  2. Yesterday I had the opportunity to sell my stuff again at the VA hospital. This was my second day, the first was about a month ago. After expenses, I came home with around $450, so I think I did pretty good. It also opened up more opportunities for me. A lot of people loved my work, and I was invited to sell at other VA’s in our region. It was just dumb luck that I was set up on the day this hospital was hosting a meeting with all the regional canteen directors. I made quite a few contacts I will be following up with this week. I would saw I did good. Aside from sells, I made opportunities. Hopefully I can make this work.

  4. Client from Amazon asked if I could make her a 66 Dart.. not sure how I did on it but it's all I could do.. I made a sloppy pattern myself but I suppose it was cuttable as this is what I came up with.. If I make it again there will be a couple of slight changes but over all I think it came out okay..

  8. One week from tomorrow I load up the PuzzleMobile and head to Cary, NC for the 42nd annual Lazy Daze event. Over 350 arts and crafts vendors gathered in one place. It's 9 hours long Saturday and 4 1/2 hours Sunday. This will be my second year doing it and I have set a goal of selling 200 puzzles. I sold 153 last year, but the first day I wasn't able to set up the way I prefer, but this year I rented 2 spaces in order to maximize sales. We'll see if it pans out. Of course, weather will be the biggest factor and so far, the 10 day forecast looks decent. We'll see if it holds true. I'm still cutting in preparation for it and I'll take a final inventory count in a few days to see exactly how many puzzles I'll be taking with me, but I know it'll be in the 500-600 range. Silly me, I signed up for another decent sized event the following Saturday... UGH! But I'm taking vacation from the day job the week in between so that I can replenish my stock based on what I sell at Lazy Daze. Fingers crossed for good weather. Iggy

  14. Unfortunately this happens from time to time.. while I'm sure it's a daily thing with the USPS.. but that said.. I mail out about 700 - 1000 items a year with my business and it's only happen to me about 3 times over the last 8 years.. I filed my claims online and uploaded a picture of the damaged goods.. They mailed out a check and I had it within I think like 10 days..

    Things I've tried

I'm very, very new to this hobby of 'making' stuff, so I've tried several different things. A scrollsaw Butterfly, A 3d Reindeer, burning wood and an ornament from the forum book. I guess I'll settle down and chose just one thing to do, but for now I'm enjoying the freedom of retirement and flitting from thing to thing.

    Butterfly Message

Hi everyone. Just finished this a short while ago. I want to thank Wayne and Bob for doing two different patterns. I liked the writing on Wayne's and the butterfly on Bobs, so I combined parts of there pattern together. It's about 12 inches long. I have a question for you all. This is basswood and I haven't put a finish on it yet. Not sure what to finish it with. I was thinking on just dipping it in mineral oil. Any suggestions. I giving this to a teacher friend of mine who gave me the idea to do this. She had a picture of the saying on FB and I liked it. I have one more to do. The writing was really tough to do because of the letters being so close together. I did the best I could. P.S. Do you usually put a backing on something like this.

  19. I look at it differently. In all my years with what shipping and receiving I have done, which is not a much as some, but still, the amount of problems I have had I could probably count on one hand. Considering the volume of items they handle daily and as much handling as it all requires I think that is pretty darn good. Most damaged things I have received were magazines, but a lot of the blame for that, in my opinion is the fault of the sender's lack of packaging. Ones that are package somehow do well. And for price, next time you want to have something delivered across country, or even to the next town, get in your car and deliver it, then figure out what it cost you... Just saying.... Just my opinion, not worth the cost of a postage stamp!!

  21. G'day from Kalgoorlie Western Australia Brenda, You are sure to enjoy scrolling, I find it very relaxing (with the exception of those fine cuts that break away, but a few choice words fixes that ) I have not been a member of this group for long, but everybody seems keen to help out and are very friendly. 34. Being a cheap skate, that was a hard thing to get into my head - it just went against the grain I was brought up with. I know, blades are cheap. Sound silly but it true for me.

  35. That good Kevin. That's a lot of packages to ship out and only have 3 get damaged. The only problem I have is I didn't get the damaged box or contents back.

    A Rockytime Witticism

I change them when they break. I will keep the old used ones too, they will eventually break. That is their way of telling me I have used them too much. Works out even for that time when I replace the blade and it breaks as soon as i start sawing.

    New Excalibur

I have the jet saw, and very happy with it. As far as the barrel clamp for the bottom and just flip the tension for top is like second nature to me, I am thinking of changing the bottom clamp to the pegas set up, but not the top clamp, I like the ease of that. Also jet has sales a few times a year with 10% off, RJ

  43. I made this crayon holder for my friend's grandson. I found the pattern in a book of woodworking projects. The truck body and trailer are made from poplar wood. I bought the wheels from the local Hobby Lobby. I painted it with acrylic craft paint and finished it with a few coats of polyurethane. And yes, he's a big fan of dinosaurs.

    Not a Happy Camper today

Hi everyone, well I,m not very happy today with the Post Office. You all remember the Navy word art plaque I made for my Grandson. Well I mailed it out priority mail on 8/8/2018 from Ga to N.J. Well it got to N.J. In two days which was great. Well for the past 10 days all the tracking would say was in transit to next destination. Well today I get an envelope with the cut out label from the priority box that I sent out with a note saying my package was damaged in transit and there very sorry for the inconvenience, so I go to the PO to find out where the package is and they don't know. They said to file a claim. I say, how do I file a claim without the damaged goods. I tell them how could that get damaged when it.s made out of wood. They said just take a picture of the label they sent you and a picture of what was in the box. So I guess I'll have to make him another one. It was insured for $50.00 when you ship it priority mail with tracking. Thank God. Let's see how long it takes to get a refund. Well that's all I have to complain about today.
