this was a church craft show @ $20 per space them furnishing one table but you can bring more if it fits the space .I had 2 tables This is the first day of cold weather and That brought the traffic down The temp was about 22*F. It was a spacer buying crowd but I did manage to $188. that put me up $78 over expenses for the year. This is a hobby and my main ogle is to pay expenses and I have my next sale is in 5 days It's a free-by and they feed you so I can't go too far wrong. I do this ever year and I usually get between $200 and $300 for the show Then my last sale is Dec. 8 I should be close to being out of stock I like these little Church sales The food is always good and at a good price, I will let you know what I do on the 15th. The Christmas tree was a request from a very good friend, she wants to display all the Christmas decorations that I made for them over the years. The star at the top of the tree is a pattern from Russell (Birchbark), Thanks Russell it came out great and the receiver really like it so big bonus. The other items are different things that I cut this week, getting ready for Christmas and less than one month before we leave for Arizona. The cactus are not finish yet, will drill holes and insert round toothpicks in them, will do that when I get in AZ (gift for the place we stay at).5 points -

Going to try this from my phone. I have been doing a little cutting getting gifts ready. Some of these are consigned to a scholarship fund where I will get $1 each from each piece to cover some expense and the balance to the fund. In the third picture, there is a quarter in the center for perspective.4 points -

Have been very busy lately doing other things but now have time to do some scrolling again & some relaxation time with my saw.Had an order for this one & the customer said he would take as many as I could make for him. He wants anything to do with cars ,motorbikes & hot rods. He wants to line the walls of his office with them so I am going to be busy for quite some time. Thanks to Grampa for the pattern3 points -

Now I have to get busy on Items that I sold. Next week I have a two day show. Those little $5 ornaments really add up.3 points

It's been quite a few years since I have been active on SSV. Sorry about that. Just wanted to say Hi and I hope to be active, and contributing member once again. Missed you guys. JamminJack2 points -
Just wanted you all to know I’m still alive. It was a very serious surgery. I had complications from pain meds, and am still in the hospital. I’m hoping to be home for thanksgiving, but no guarantees. I’m still very foggy so this is very hard for me to do not to mention the smoke from the fires. You have all heard about the shooting here in Thousand Oaks. I’m in the hospital that the Sheriffs officer died. So it’s been a tough time for me. I’ll check Bach in in about a week or so, Dan2 points

Looking for a New Saw
lawson56 and one other reacted to jamminjack for a topic
Hey Bob, for a minute I thought I was reading my own post. I also have a Porter Cable. It is now making some amazing sounds, I can't even explain. I have fixed, poked, rebuilt, transformed, and prayed a lot. But now I really feel its time to upgrade. I used to refer to it as my Full Blown Porta Cable. I just have to hope it holds together until this seasons Christmas gifts are finished. Three more to go. Then NEW SAW TIME. Its been a long time coming. Keep us updated on what your choice is. I am leaning towards the 788. So much information on keeping up with that saw, and rebuilding etc. I like to tinker, so I feel that will be my next toy.2 points -

Another discovery in my search. I have made about 5 medal boxes in total, all slightly different. This one depicts a Light horseman on the front, the Rising sun badge on top and a famous photo of Australian troops taken on the Western front in WW1 on the rear. On other boxes I have changed the horse for a donkey in recognition of one of our most famous soldiers from Gallipoli, "Simpson and his Donkey" https://www.awm.gov.au/articles/encyclopedia/simpson1 point

I was searching some old drives looking for a particular pattern that I was sure I had, maybe I dreamed it, or I just haven't dug deep enough. However I came across some photos of a jewellery box I made for my wife. She need another as this one is over flowing now. enjoy. I used Pine, Jarrah and Merranti, and the bands are Tasmanian oak.1 point -

Sanding issues
amazingkevin reacted to Tomanydogs for a topic
So I'm making a bowl and using different woods. A strip of walnut and a strip of I think maple total of seven alternating strips in all. I cut the 2" strips with the scroll saw followed the line but still not perfect. We have a table saw, but I've never used it (scared of it, I should get someone to show me the proper way to use it then I would probally be okay).I don't have a table planer, I do have a hand planer but for the life of me I cant figure out how to get the knife to move to adjust it. Any way, I've got my palm sander pressed in the vise upside down trying to even out the edges of these 2" strips and I'm have a heck of a time getting them flat so that the strips will butt up before glueing. My question is am I doing what I can or is there a better way? At the rate I'm going there might not be much left of these strips.LOL. Any suggestions would be very much adppreciated. Thanks Irene1 point -

Craigslist can be good. If you are on FacePlant Facebook, check out Marketplace - like Craigslist, but you can see who is selling because they have a FB page. Look for a Hawk or Hegner (I love my Hegner).1 point -
Storing Projects.
Dave Monk reacted to JTTHECLOCKMAN for a topic
I never store my items in the cold and in fact I will not even put my craft stuff in the truck until the morning of a show. Wood products will expand and contract due to moisture and temps. Just the nature of wood. Now depending on the type of projects you make can have an effect of cracking. If the items are glued the glue can crack. If the pieces are thin veneers they can become brittle. Just my thoughts. This applies for heat in the summer as well. Extreme temps is not good for finished craft projects.1 point -
You did a perfect job on the plaque Peter! Thank you for letting us see, Bob1 point

Since I'm trying my first craft show today I'll be staring any unsold thing in the garage over the winter, I wouldn't expect any damage from the cold. I hope I sell something I don't want to store it all!1 point

I have a ROK I've googled how to use it, how to set it up, I've had it apart so many times trying to understand it, but to no avail. Our school won't let adults learn liability reasons. But yes I need to take a course on planers and table saws.1 point -
