" Baltic Birch, the backer is stained with General Gel stain color "Nutmeg". First time I have stained a backer and first time I have used a Gel stain and I am real pleased with how it turned out. I have had some real disasters with other things I have attempted to stain. The piece is 21" x 21". A free pattern from The Berry Basket.

  2. Since the subject of cutting rounds came up I decided to cobble up a circle cutter for my HF 9" band saw. It is one of the most used tools in my shop with the exception of my scroll saw. This was about a four hour project using scrap wood some of which has been in the garage for perhaps 20 years. All tools except for the table saw are HF. Nothing is square and the components are not all the correct thickness but it works. There are many photos as I tried to show it step by step. It is crude but works beautifully. I don't know how to separate the photos with text so they are some what sequential. All paint sticks are courtesy Home Depot. Of course if anyone reports the theft I will certainly deny it. Questions gladly answered.

    Name Plate

Did this for a guy at work who moonlights as a tattoo artist. Since Old English seems to be a favorite in the tattoo community, I figured to give it a try. At 150 points, it is still a bit fragile. Made of cherry with dogwood base and finished with gloss lacquer. Sorry for the size of the photo, it had to cropped heavily.

    For Heppnerguy

Dick ( @heppnerguy ) asked me to post a photo of my pocket angels that I give to people in need. The patterns are by Sue Mey and I think there are about 10 or 12 in the set, here is a photo of just 2 of them. Marg

Finished this yesterday for my Granddaughter. I want to thank Alex Fox for the pattern. It's about 8 inches in diameter. Made out BB plywood and one stained.

  14. This subject was brought very recently so if you go back and read some of the past threads you may find what you are asking. Alot has to do with the type of work you do. I use a porta cable block sander for over 30 years and will always use them. Fits my needs. But then again I have about 20 other sanders too so not the person to answer I guess.

  15. I have had a Festool Rotex I50 for the last 16 years and I LOVE it. Why, you ask: The sander costs a LOT but lasts FOREVER, The sandpaper also costs a LOT but lasts a long time, Very little vibration, Variable speed, Two modes -one for aggressive material removal -one for fine sanding, The dust collection is so good that my wife has let me use the sander in our living room.

Nice work. Middle one reminds me of a quote from Field of Dreams by Doc Graham. "You know we just don't recognize the most significant moments of our lives while they're happening. Back then I thought, well, there'll be other days. I didn't realize that that was the only day."

Really nice work. I too really like the quote in the second one. I may have to do the last one for my older brother. Although he just sold his bike. His wife use to let him go on a two hour ride each Sunday.

  27. A long time ago, I made something along these lines for my table saw. It was king of scary to use that jig and I don't have it anymore. You have reminded me of it and I think a jig like yours for my small bandsaw would be much safer. I think I will make one, THANKS!

    Graduation

A nurse at my mom's nursing home asked me about making something for her son's graduation. Had I not come across Scroll Saw Village awhile back I couldn't have made this for her. Thanks again Travis for the great tutorial. These things take me hours start to finish. I'd starve if I was trying to make a living.

  38. If you are going to get into things like that then just 45 the corners as another idea. A circle jig has to be one of the easiest jigs to make for a bandsaw. You can cut circles on a tablesaw also. basically the same principle. You can also make a template and use a template cutting router bit. Once set up any of those methods would be faster than cutting on a scrollsaw.
