I cut this out for my 10 year old niece for her birthday. Piece looked like it’d be quite fragile by itself so I decided to cut from thin B.B. ply and glue it to a star shaped backer from walnut. Dipped in Danish oil today and in a few days I’ll top coat it with some lacquer. Wrote a little birthday message on the back and dated it so she’ll have a lifetime treasure8 points

You will just have to buy a Hegner, they have one for it. Does your wives sew?? Or do you sew? Make them. Or... got some old bath towels?? For several years, I have tried to get my sweet wife... the sweat one, not the crankie one to make a cover for my Street Organ. I want it in quilt fashion, and to look like my organ... now, is that too much to ask.... do I have it..... NO! My one of a kind precious organ is covered with old bath towels!!5 points

Oh hell JT, what difference does it make? If the gentlemen want covers for their saws, than so be it. I've got every one of my scroll saws covered, & my table saw, too. The reason being is because when I am in the shop & have finish work or stainin' to do, I do it by air sprayer. The covers prevent any over spray or carry over in the air from landing on the saw decks. And it keeps them cleaner & easier to look after. Each to their own JT. Oh hey, don't forget to turn the a/c down under your scroll saws. I'd hate to hear ya had to build a fire under them to get them to run! Enjoy the day, JT!☺3 points -

My wife has been bugging me to try a portrait. I found a picture from a few years ago of her and dove into MS 3D paint. After a few hours, I came up with a picture I could cut. I'll try my hand on a few others in the next coming weeks for some of the family relatives. I hope I don't get disowned! LOL! 1/8" BBPW on 1/4" backer Gloss lacquer finish.3 points -

If you call Nikki at Bushton & ask her about it, they have a lady there in Bushton they use that has a sewing shop. She makes covers for all their saws. And yes, she has the patterns to create the cover, you just tell her what you'd like it made from. I don't have her number anymore, that's why I suggest you call Nikki.3 points -
That's a good question.. and I also would like to have one.. Might have to give them a call as they don't always have everything on the web site.. I'd like to have a couple of them.. also wouldn't mind one for the DeWalt and Excalibur.. since they all seem to collect dust.. I mostly use my old 220VS so probably wouldn't really need one for that one..3 points

Just finished this one .It seemed to take me ages but I finally got there .The reason I am showing it is because of the large amount of Scroll Saw work involved in it.I am Quite happy about how it turned out but doubt if i would attempt something like this again .I have plenty of patience for my Scroll Saw work but not for something like this. Cheers Peter2 points

Does anyone know what I could get a cover to go over my Hawk 226VS? I don't see it on RBI's website. Thanks Jim2 points

If you are spray finishing in the same shop you do woodworking all I can say is good luck man. Dust and finish do not mix but as YOU elegantly said TO EACH HIS OWN. Love your jabs.2 points -

I only had the police called on me once when making raised panel doors at 11:00 pm. They shined the flashlight in my eyes while I was using the router. After I got done telling them unsafe that was I told them to get the decibel meter out to see if I was breaking the noise ordinance. I only did that because of flashlight deal making it unsafe for me. I got to finish because with the doors closed I wasn't breaking the noise ordinance which didn't make them happy.2 points -
I keep my table saw covered. It is one of the cats favorite sleeping places and I do not like rusty cat prints on my table saw.2 points

I guess I did not use enough of these. Another suggestion if the air conditioner covers won't work, Harbor Freight sells many size tarps that probably can work. Maybe a outdoor grill cover will work. Here is a site that has all kind of covers. http://www.the-cover-store.com/equipment-covers/outdoor-full-air-conditioner-covers?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=BING | OUT | AC | SEARCH&utm_term=air conditioner covers&utm_content=OUT | AC | SEARCH | US | Air Conditioner Covers2 points -

Wow we are now babying our saws. Do you need to put a heater under the cover too to keep it warm at night. None of my tools in my full woodworking shop have ever had covers and that includes 4 scrollsaws. If you really need one them maybe an air conditioning cover may work. Home Depot have them for cheap money. Do they get dust on sure but so what, it will not effect bearings and anything else on them. They are made to get dusty.2 points -
Thank you for all your replies. I will give the skip tooth blade a try. Its kind of weird though this saw is 15 plus years old and I never had this happen. Maybe its time to retire it if the skip tooth doesn't work.2 points

Yeah very true.. The car themed stuff seem to be my hottest selling items I offer.. And around the world is right.. Send many of these to Australia, Canada, and the UK... Few to Italy too.. I also think it's really cool that something I make here in my little shop in southwest lower Michigan.. is sent all over to many different states, countries etc..2 points

This link, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byv0IjzK8MhvYXBaN0JSelVNSTA/view may take you directly to the .pdf of the pattern. God Bless! Spirithorse2 points -

Well, for some fun, go to his site and look up the plans for his "Marshmellow Crossbow". I made 4 of them to give to family members. They a great fun to make and play with.... wear eye protection.... Surprising how a fast moving soft marshmellow can feel in the eye... Here you go I found it... fun https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Byv0IjzK8MhvUFZNWElSSXozZjg/edit2 points -

I used to be quite active in a number of scroll saw forums, but due to a few different things gave it all away about 6 years ago. Finally got back down the shed, serviced the saws and am having a great time breathing saw dust. Cheers1 point -

My shop has an insulated door but it faces North so I can't say how much it helps with direct sun. I know it helps in the winter so I think it will help you.1 point -

I have insulated doors in my shop, Which is a double car garage, But since we live in Southern Arizona and through the summer most days are in the 100 to 120 degrees, it still get hot in the shop. I do have a mini split air conditioner in my shop. The sun comes up very early in the morning and as soon as it gets higher then my neighbors single story house across the street, I am hit with the direct sun hitting both my doors. Outside at 6 am it is already 82 degrees, but sometimes the coolest it gets outside is 90 degrees. I start my AC right after I get up, if I am going to work in my shop and about the best I can maintain is 84 degrees. Without my AC it would get to 104 degrees by noon or so. Do the insulated doors help, YES. Does that mean it will be comfortable to scroll in all day... Not for me. But an added T shirt that is put in a sink of water and rung out and worn during the afternoon works way better than you would realize. The spraying or misting oneself is a joke but the wet T shirt works wonders for about 45 minutes. Dick heppnerguy1 point -
