    Camaro

A few weeks ago someone posted a Camaro. A pattern by Steve Good. I had downloaded the same pattern so I gave it a shot. 3/4" Poplar cut with #7 and #9 pegas blades. Stained with Minwax Gunstock penetrating stain. The base is MDF and does not stain well so it is temporary. I will cut a new one this week. I will spray with clear lacquer or poly.

  8. I found a 220 about 2 hours from me ad said never used but they want $500 for it. The woman said her mother in law bought it 2004 but never used it. I'm going to wait a week or so and see if it's still on Craigs list and offer them $300 for it.

  11. Well, I went into work this morning and guess what I found in the back of my truck? I swear, I don't know how it got there. But since it's there I might as well take it home don't you think. Motor Video Scroll Saw Video Model and Serial Number Video Well here is the story as I heard it: The story behind the saw is the mother in law bought it brand new in 1989 (she thinks) at the state fair, back when the manufacturers were still selling their goods at the fair. She had used it regularly up till about 10 years ago when her husband passed away and had to rearrange her life. Since then it has been sitting in the storage shed. It does run on all speeds and is nice and quiet. Came with the light and the foot peddle. I can tell the wedge in the back is worn so that might need to be replaced or reground at some point. I notice the upper are is different than the one on my saw. Not good or bad just different. I got it for $100.00.

    A Few New Ornaments

I figured since I had been resizing puzzle patterns to make them as ornaments.. I could do the same thing with my car clock patterns.. this is the first of many I plan to add into my website inventory.. Should be awesome sellers as my clocks always fly off the shelves.. I'll also add the duster clock cutting.

  14. I made that drive a lot about 20 years ago. Had a son that went to tech school in Laramie Wyoming. That drive was 13 hours. Nebraska is a long and boring state to drive through no offense to you Nebraska residents. We live on the east side of Iowa right on the Mississippi River. It was 5 hours across Iowa,7 hours across Nebraska and 1 hour to Laramie Wy.

  15. I saw both of your Hawks. They were a steal. I did not go after them as I only have room for my 220. You got wonderful deals.Hawks come up on Denver craigslist often but asking prices are much higher. Again congratulations.

  16. It got so that it is a yearly thing for it to go bad on me and I decided to make a change. i like the convenient things about it. So I decided to go to the to the Delta with a 5 year warranted and back it up with the Lowe's add on guarantee..I do like the stay up arm feature.Only time will tell if I made the right choice. IKE .

  18. No one in Colorado. I'll just keep looking here in Iowa.

  19. No, I'm not wanting to sell either one of mine. But if you have someone in Colorado, there are 2 - 220VS Hawk saws for sale in the Denver area. If I remember correctly, one is asking $225.00 and the other one is asking $500.00 but you get extra blades .

  20. Just dug our my original sales slip that came with my saw when I purchased it last year. Shows the original transaction was Dec. of 1998. I took a picture of the sales slip and was going to post it but it has the name and CC info on it so I’ll need to edit that out if I posted it for the original persons privacy etc.

  21. Maybe my Hawk is much more newer than I thought.. I'd have to look at the receipt again.. but.. I swear it said 1998 and I think when i called Bushton they said the same thing.. as the markings was on the box with serial number.. My serial number is 10290 .. maybe it was a 2008 model? I'm going to have to see if I can find the sales slip that was in the box with it..

  22. I went back and watched your videos. With a serial number of 6319 it is newer than mine. Mine has a serial number of 5614 and I bought it brand new in 1996 so I would guess it was probably 1999 instead of 1989. It looks just like mine same clamps and everything. Would you be willing to sell it?

  25. Appears to be another ultra series.. just a early one.. I'm not sure when they started making the Ultra series and when they stopped using the barrel style clamps.. but My older saw is a 1993 and has the older motor and the barrel clamps.. My Ultra is a 1998 have looked at some 1996 models that was ultras as well.. your new one here.. has a very low serial number so I'm thinking its older than 1996 or at least a very early one.. I don't think that is a 1989 though.. unless some major upgrades were done to it over the years..

