Christmas cut
Lucky2 and 3 others reacted to RabidAlien for a topic
Thanksgiving is almost here, so I needed something to replace the Thanksgiving Trivet (Steve Good) hanging on the wall at work. So....another Steve Good pattern. The dude is so good, the word "good" was named after him. (sorry, been a long day, that's the best I could come up with. No worries, I won't quit my day job) 1/2" Oak ply, cut amazingly well with few feathers to clean up afterwards. Also planning on working a couple of my own patterns this weekend, the "It Is Well With My Soul" pattern with the musical notes for one of my wife's friends, and the "Queso IS Life" just because queso deserves the recognition. Haven't decided if I'm going to try painting the little blob of queso on the "e" or not.4 points -
Farmers Friends

Made from scrap wood. Sizes for each entire unit is about 30 inches long, 6-1/2 wide and 7 tall. These are toys, not intended to be models. Built sturdy enough that they should stand years of play. Also generic -- no brands implied either. Cut with scrollsaw . Used a lot of other tools too. Pattern by T. & E. designs as many of the ones I use are. Fun to make. Blue one is for a great grandson that likes to be with me in the shop.4 points -

Christmas is coming
frankorona and one other reacted to don in brooklin on for a topic
Each year at our Christmas dinner I make place markers for everyone know where to sit. Started back 8 years ago with Steve Goods personalized ornaments. Over the years I have done mostly ornaments but have done sleighs, last year dangles and this year we have snowman ready to go. 19 expected for diner. The pattern is by Sue Mey( modified), decorated by my better half and the laser broom by a friend at our club. There are 5 designs but all decorated uniquely.2 points -
Drop cords are the only way to go If you have lots of them and your machinery is permanently placed.2 points

Mine has always been saved as well.I just had to redo my password again,The same one.It asked me if I wanted to save it as before,I don't know whats going on.Maybe I have been bad.I hope not.Don't want no coal for Christmas.2 points

6 years since I built my new shop.. I said the same thing.. not putting up finish the walls on the inside until I have everything set up the way I want it.. well... I still don't have it the way I want it and quite frankly.. I'm more confused about how I want it that I was in the beginning, LOL.. One thing I know I want.. is several power outlets in the ceiling... I put most of the outlets on the outer walls... and I don't like all these power cords running across the floor and tripping me up at times.. Not Cool to have it like that with saws.. But not totally sure hanging cords from the ceiling to the tools is going to be better or now.. then if you handle long boards.. they could get into the cords that way too..2 points

More of a bandsaw project but these were lots of fun to make. I don't usually sell but I'm doing a Christmas Expo at my daughter's school. Cut these from 2X6's, pipes made of 1/2" and 1/4" dowels, eyes 1/4" carriage head bolts, carrot nose 1/4" dowel, brass nail buttons, arms are twisted #12 wire with white caulk on the finger tips, and caps are boys socks.1 point

Kevin, I was watching the news last night and they were inside of one of the vote counting centers. I noticed that at each work station, there was a cord reel hanging from the ceiling so the counting machines could be plugged in. That might be an idea for you. Put a few of them in strategic locations so you can just pull down a cord when you need one. I think I'd do that if my shop was bigger.1 point

Glad you got it all taken care of... sounds like you shouldn't never have any more issues out of this part of the saw now.1 point

Patterns are very nice and well drawn. They are printed on both sides 20X30". Instructions very detailed. Plans are inside an envelope glued to the inside back cover.1 point

Jessica would love these. Think I will show her these in the morning and I reckon we will be attempting to make something similar.1 point -
Well, here is an update. I received the used parts that I bought on eBay and tried to install them. The new bracket would only go in the grooves about a third of the way before it just stopped. So, I took a fine file and cleaned up the grooves and then I started taking some material off the sides of the bracket. I got it to where it would slide up and down in the grooves just with it's own weight. I applied some synthetic grease and reassembled everything. It now works like a charm. I readjusted all the guides and cleaned everything so there is no interference anywhere. I'm a happy camper once again.1 point

When your account gets lock it means you've been really bad... and also means you're on Santas naughty list... so you get a bag of coal for Christmas... which in my mind isn't so bad because last I heard the price of coal was kind of high... I'd sell that stuff and buy some wood... I haven't had any issues.. however I have mine set to stay logged in... I only have to log in when the cookies get stale and they have to throw them out and get fresh cookies..1 point

I just seen this and thought it's not a bad looking deal if it's really what they say it is.. Not sure but someone recently was talking about getting a new saw.. I personally not a big fan of Delta company but in reality it's the same thing as a DeWalt pretty much.. guessing most parts are interchangeable... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Delta-Power-Tools-40-694-20-In-Variable-Speed-Scroll-Saw/123488881835?epid=2254908595&hash=item1cc082ccab:g:0zcAAOSwmT1b6-Ev:sc:FedExHomeDelivery!49021!US!-1:rk:55:pf:01 point

Almost all my tools I bought when I first started woodworking was refurbished.. my TV's we have are all refurbished.. so yeah I buy a lot of refurbished stuff too and never a problem.. the tools such as my planer ( ryobi ) still going strong and I put a lot of BFT through that thing...1 point

I guess I didn't look at it that close... I didn't realize it was a refurb.. I did see the 90 day warranty.. and thought it was odd because I thought they had a 5 year on them..1 point

Got my shop up. Got electric run to it today. May take me a couple of weeks to get all the lights up and wiring done. I'm not going to finish the inside until I decide I have everything the way I want it. My wife will sure be glad to have me out of her garage.1 point

Not a bad looking deal. At least they stated it is a refurbished unit. Free shipping and a 90 day warranty.1 point -
I just received the two books Making Wooden Gear Clocks and Gizmos and Gadgets. I've only just flipped through them. I saw where metal machines were used. I dismantled my machine shop about four years ago unfortunately. I see a rotary table and dividing head used. That would certainly simplify things as would be a CNC router. Oh well.1 point

No, that would have been easier. I did them on my belt sander. It does make them look a bit more realistic I guess though. I was proud of my Dollar General sock hats. Folded in on themselves once left them looking just like a toboggan. Lots of fun making these.Thanks!1 point -
