'Had a great time at the Berea, Ky craft show last weekend. Also a very successful show for us re sales. I'm attaching some pics. I took 8 of the KY wildlife puzzles and sold out the first day. Took an additional 10 orders on day 2 and 3 and will ship when ready. The race horse did well too - see Bragging Rights topic for image. The show had lots of helpful volunteers who helped us unload and load up at end of show. Very well organized show. bb5 points

Old work horses
OCtoolguy and 3 others reacted to zimmerstutzen for a topic
OK, I am a sucker for somethings. Tools and machinery are one of those. I already had a Hawk, a Skil, an old old Delta and an old old Duracraft. So I am at a yard sale and there is a portable craftsman, non variable, with a large motor that takes pinned blades. Even better, it comes with about a hundred new blades. very coarse tooth of course. So the lady has it marked $15.00 and as I am looking at it, she says all prices are negotiable. I went home $8 dollars poorer. I get home and I have a dozen pieces of bass and poplar already marked for cutting out for carving blanks. I looked over the saw and plugged it in. It cut lickity split through that one inch poplar like it was a band saw. In no time at all. I had those carving blanks cut out. Far faster than the Duracraft which is hooked up to a 1/3 horse motor. I have no illusions about the limitations of this latest machine. It was probably hot stuff back 30 - 40 years ago. It won't do those fancy little piercings that I have no patience for anyway, but it sure did the job on cutting those blanks.4 points -

Pull the nozzle off and put it in a dish of mineral spirits (old yogurt container) for about ten minutes or longer. Remove and dry with a paper towel and reinstall. Has worked very time. I do it periodically.3 points -

Pegas blade holder
OCtoolguy and one other reacted to scrollerpete for a topic
Received my Pegas blade holder today and installed it on my EX (10 minutes) what a difference, hardly any pressure to clamp the blade, less vibration on the saw also it maintain the pressure on the blade. I really recommend this new blade holder to me it is worth the money and more. Cannot go wrong with Swiss inventions.2 points -

Yeah well I found Bear woods to be $90 + shipping.. and the lower cost shipping wasn't all that cheap for something they claim to be light weight .. and with no tracker # is what it said.. being an online seller and dealing with shipping on a daily basis. I wouldn't recommend shipping anything without a tracker.. so that bumps up to the minimum of 10.83 for shipping now I'm over the $100 mark.. SHIPPING METHODS SMALL PACKET USA AIR $5.98 TRACKED PACKET - USA (TRANSIT TIME: 6 DAYS) $10.83 EXPEDITED PARCEL USA (TRANSIT TIME: 4 DAYS) $15.87 UPS STANDARD $14.91 UPS THREE-DAY SELECT® $27.90 UPS WORLDWIDE SAVER® $34.10 UPS WORLDWIDE EXPRESS® $35.632 points

I got mine from qtena (QTE North America) about four months ago. They are easier to use. Just to be safe I kept the OEM clamps for my EX.2 points

I got some patterns a while ago from Bobby ( @scrollriffic ) They are all Australian Rules Football teams and one Melbourne rugby team. Anyway i finished them a while a go and forgot to show one to you. I have sold two of these and now I am about to start the football ones. It's about 20inches long and 5 inches tall, the back is 1/2 inch pine and the Melbourne is 3mm Hoop ply, oh and the white is thick card. Hope you like it. Marg1 point -
Those of you that bought the new blade chucks... are the thumb screws etc the same? Specifically the inserts that go into the end of the thumb screw? While looking at the sites that sell these I run across some reviews on the pegas clamp.. one person asked if they sell replacement inserts because they damaged one, they asked if the site sold them as they was different than the OEM ones.. Now I'm not one that is typically a over tightener on those thumb screws etc.. Have all the originals in my DeWalt after a lot of use for 10 years doing production fretwork.. rebuilt the saw a couple times but the clamping system is still what came with my saw.. I just wondered since many of you replace these a lot.. might be worth looking into before a need arises and one assumes they are the same.... Maybe they are the same... I only asked because the review i read made me believe they are different..1 point

For years I have been a die hard fan of 3M Super 77. Now the last 2 cans are giving me nozzle problems. Instead of putting out an even mist, they splatter, which shows blotches on the side to cut. Not enough to be a problem. When I turn the can over to clear the nozzle, the hole fills up. Can wipe it OK with a Kleenex. I save old, usable nozzles, but that doesn't help. Appears to be a product that has changed. Don't want to print on Avery labels, as a lot of patterns are oversize. Applying the pattern directly onto the wood wouldn't change the spraying problem. Looking for other spray on brands, or glue sticks that you folks like. Thanks in advance. jerry1 point

I recently submitted an application to sell my produces at the VA hospital. They have an area outside the food court area for vendors to sell there stuff. Most item I’ve seen for sale have been hats and other military stuff, but since I make a lot of military items, I thought I’d give it a shot. I did good for my first time. I haven’t figured up what I’ve sold and my expenses yet, but I know I’ve done better than an craft show I’ve did this year. Should have taken pictures but I will next time.1 point

We have a True Value about 2 miles from us. Their website shows a 16 oz. can of 3M45 for $3.57. Just called & they have it in stock, so will go that route. As usual, there are countless people on this site that jump at the chance to help. THANKS ALL! jerry1 point

Where are you all getting these clamps from? I was just searching and found some different prices etc..on sale at a site called qtena? Never heard of them before but on sale and with the shipping cost is much cheaper than anywhere else I've seen so far..1 point

I used the elmers once when I asked my wife to get me a can in fact that was what my last can was.. I found after reading the instructions.. you have to shake it well and apply it heavy and never another issue with it...other than a 20oz can last as long as a 12oz of the 3m77 if that much LOL.. you go through it much faster1 point
-
My experience is that there are two types of can the 3M 77 come in.. I used to have that problem with the cans I used to buy but the last can I bought was from a craft store ( not sure what one ) but the can label and colors was much different than that of the other cans.. I didn;t even realize it was 3M77 until I was using it one day.. its almost gone now and i'll need to get another can.. I think I want to try the 3M45 that has been talked about in the past.. but if I don't see it.. I'm looking for the red and white can.. not the dark brown /maroon / black can that I always had trouble with. Maybe they just updated the can and labels? either way this last can was the best one I ever had.. It's been a long time since i don't use the spray much.. if the pattern fits on a sheet of paper I just print on the full sheet shipping labels.. peel and stick..1 point

Literally just got an email from Lazy Daze updating vendors with information. Here's the link to the site. Huge event, 350 vendors, 50,000+ attendees... Jerry, Are you using 77 for a temporary or permanent bond? I now use 3M "45" for temporary bonds as I was having problems with Elmer's repositioning adhesive. bb1 point

Iggy, you always have fantastic events! I never thought of us as competitors as we have very different items. Let us know how Lazy DAze goes this year. LAzy DAze is a class show! One of the few that gives refunds if you cancel within a certain time frame. bb1 point

Iggy, That's how Walmart makes up for free shipping if the order is over $35! Nothing is free regardless of how it is stated! Erv1 point

Marg, did you order from Wooden Teddy Bear because you wanted Flying Dutchman blades? If so, maybe give Bear Woods of Canada a try with their Niqua blades. From what I read they are the same blades, Mike used the name Flying Dutchman when he was sole distributor of them in the U.S. and Canada. That's what I read anyway,,,,1 point

I received an email at the end of June and they were very apologetic and asked that I wait another month before reordering. Well my blades finally arrived today, thats almost 2 months to get from America to Australia, seems that we are back to the bad old days of sailing ship and horse and wagons. Marg1 point
