I cut this pattern and used it for a #5 Pegas MG test. I had purchased the Pegas blades when I first started scrolling. I knew nothing about blades so I just picked up some Olsen blades as well as a dozen Pegas blades from Woodcraft. I tried the Pegas and did not like them as I thought they were too aggressive. I did not think I could control them. About two years later I had two blades left and tried them on this pattern. Having scrolled for some time they no longer seemed too aggressive. I found that they did not tend to wander off the pattern line. They worked very well on straight cuts. I'm sold. Last evening I ordered a gross including #'s 3, 5, 7, 9 blades. cutting is yet to receive a finish.4 points

Thanks Dave for taking your time to suggest there might be an interest for the intarsia people to see this. So far the response seems to be negative. However others may find this helpful Dick heppnerguy2 points -

I got some patterns a while ago from Bobby ( @scrollriffic ) They are all Australian Rules Football teams and one Melbourne rugby team. Anyway i finished them a while a go and forgot to show one to you. I have sold two of these and now I am about to start the football ones. It's about 20inches long and 5 inches tall, the back is 1/2 inch pine and the Melbourne is 3mm Hoop ply, oh and the white is thick card. Hope you like it. Marg1 point -
I had a project that came apart. It was hanging were the sun was on it most of the day. I used titebond 2. Only thing I can think of is the sun heated up the glue to were it got soft. Now the question - is this possible and is there a glue that wouldn’t be effected by the heat (sun)? Thanks1 point

Can anyone help ?
OCtoolguy reacted to heppnerguy for a topic
Hi, I recently saw a photo that someone posted, (I think it was on another page ) of a "she said yes" pattern of Steve Goods. This on was not the table top plaque but rather had been altered into a wall plaque that incorporated a surrounding frame that was made from the single piece of wood that the plaque was cut from. I am trying to locate the photo of this piece of art. If anyone knows where I can find it, I would really appreciate it. Remember, I am not looking for the exact pattern that Steve Good made but this variation. Thank you Dick heppnerguy1 point -

AS you may know, we moved a year ago this month from Oregon to Arizona. It was a long move, luckily my son and grandson helped a lot. They picked up a Uhaul truck, helped load it and drove it to Arizona. We sold almost all our furniture before the move and a lot of shop tools to make sure we could get everything into our U haul. Professional movers wanted over $10,000 to do the job. New furniture was less then it would have cost us to hire a mover. We ended up way ahead going that way. Good luck on your move..Getting old sure has it's drawbacks, even though it beats the alternative Dick heppnerguy1 point -
Pegas Blade Chuck Thumb Screws / Set Screws?
OCtoolguy reacted to Woodmaster1 for a topic
I got mine from scrollsawcomfortknob@gmail.com Marcus Bailey is the contact person.1 point -
I got some of those knurled screws with my Hawk... and for me.. they are harder to use than the OEM wing style ones.. I took them out and replaced them with the original style. Now.. the knurled heads of these was quite small... maybe if they had a bigger head on them they'd bee better..1 point
-
Yeah, I've never seen the gorilla spray before either.. not sure if anyone else here might of tried it.. but I figured since they was out of the one I normally use and this was the cheapest stuff they had.. thought I'd give it a try.. I'll post a report once I use it.. just note.. it might be some time because I don't use the spray glues very often.1 point
-
Tip if you’re buying this stuff at your local Walmart. Get it in the hardware section of the store rather than the crafts section as the crafts section is typically smaller cans and higher prices. They didn’t carry the one I typically use so I got the gorilla one. Anyone use this. Note the price difference in the pictures below. Also note, this can of 3M 77 is the one I have had issues with nozzles1 point

I have never done intarsia but I thought this product might be useful. https://www.stewmac.com/Luthier_Tools/Tools_by_Job/Tools_for_Sanding/StewMac_Sharkskin_Abrasive.html?lac_guid=db3d1747-3289-e811-80de-ecb1d775572a&utm_campaign=M1952&utm_medium=email&utm_source=EPA&utm_content=M1952_O_201807181 point

I don't do intarsia. Yet. But, I can see where this might have its uses for other projects. Thanks Dave.1 point

The one thing that I have noticed about the 3M 77 is the size of the can. It is much taller and slimmer than the older ones. It still has the same amount at the same price, just under $10 at Walmart and the 2 home improvement stores. The first one I bought did the splatter and uneven spraying until I shook it up than it sprayed ok. Keeping the nozzle clean is a must! Erv1 point

The Wilson one was a Steve Good pattern that originally had a hummingbird and flower in it. I removed it and put the wording in it. The top one I made from scratch and the other two I really don't remember where I found the scrolling designs.1 point

I noticed that someone was using a furnace filter to back up the patterns while spaying. I tried it and it eliminated all of the blow back I was getting from spaying on a piece of cardboard. No more sticky arm hairs. Phil1 point -

Pegas Blade Chuck Thumb Screws / Set Screws?
OCtoolguy reacted to Roberta Moreton for a topic
Does your blade slip or lose tension?. Does your tension lever release for no apparent reason? I was wishing I never bought my EXCALIBUR. The upgrade fixed it. For what I spent it was worth it.1 point -
Yeah Ray, I was thinking about doing just that if I hadn't gotten any replies.. Just figured someone might have tried the OEM Excalibur thumb screws and knew something about it.. Also just figured someone else may have talked to Pegas before buying them.. $100 is a lot of $$ if you can't get replacement parts for them.. granted they are made better and whatnot but I'm sure someone will wear out either a thumb screw or the tension lever sooner or later... The tension lever looks different than the OEM one so I assume they are special to the Pegas clamp.. also read the thumb screws are also different size.. so also probably a Pegas only part.. The webs sites selling these should list the parts if they are Pegas only parts.. apparently everyone assumed these parts was the same and haven't questioned it.. Maybe they are not different.. I don't know because I haven't bought a set yet.. All the reviews are geared toward the performance of the clamp.. nothing is mentioned about replacement parts for the clamps.. Probably just too new and nobody has needed parts yet..1 point

I use a drum sander, carving with a Dremel, a lot of cloth backed sand paper and other things as needed. While an interesting abrasive, as one who does Intarsia I do not have any interest.1 point -
I recently submitted an application to sell my produces at the VA hospital. They have an area outside the food court area for vendors to sell there stuff. Most item I’ve seen for sale have been hats and other military stuff, but since I make a lot of military items, I thought I’d give it a shot. I did good for my first time. I haven’t figured up what I’ve sold and my expenses yet, but I know I’ve done better than an craft show I’ve did this year. Should have taken pictures but I will next time.1 point

Like Brian I have done a few intarsia projects and it is 99.9% power sanding. I use a drum sander and a Dremel tool. The only hand sanding is with 320 or 400 grit as a final sanding before the finish..1 point -
I do intarsia all the time and i don't think i would be interested in this. Most of my sanding is done with my flexible drum sander and my power carver. I will also use my sanding mop.1 point

Pull the nozzle off and put it in a dish of mineral spirits (old yogurt container) for about ten minutes or longer. Remove and dry with a paper towel and reinstall. Has worked very time. I do it periodically.1 point
