    Compound cutting

Just finished these up yesterday. Made out of cedar and there about 7 inches long and 1 1/2 high. These are Steve Good patterns. I'm giving one to my son in - law who's a retired Marine. He doesn't know he's getting it so he should be surprised when he gets it. The Air Force one is for me.

  3. I want to thank Lawson for inspiring me to make this pattern. I cut all the lettering except for the large with a spiral blade. The scribble font worked well because none of the letters were straight. I am far from a pro using spirals and I don't use them unless I have to.

Just finished this one .It seemed to take me ages but I finally got there .The reason I am showing it is because of the large amount of Scroll Saw work involved in it.I am Quite happy about how it turned out but doubt if i would attempt something like this again .I have plenty of patience for my Scroll Saw work but not for something like this. Cheers Peter

  5. I was cutting my grandson's portrait with a Penguin Silver Reverse #3 blade. Before this I cut a pattern with a Pegas MG #5 blade and was impressed with how well it tracked the line. Today I put in the PSR #3 and noticed it tried to drift. I remembered someone suggesting sanding the right side of the blade which I did. I was surprised at the difference it made. I was delighted because I really like the PSR blades. They cut very smoothly. I just attached 220 sandpaper to a piece of wood with spray adhesive. I placed it next to the blade and ran the saw for only a second or so. Worked like a charm.

  6. Got a few done now and wanted to post these up. The Celtic square is from Bobsaw got to love his work. Worbler did the Pangolin from a request. Hard to believe they are an endangered species and people catch them and try to make pets out of them. On the Pangolin I hit it with a blow torch after cutting and was surprise by the way it darkened the area around each cut. Got to do this more often really like the effect. Thanks both of you for the great patterns. Had fun on these. jim penquin

    Drill Bits

I will get over to the shop in the morning and get the number off of the pkg and the bit sizes in the pkg and post them KM. There are several sizes in the pkg. I don't use the bigger ones much, it's the small bits i use the most of. That's the reason I buy so many pkg's at a time. That way I have the bits on hand.

  12. Hello everyone!! This time, I bring you a project that I made some months ago, piece by piece. It´s called "Freedom Wings", and the design it´s from the group of the main characters of "Attack on Titan", a manga (a comic kind) that I read. It´s made from 5mm plywood, and i´ve used the natural colour of the plywood for the right wing, and two different dyes: walnut for the left wing, and car oil for the spaces in the emblem and the base I leave you the design in which I focus too, so you can compare it with the result. I could make it blue, white and grey, but I think that all the wood tonalities make it special, and kind of personal too. Hope you like it!!

    Drill Bits

I have a HF near me and go there lots of times. I'm supposed to walk so might as well walk the isles there. I have three of their number sets #1 to #60 but have never seen individual number sizes. I'll check there this week. I use HF drill bits all the time. Especially on my lathes and mill. Never had a problem. Thanks Brad.

    Remote control

I use a cheap remote control from Menards and have one that was less than $20 for my Ridgid vac.

    Remote control

Here are the Amazon offers. I use the one from PSI, but I have the 220 volt version. The iVac remotes are supposed to be good, also. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_3_21?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=dust+collector+remote+switch&sprefix=dust+collector+remote%2Caps%2C173&crid=3CN9F576X7C8H

    Remote control

I've had one on my dust collector for many years now. I got it from Rockler and paid around $75. I thought it was expensive then they now want $100! It is a good one, like I said I've had it for years and it has never failed nor have I lost the remote for it. http://www.rockler.com/dust-collector-remote-switch I would think. you could find a cheaper one that would work just fine. They are very convenient to have.

  19. Marg, I love your idea about putting the ring in it. On my previous project I added mountains in the background and I think it too added something special and appealing to it. I am going to try and remember to make an effort to do that more often.. Also it makes the piece have a little more personality, if you know what I mean Dick heppnerguy

    A couple of new ones

LOL, yeah, I kind of stared at the "hook" and wondered if it could be tweaked a little. I may try to work on that if the puzzle sells and I have to make another one.

  21. Hi, Don, I went to YouTube and found the WWMM video by Steve Ramsey with this link. http://woodworkingformeremortals.com/beginning-woodworking-intarsia/ Once on that page there is a link that says DOWNLOAD THE PATTERN HERE. This link, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byv0IjzK8MhvYXBaN0JSelVNSTA/view may take you directly to the .pdf of the pattern. God Bless! Spirithorse

  22. Beautiful work. Just to keep someone else from looking it up: "Alnus glutinosa, the common alder, black alder, European alder or just alder, is a species of tree in the family Betulaceae, native to most of Europe, southwest Asia and northern Africa. Wikipedia"

  24. Interesting video. Amazing what can be done on an antique scroll saw. I did subscribe as I am a mere mortal woodworker.

  25. Yes Hawks can cut up to two inches. However, and that's just me, I would seriously look at the PS Wood scroll saws I have not seem a more robust saw. A brand new out of the box 21inch saw, steel stand and quick change blades with free shipping is $799. I have no idea why it is not more popular but my friend has one. It is built more like an industrial machine and yet can produce the very finest work. If I were to replace my Hawk that would be my next purchase. JMHO

  36. Removing the burr does not dull the main cutting teeth. The first few inches you cut will remove most of the burr. Sanding the back edges will make sharper turns.

  37. Some of the reason the PSR #3 blade cuts smoother than the MG #5 is because it's a smaller blade with more teeth.. The more teeth or smaller the blade.. the smoother the cut's edges will be.. This is one reason I like the MG blades as they are slightly faster or more aggressive cutting.. where I normally would use a #5 blade with a different brand.. I can cut with a #3 blade with the Pegas MG blade...

  38. I spent $400 on my like new 226vs. I could not be happier with it. So for my buck it is a great bang. But it all comes down the the saw's condition.
