    Cuckoo Clock

This is a project I completed earlier this year. Not an old time bellows cuckoo. It has a working electronic cuckoo.

  7. I have the most helpful friends ever out here!!! It's so nice of you guys wanting to help me out with this saw. LOL Kevin, they're kids books, but some time when you're bored you should look into a series of books called "The Great Brain". Absolutely my all time favorites from when I was a kid. Written from the perspective of the younger brother telling stories about his scam artist older brother. Absolutely fabulous. And yes, I think you and I may be twins separated at birth.

  8. Could always sell raffle tickets to win it.. sell enough tickets to pay for the saw and maybe a little extra for the time and hassle you went through.. say $10 a ticket and once X amount of tickets sold is when the drawing will be.... LOL that way you can get your money back.. and some lucky winner will get a saw for $10 well unless they buy several tickets.. .. I've done some things like that in the past to sell something that otherwise wouldn't sell for the amount I had invested... I'm sure many folks would gladly pay a shipper the money to package and ship the saw to them.. that is if you have a local packmail or pakNship type store where you can just drop it off and they handle the rest.. See, I was born to be a wheeler dealer sales type person.. it's in my DNA I think.. LOL

  11. Ray, little story about me and my wheeling and dealing, LOL... I don't remember doing this but my parents tell the story all the time... I was the youngest of 7 boys... when I was about 4-5 ish years old I saved my allowance.. and my older bothers (oldest ones was teens and just driving) .. anyway.. they always spent all their money.. and I was always saving for that big expensive toy.. so before next allowance or their payday... at least one brother would be broke and want to borrow money for something.. i became the bank to them and caught on quickly.. they would borrow my money but they had to pay me back with a few extra $$ for the borrowing opportunity.. If one brother declined that deal another would bite on it before the next allowance came around.. My dad says I made like $100 or so in just a few months loaning money and making them pay extra back.. so.. just a little history about me and wheeling and dealing... LOL like I said.. I think I was born this way... Not too many deals in my life where I didn't figure out a way to come out ahead on deals.. yeah I've bought things that once I got them realized I'd have a hard time getting my money back... somehow I always manage to figure a way to do it..

Nice work. I too have a pin end machine from Aldi, I love it and wouldn't part with it for the world. I also have an Axminster Trade Series 18 which I use for more intricate work, but there's lots you can do on the pin end. xx

I just finished this Alex Fox pattern. It took a while, and my Dewalt developed issues when I had about 75 cuts left to do and I nursed it through. 1/4” Baltic Birch, mounted on nominal 1” Poplar. 252 cuts!

    Got New Wheels

I bought a Lincoln 125 mig about 15 years ago. I loaned it to my best friend who was building a 7 1/2" gauge locomotive. A few weeks ago I got it back. He had to rummage a bit to find it. Another friend is building devise to twist dog bones from polypropylene rope for dogs. He needed the welder so I gave it to him in exchange for putting another gate in my DC and two dog bones.

    Got New Wheels

I have a good scroller friend who is also a welder by trade. When I showed him how I sat he offered to do something similar to what you said. He is a fabricator and could do so handily. But my system is so comfortable for me that I have no desire to change things. He's the friend that welds up horseshoes for me to make clocks. Friends are wonderful to have and that's why I am here!

  21. love your story.. When the little brother outsmarts the older ones. I had a guy in my Army squad that used to loan money. He set his fee pretty high but to make sure he got his money, he would demand they give him some collateral item that was worth a lot more then the borrowed money. He would give them one day after pay day to pay him back and then he would sell the collateral item for what was owed him. It worked really well, as I have no doubt he would have sold the item as he said he would but I do not remember ever hearing of him having to do so. Dick heppnerguy

    My first go at letters

I've bent many a pin-ended blade trying to make tight turns. One of these days I'll scrape together enough allowance (and my wife will approve) to get an Excalibur. Until then...I'm finding that the only limiting factor for cutting with pin-ends is the size of the pilot hole. You can still do some pretty gnarly stuff with them!! Awesome cut!

  25. I'm very much the same way. I guess that's why I was quite successful in the mobile tool sales business for almost 40 years. I still want to read Trump's The Art of the Deal. I'm going to before I die.

    Small band saw needed

I agree with Stoney. I bought my Delta 14" with the enclosed base, in like new condition, for $300 on Craigslist too. In fact, I have bought all of my larger tools used off of C/L. With the exception of my Rigid oscillating spindle sander. I got over anxious and bought it new. Not long after I bought it, one showed up on C/L for half of what I paid. So, with that said, don't be in a rush. Be patient and a deal will always come your way.

    Hawk G4??

This and the fact that there is a wide variety of blade holders in his homemade blade holder rack with several tubes.. He certainly wasn't new to scroll saws... kind of makes me think that the saw was possibly put to a lot of use... Not certain of that.. but... Also why I feel whoever listed this.. doesn't know much about the saw.. since they gave no details about the saw nor the blades etc etc... I could be wrong in assuming that though.. I emailed them yesterday afternoon.. still no reply back.. saw has been listed for 15 ish days.. so maybe it's gone... which is something that really annoys me.. if it sold take the ad down.. but since they took so much effort to clean the saw I sort of think they'll take about the same effort to remove the ad, LOL

    Small band saw needed

If your not in a big hurry I would suggest checking Craig's list I just bought a Wilton 14" model 8201 in very good condition for $300. The seller then loaded the saw on a trailer and delivered it right into my shop. It is made by the same company that makes Jet, and Powermatic saws. In fact it is the same saw as a Jet 8201K that sells for in the $1500. range. It has a gear box, range 39 to 3300 sfpm, and can be used for wood or metal. I don't intend to cut much metal with it but it has the capability if the need arises. You didn't say new or used but if you are patient there may be a good deal to be had.

Riser block raise the top of the saw, mine raised it 6" for more clearance to resaw wood. I went from a 93" blade to 105", from being able to re-saw about a 6" wide board to around a 12" wide board. http://www.grizzly.com/search?q=(riser+AND+block)+OR+(riser+OR+block)

  44. As I said earlier, I have the 10" Rikon. I put the Carter Stabilizer Guide on it and with a small blade can cut very tight curves. I also have a 16" Jet for resawing and heavy ripping or cross cuts. The 10" works great for stuff too big for my Hegner Scroll Saw. I end up using it a lot. So much depends on what you want to do with it. If it is resawing, then the 14" is much better.

  46. I've got to ask.. are you looking for puzzle patterns or something like a model car type pattern? You mentioned so the lad could glue it together so I don't think we have anything here in the pattern library on this site.. But if puzzle patterns you could buy some patterns from Scott at www.woodcraftbyscott.com Hope I got that right.. believe he has several car / truck and maybe tractor patterns.. Below is a photo of a couple of puzzles I did from him..

Check out http://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/index.php Not sure where the link will take you but do a search for truck.. there is a couple toy type patterns there that might suit your needs..
