    The Queen

When @neptunposted this pattern in February, I knew I had to cut it. Was not sure of the wood to use and then a couple of weeks ago I was in our local Winner's store. There was a serving tray in the clearance area that had been damaged and was 30% off. Solid teak and cost me $20. BINGO!!!!!!! 12 3/4 X 16 inches. Not sure if a frame is needed or not, still undecided, what does everyone here think? Thanks for another great pattern Sasho. Jeff

  2. A local beach town has a massive July 4th celebration that runs for a solid week. Arts and Crafts vendors get to set up in the local park for 3 days. With July 4th being in the middle of the week, it's Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this year. My first year doing the event. I've heard great things about the event from other vendors that I know. I set a goal of 40 puzzles a day and after getting set up this morning and the start of the event at 10am, I sold 34 in the first 3 hours. I started getting concerned about having enough inventory on hand. But I didn't have to worry for long, I only sold 9 the remaining 5 hours from 1pm to 6pm. LOL As is the case for much of the country we're having a bit of a heat wave here so the crowd dropped off big once the temperatures rose. So, in the end, day 1 was a success selling 43 puzzles. I'll be at it again tomorrow.

  4. Just wondering if anyone made this challenging project before. Looks like it would keep a person busy for sometime. If someone has, I would like to know where the mechanical parts might be found. I would also like to know how the animals are made to go up and down. I wish Cherrytree gave more detail. It is an expensive plan, and I would think more info would be provided to help a person make a decision about attempting it. Guess I will contact them if I get more serious about it, not like I don't already have enough project in backlog.....

    Prized Possession

It looks a little like Lord Baden Powell the founder of scouting. Very sorry to hear of your uncles story. Very thankful we had a generation that came before us who fought for our freedom ante freedom of others, Rest in Peace soldier. Fred Kahle (fredfret) USN Ret

    Prized Possession

Hope it's OK to post this here. This is one of my most prized possessions. It was made my uncle Charlie Knight Edmondson. I believe it is a Boy Scout. He was a paratrooper and was captured in France on June 6, 1944. He was executed the next day. Wish I could go back in time and watch him making it.

  11. Nice! Without looking at the plans, I could see a simple motor/switch setup, or better yet, some wooden gears/shafts/crank to make it go around. For the animals, I would have free-floating dowels (maybe have the top/bottom flattened a bit to keep them from randomly spinning in circles) and have the bottom of the dowel riding in a groove/channel in the base of the carousel. The groove would have a rolling depth, so that as the groove rose, the dowel was pushed up. Doesn't have to be very far, just enough for some up/down movement. Hmmm.....now I'm intrigued.

Hold on dearly to that piece of family history. I would write down as many details as you know about and maybe even get some family members to back up the story and place it with the piece so future generations will understand the sacrifice your uncle made.

Stunning! And personally, most patterns do well without frames when cut from thicker wood. 1/4" or 1/8" usually needs a frame, in my humble and oft-ignored opinion.
