  5. I have been away from the Village and out of my shop for a while. This is cut into 1/8" baltic birch plywood. It is 16" x 20" not including the frame, the frame is made from walnut. I have just under 12 hours of cutting time. The pattern is by Charles Dearing.

  6. If you hang them you could place a length of guttering underneath to catch the drips and potentially save some Danish oil for re-use. I got the idea from this video although this guy uses the guttering for applying his finish. Rob

    Key Ring Holder

Have had this pattern for some time , not sure where it came from . But cut it and my wife fixed the pattern where I could cut out my Cousins last name for he and his wife live in a giant fifth wheel camper and have limited space . But fiqued that everybody could use one of these and it wouldn't take up to much space , and they loved it .

  9. So, what is the most difficult scroll saw project you have done? These were tough for me because of their size, 40”x22”, and I had to cut the mirrors myself, which I wasn’t experienced in.

  10. My wife, Margaret, and I will be leaving this afternoon for a visit to Finland and Norway. In Finland, we will be visiting a (3 generation) family of 7 people that we have known for many years. I designed and made a few bookmarks out of fir veneer to give them as a memento. The books are very thin (1.3 millimetres thick).

  14. Hello again!! One by one, i´ll post the projects that i made before i discovered the forum, and since i started, so i hope you like them. This time, i want to share a photo frame that i cut some time ago. Using a monument called the "Letronas" (big letters) in Gijón, a spanish city of Asturias, for background, i made the pattern and this simple photo frame for me. Next to the frame, i leave you a picture of the monument, so you can compare it. I love the result, and hope you like it too

  15. Was on Pinterest and saw this Wiley Coyote (not sure if spelling is correct) and it made me smile. Good reason to cut it. Saw the two sayings on a t-shirt site and thought they were great, so made the patterns in Word and cut them also. Enjoy. Jeff

  32. Another source that I have used both for blades and drill bits is Otto Frei. They specialize in watchmaker/jewelers tools. When I was first exposed to marquetry the instructor told us about his source, Otto Frei, and the prices were good. Ottofrei.com.

  33. First there are drill bits out there that small but you won't find them at Lowes, HD or your local hardware store. Most places that sell scrollsaw blades carry what are called "Number bits". Here is one example: https://mikesworkshop.com/collections/accessories/products/miniature-twist-drill-bits What I like to do is find a bit close to my blade width (kerf) and drill a starter hole at both ends. It tends to give a more balanced and deliberate appearance.

  36. The dragon I did back in '02 and it took me forever, using my original Delta 15". I would cut a few of the scales and get frustrated and set the project aside for a few weeks and then try again. This went on for a few months Last year I did the Grizzly Bear and thought nothing of it (that was after I had cut the Viking Warrior with Scrappile's encouragement). Different saws and experience do make a difference. Jeff

    Community Consensus

I've had people lift some of my patterns from a photo of my finished project. It has happened to me on 2 occasions. I give away a lot of free patterns and information. I specifically didn't share these pattern because it was based on copyrighted material. In my mind, lifting a pattern from a finished project is basically the same thing as taking someone else's pattern without permission. If you really want the pattern, message the person and ask for the pattern if they designed it, or ask where you can buy the pattern yourself. Otherwise, you can always design the pattern yourself, using the photo as inspiration. But when designing your own pattern, make it your own and unique.

  44. I thought about cutting a couple of these but I thought people just would not be interested in having one. Funny thing is..... most of the time when I post something on my Facebook page that I, personally, am not very interested in, it turns out to often be an instant seller for me. I guess I just need to relax and understand that everything will spark the interest of someone Dick heppnerguy
