Too excited not to tell somebody that will understand. My Dewalt 788 bit the dust a couple of weeks ago.Today I sold a very nice trumpet that was gathering dust which enabled me to order a Hegner Multimax 22V. Merry Christmas!8 points -

Rocker Finished - Ready to Scroll
amazingkevin and 2 others reacted to Sycamore67 for a topic
The project has taken me about 6 months and is now completed. The Maloof Style Rocker is made of Claro Walnut with lots of interesting and beautiful grain. I learned to make the rocker from Bill Kappel in Utah and went out there months ago for a week long one on one class with him. He has made many beautiful rockers and is a great teacher. He helped me get started and then shipped the parts and wood back to me in Indiana. The chair was a real challenge for me and included so many hours of grinding, shaping, sanding..... One interesting part was fitting the chair to my wife's liking. It involved setting the upper part on the rockers and then adjusting them for height and placement. This allowed the angle of the chair and height to fit her. The finish on it is 4 coats of Teak Oil, 4 coats of wipe on poly with light sanding in between and finally it was sanded with 1500 and 2000 grit paper and waxed with Butchers Wax. I did use my scroll saw on the project. Mostly it was to create wooden templates of some of the parts. It was interesting trying to get the left legs to look exactly like the right legs. I had never done this before and it was a real challenge. Now I am ready to get back to some scrolling projects and want to take on one of the truck models that I have seen.3 points -

Been wanting to cut a Nativity for quite some time. Finally got some time in my shop to get it done. This is Steve Good's pattern and made from some alder that @heppnerguy gave me. My wife and her friends really like a video game called Midnight Cinderella. I made some custom ornaments with some of the characters. The are thrilled with them. Here's a detail shot. Cut from 1/4" BB ply. The image is just printed onto copy paper. I also put some Christmas scrapbook paper on the reverse before cutting them out.3 points

I stacked cut three of these in 1/8 inch BB (12 x 16) for Christmas presents. The pattern is by Charles Hand and as designed, has 260 cutouts. I had to add a few bridges to stabilize some areas and to add the US flag at the bottom which resulted in a total of 297 cutouts. I copied the use of the flag at the bottom from an earlier post of this pattern by Scrappile (Paul). Comments and mild criticism welcome. Keith2 points -

Thanks and Yes and I ordered a few patterns from them also. The problem is when I go those sites I end up spending more money because I always find something else that catches the eye. I like to take patterns and rework and add or subtract things. I will be busy throughout the year for sure. I have the feeling back starting last year and after the health problems. As they say" I AM BACK BABY"2 points -
I just bought one and had it delivered less than 2 weeks ago. This saw is a game changer; I hope you enjoy. Dan2 points

I'm more interested in the trumpet. What kind was it and how did you sell it? I have a 1950's Antoine Courtois trumpet in good shape with original somewhat tattered case. I've seen the same on e-bay for over $1,000. Made in France and sole USA importer was Le Blanc. bb2 points

No pins except in the two pieces for the feet. I have seen these done with nails and to me looks cheap. The key is with each row they interlock to make it even stronger. believe me I have dropped these a few times and the worse damage was snapped the feet off but that is an easy fix. I use to make half a basket and put a flat back on it and it was able to hang on the wall. They did not sell as well as these. I also use to make a ton of those collapsible baskets that were trivets and they did well for awhile but i still have some that are about 20 years old. Stopped doing them too. The last of those style was this candy bowl basket that the basket part collapsed and the side pieces slipped apart. They too did well for some time but things go in circles. These baskets I have been making for a long time and they have stood the test of time for sure. Sold 2 at the last show. Sold one to a guy and he picked it up as soon as he saw it and no hesitation paid cash. I like buyers like that. Probably the quickest sale I made that day.1 point -

Thanks Rob. I think I am going to go with steps and they will have slots in the som I can just slide the boards in. These are going to be about 3 feet long so I get 2 sets on the table. I have made these before for my baskets that I sell but have always had to screw them together. Looking to make it easier and quicker. I will then add a shorter piece of either peg board or thin plywood behind it so I still will be able to hang some smaller items. I am trying to sell off my shelves and mirrors now so I do not have to deal with them any more. I am revamping the product line quite abit.1 point -

I usually do most of my Christmas shopping online. I hate crowds and the traffic. So I'd rather spend my shopping time online. Its quick, easy, cheaper, and my gifts arrive at my door in a couple days. I do most of my shopping on Amazon and I love it! Very convenient. If you shop on Amazon, there's a way for you to get your Christmas shopping done and support SSV at the same time. We don't have a large publication to support our operating expenses. Thankfully, we have members choose to pitch in a few bucks by becoming SSV Patrons. That certainly helps offset the costs of running SSV so we can keep the lights on. But we also participate in an affiliate program with Amazon. Basically, if you purchase something from Amazon after clicking our banner, we get a small kickback. It doesn't cost you any extra. We can't see who bought what, so no worries there. It's just an easy way to support SSV while Christmas shopping. I've added a small Amazon banner in the right side of the forum. Just click that before you begin shopping. I'll be removing the Amazon banner after Christmas. Thanks for your continued support!1 point
