Just wondering if anyone made this challenging project before. Looks like it would keep a person busy for sometime. If someone has, I would like to know where the mechanical parts might be found. I would also like to know how the animals are made to go up and down. I wish Cherrytree gave more detail. It is an expensive plan, and I would think more info would be provided to help a person make a decision about attempting it. Guess I will contact them if I get more serious about it, not like I don't already have enough project in backlog.....1 point

Thanks Jerry, I was thinking it would have to be a little music box one like one I used when I made a Winnie the Pooch music box for my grandson, but I do not know if they would be strong enough. Didn't someone on here build ..... just searched it, @EarltheScroller did and I think he must have use these plans as a guide... if you look at the base fretwork and the middle. He hasn't been here in a while (January). Any one know his status?1 point

From the picture, it looks like the animals are scrolled. I looked on Amazon for a motor & found this, but there are others. To find others, Google buy 12v low speed motors. https://www.amazon.com/0-07A-3-5RPM-Torque-Electric-Motor/dp/B006W2HLSY jerry1 point

Fantastic pattern and beautiful cutting! I had to look up Norman Rockwell prints to see if that is what Gayle patterned that from. I didn't find any like that from Rockwell. Just astounding work from design to finished project. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse1 point -

Hi Paul - It's never too late. Like I said - I'm keeping the OEM clamps - just in case. Seyco has a round knob, that replaces the wing shaped thumb screw for tightening blades. I found that, when I use my fingertips, on a round knob, I don't tighten things to tight. But - every now and then, with that finicky blade, I grab the thing and crank it down and there you go. Maybe it's just the farmer/cowboy coming out in me - we used to tighten things down with the biggest wrenches and channel locks we could find.1 point

Tony, to late to worry about now, but could you put a different kind of screw in the bottom clamp that would not allow you to so easily over tighten it? Smaller knob or something. I have owned an Excalibur, and Seyco and never had a problem over tightening the clamps, but I have read of the problem several times.1 point

The reason I'm trying he Pegas clamps is, that I'm one of the guys who constantly over tightens the bottom clamp. The bottom clamp that comes with the EX is a cast aluminum (someone said what the alloy was, but I forgot). After a while (about a year) of over tightening, the bottom clamp will spread and won't hold the blade correctly. The Pegas clamps are made of stronger alloy that should prevent the spreading, I've only been using them for around 3 months, so I won't know how well they hold up for a few more months. The other brag about the Pegas clamps is that they are lighter and will reduce vibration. My EX didn't have that much vibration in the first place, so I can't say if that's a fact or not. Hotshot actually found a vibration meter or app for his cell phone. He did a lot more stringent testing that the rest of us did. I think he posted a lot of results on this forum, but, ig he's monitoring, I'll let him speak to that. They are a simpler clamp. For example - that plastic adjustment screw on the EX top clamp, doesn't exist on the Pegas clamp. They are easy to swap out and easy to use as the EX clamps. You can top or bottom feed with them. Having said all of that - I'm keeping my set of EX clamps and I still have two or three additional OEM bottom clamps. If the Pegas don't handle my heavy handedness, I can switch back to OEM clamps with little problem. I understand that they really shine on the new Jet saw. Handibunny put them on her Jet and someone else bragged about them on the Jet, also. But they would have to speak to how well they work. Are they worth the $80 - $90 to upgrade? I would recommend that you get used to the EX before you spend any money on them. I think you'll find the Ex is a good saw to use with minimal vibration and the adjustable aggression is great. If you don't have any problems with the OEM clamps on the EX then save the money for a night out with the significant other.1 point

Marge, you can click on the model of the equipment you have and download the manual. If it is not listed you can click in the high lighted text in the instructions and it will auto go to their email. You may have to scroll down a little to get to the Excaliburs but they are there. http://general.ca/manuals.html Oh, just noticed if you go to the review section on Excaliburs on this site there is a bottom to click to get the manual... Just click on it below! Travis is so nice!1 point

I also put used blades in a large can.. Scrap metal prices are up right now in my area last I checked was about $175 a ton.. Not sure how many blades will equal a ton.. but I'm workin at it.. and figure by the time I get to that ton... those blades should be worth more than I paid for them1 point