    Jesus cut out

Had this pattern hanging around for a while so I finally decided to cut it out. It's 1/4 inch B/B with 1/8 B/B backer. Sprayed the front with gloss enamel. Measures around 9 x 10. I may hang it just the way it is. Found this pattern online.

    Candle protection

Hello Mr. Les. Tea lights are a small candle about the diameter of a 50 cent piece, and about a 1/2'' deep, usually in a small tin. Some aren't. They can be had at hobby lobby, walmart, a candle shop, any place in the mall that sells candles. Especially around the holidays. We ordered our battery operated tea lights out of one of Mary Anns' hobby magazines. We got like 30 or so for $10. I still have some in the shop. I feel a lot safer with them in our tea light projects than a live candle. I always give folks the option of the battery type light, or them purchasing their own candle, and explain to them why we chose the battery type lights. Most folks understand our reasoning behind it, others are stuck on the traditional candle. And I explain the hazards of wood and fire to them, and also, in the past, I have had a couple customers even try to make me replace their project because it caught on fire using a candle. I relieved myself of those responsibilities when they bought the project with the choice of the battery type lite or without one.

  33. Thanks everyone, I ran to Lowes and picked up a small can of PBBlaster and a small wire brush. When I get tired of cutting tonight, I will try and clean those bolts. Thanks Jim

  34. My saw is fairly new (1 year) so I do not have that problem. However, I do have some nuts and bolts that are used for other things. And they get nasty and rusty. I am not real familiar with the "guy" methods of cleaning things, But I have had good luck putting mine in my jewelry cleaning sonic cleaner or my tumbler with Dawn dishwasher soap.. I love shiny stuff.

  35. True enough, Mr. Ray! WD - 40 isn't worth the the can it's put in. PB Blaster is a good product. Well worth the money. But if you're using the wheel on your grinder, like Mr. Ray, I would highly recommend investing in a brass wheel. Especially for thread clean up, anything aluminum or brass, things like this. A steel wire brush has a tendency to dig into softer metals during the cleaning process. A brass wheel is a softer metal wheel, and less apt to want dig in to softer threads and softer metals during cleaning. The diesel fuel will help to dissolve the rust and corrosion on your bolts, and inside the nuts. There are other cleaners you could use, but diesel fuel is my go to because of its "aroma";), & and its rust dissolving qualities. An old truck driver takes in the diesel aroma every chance he gets!:):) Every one has their own recipe. Just figure out what works best for you, and go with it.

    Taking Inventory

Edward, if you are serious about keeping an inventory, I have found QuickBooks for business the best and easiest way to do so. I used it for over 20 years in my husbands business. When he retired, I use it to keep track of my business items. You give each item a name or number, enter it into a category, give them a price, and check that you want to keep track of your inventory. It will do that automatically, both with sales items, equipment, supplies and any other thing you can think of. The beginning entry is the most tedious, but once done,it is a cinch. You can check QuickBooks out on YouTube to see if you want to try it. The program can be costly. Now that I am retired, I keep it super simple. I take a photo of each style (or item), put it in a catalog style listing with a number and just keep track of "on hand" and "sold" items. Of course it does show the price too if there is one. 80% my items now are not sold, but donated to my local Toys for Tots Foundation. I only keep track of what I cut for friends or family so I do not duplicate a gift.

  40. I hate WD 40. It's too corrosive for my liking. I use a brass bristled brush and Howes oil. Or some sort of penetrating oil. If you want to see just how corrosive WD is, spray some on a pad of 0000 steel wool and just let it sit for a while. Eventually, it will be gone. Bottom line though, is get a brass brush. Harbor Freight sells them pretty cheap. I keep a bunch of them around for my gun cleaning and other stuff. But, I very seldom ever use WD 40.

    Taking Inventory

I did a photo inventory of all my tools in the shop a while ago. I have had some of the tools for over 20 years and understandably the receipts are long gone but I have a running record of things I have bought on line or in the box stores or Wood craft. I keep all the pictures on a disk and filed away. The expendables are expendable so they are either used up or outdated and thrown away. I don't really sell my items so what's finished is either in the house or with friends or relatives.
