I'm wondering if the joint was not covered with enough glue at the time of assembly, (a starved glue joint)?2 points

I cut this pattern and used it for a #5 Pegas MG test. I had purchased the Pegas blades when I first started scrolling. I knew nothing about blades so I just picked up some Olsen blades as well as a dozen Pegas blades from Woodcraft. I tried the Pegas and did not like them as I thought they were too aggressive. I did not think I could control them. About two years later I had two blades left and tried them on this pattern. Having scrolled for some time they no longer seemed too aggressive. I found that they did not tend to wander off the pattern line. They worked very well on straight cuts. I'm sold. Last evening I ordered a gross including #'s 3, 5, 7, 9 blades. cutting is yet to receive a finish.1 point

Tension knob isn't the correct name but since there has been so much discussion on knobs, I throw this in. Fortunately the Hawk uses 1/4-20 threads hardware is easy to come by. I don't care much for the little two wing knob so here are a couple of variations. The last one is the most comfortable and nice to use.1 point

I'm looking forward to read responses as I know barely anything about finishing wood.. short of just dipping in Danish oil or using my homemade beeswax/mineral oil mixture.. JT seems to be the finishing expert I think.. as he's always giving great detailed info on finishing..1 point

Glue + heat

This is a very valid point too. Sometimes when clamping pieces together we get too aggressive and that possibility can happen.1 point -

I love these pattern too.. They just use too much wood for my liking. but maybe some day if I find someone that really wants one. They are quite attractive but a little spendy on my budget Dick heppnerguy1 point -

Glue + heat
OCtoolguy reacted to JTTHECLOCKMAN for a topic
Those type glues are or can be affected by heat. But have to ask what was the project and was the actual glue lines exposed?? Just heating the wood is not causing it. It had to be in a hot temp area like a confined corner where no cool air circulates. You do not hear this often and I have to say the first I ever heard it. You can use hide glue, or construction adhesives such as Liquid Nails or PL 2000 Epoxy is also heat sensitive as well as contact cement. Now they sell high heat epoxies that can withstand extreme heat used in industries. That is a tough one.1 point -
Can anyone help ?

Hello, Dick, I'll continue to search but, I have typed in about every search sentence I can think of with no luck. About how long ago do you think this project may have been made? God Bless! Spirithorse1 point -
Dick, back in 07 I retired from the tool business. We knew at that time that without and income, we wouldn't be able to keep our house in So.Cal. The property taxes alone would have been out of the question. Anyway, we already had a big 5th wheel trailer and a CC dually pickup so we sold everything. I mean everything, and hit the road in search of that "perfect place" to retire to. Long story short, we found many places that were wonderful. For about 6 months out of the year. We ended up coming back to So. Cal. and found a great mobile home community a mile from the beach. It's not perfect but the weather is. There are many times in life that a person must make sacrifices in order to continue on. This was one of those times. We hate the politics, the crowds and the high cost of living. But the weather is unbeatable. Especially for us at our age. We are now closer to 80 than we are to 70 so comfort is all important. And, my wife is very happy as am I. Sure, I'd love to have my big old 3 car garage back but I'm very fortunate to have what I have now. When you are happy, nothing else matters. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.1 point

I noticed that someone was using a furnace filter to back up the patterns while spaying. I tried it and it eliminated all of the blow back I was getting from spaying on a piece of cardboard. No more sticky arm hairs. Phil1 point -

I am curious as to why Kansas City though. Any particular reason? I can think of at least a thousand other places to move to.1 point -
