    Off to the Races!

We're going to Berea, KY next weekend for a craft show and I needed a race horse puzzle! So I went to the internet and found a royalty free illustration which I used in conjunction with Judy Peterson's horse puzzle (FOX Publications) and came up with this design. bb

    Still Chasing Planes

Still Chasing planes. Found a line drawing of a Lockheed Constellation ( not a super) built a lot of bridges (3D paint). A beautiful Queen of the Sky. Looking at a Boeing 377 Stratocruiser for my next project. Missed the age of luxury flying. Too many trips on a 737 middle seat, row 24 and the vent and recliner were broke and #24 for departure.

  4. Hi everyone, Just wanted to show this word art sign I just finished. I want to thank Wayne Mahler for doing this pattern for me. He did a great job on it. I hope I did it justice. Thanks again Wayne. All you pattern makers are so appreciated that you can't even imagine. Us less talented scrollers wouldn't know what to do with out you all. Thanks again to all of you. Ralph.

    Prized Possession

Hope it's OK to post this here. This is one of my most prized possessions. It was made my uncle Charlie Knight Edmondson. I believe it is a Boy Scout. He was a paratrooper and was captured in France on June 6, 1944. He was executed the next day. Wish I could go back in time and watch him making it.

    what a find!!!

All these years of them damn things takin up space in my tool box, & I could never figger out how to use'em. Dad always said "to soon old, to late smart." I appreciate the education Mr. 3D. Keep your fingers from gettin' sticky, brother!;)

  8. I'm getting too old for this stuff... LOL 3 days of hell is complete. As a reminder, this was my first time doing this event so I didn't have any basis for what to expect other than hearing from other vendors how great it is. We were fortunate to have 3 days with no rain at all. But it sure was hot, same as many places in the country right now. The venue is a nice, large, wooded park. However my booth was one of the very few in full sunshine pretty much all day long. If I hadn't taken a large fan with me I'd have roasted. Anyway, all went well, I set a goal of 40 puzzles a day (with a stretch goal of 60 for the final day), my final numbers were Day 1 - 43 Day 2 - 42 Day 3 - 47 I'm consistent if nothing else. I'm very happy, especially considering it was Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. The event always ends on July 4th. So next year it'll be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and I'll likely sign up for it again since I did well this year. I'm skipping my weekly farmers market this Saturday as my inventory is depleted... and I'm exhausted too. I'll enjoy some cutting time the rest of this week while I'm still on vacation from the day job.

  9. Ya know what, most folks, myself included feel that it's a compliment to be asked for their help or advice. And, for me, I know it makes me feel good to be able to help someone who is in need. So, stop feeling like you are "bothering" folks. Just ask them. If they blow you off, that tells you that you probably don't need them in your life anyway. Other people join groups for not only the friendship and camaraderie but also to learn from others. Whenever I get interested in a new hobby, the first thing I do is go out and find forums like this one so I have folks to ask for help and advice. So far, I've never been disappointed and I have never been told I'm a bother.

Hi all I use to be a member under another name but due to family have not been scrolling for the a few years and it seems that in that time things have changed and I don't seem to be able to log on using that account anymore hence this new account. Still not got the scroll saw out yet but hoping to get back to making some saw dust soon. Looking forward to getting back to the saw and seeing what everyone else is up to.

    Miner

Having spent 25 years working in hard rock mines and being on Mine Rescue in northern Manitoba, when I saw this cut, I had to do it. Thanks to John Browner for his help in sourcing the pattern. 11 X 14 inches cut in more of my 5/16 reclaimed laminated maple. Jeff

    Pallet

I always wanted to try this. It’s from a pallet. It had poplar, oak and another wood I’m not sure what it is. It’s 30x24 and I used Walnut stain. I used my scroll saw to cut the pieces I needed. I like the way it looks. Thanks for looking.

  20. the hardware is available through CTT https://cherrytreetoys.com/carousel-complete-hardware-kit/ it mentions a lazy susan and pulleys(and springs) so id assume theres a rope/wire system involved in makin the animals go up and down.

    The Queen

When @neptunposted this pattern in February, I knew I had to cut it. Was not sure of the wood to use and then a couple of weeks ago I was in our local Winner's store. There was a serving tray in the clearance area that had been damaged and was 30% off. Solid teak and cost me $20. BINGO!!!!!!! 12 3/4 X 16 inches. Not sure if a frame is needed or not, still undecided, what does everyone here think? Thanks for another great pattern Sasho. Jeff

Jeff, Awesome pattern and cutting. That is one beautiful piece of wood. I really don't think it needs a frame. It would be hard to come up with one that would do it justice.

  36. Day 2 update, came up 1 short of day 1 with 42 puzzles sold. Almost identical pattern as yesterday... strong start, then when the heat set in the crowd thinned. Tomorrow is "supposed" to be a little milder, we'll see. With it being the big holiday day, the crowd should be huge after the parade. I've set a high goal of 60 puzzles... but my problem right now is inventory, I've run out of a couple of popular dog breeds. "Do you have an Aussie?" "Sorry, I've sold out of those, how about a Coonhound instead?" Hmmmm, nope, that likely won't work. LOL

    Paddlers

Neptune’s pattern, thanks mate I love this pattern and it was a challenge specifically with the 3/4 Japanese cherry blossom being dense, grainy and hard. Was thinking of splatter painting the frame and did try a color or two but went with straight black in the end poor lighting as i was running out of daylight.

    Frustrating beginnings

Welcome Edward. Most people would not consider your request for help as a bother so if you have someone local who can help you finish getting your new tools setup, please ask them. If not, check for local store or group who might have someone who can help. you've gotten good advice and help already here, not more I can add to that probably as I am a relative newbie myself to the scrollsaw. Yes, the piece you started with is ambitious, but looks like you are doing well with it. Just take your time and don't worry about little miscuts as already noted, probably only you will know once the pattern is removed any way. The main thing I wanted to say though is thank you. Thank you for your service to our country and to the world. As a disabled vet, you have paid a large price for all of us and our freedoms. I am sorry for your injuries that caused your disability. I am sorry that as a result of your service you suffer with PTSD, but wanted you to know that I and my family and so many others appreciate you, your fellow servicemen and women, and your families and your sacrifices. I look forward to your participation here in the Village and seeing what you learn to do with your tools. Good luck and God Bless.
