    Amazing Grace

I used pattern SLDK459 from Sheila Landry's website and made a few adjustments. I increased the size to 110% and cut and past the patterns designed to go on multiple boards to apply to the single Ocooch oak plywood in the 16 in by 24 in size. This is now hanging in our church's Adult Bible Study classroom.

    Impossible Puzzle

I got this idea a couple weeks ago from this board. Instead of sawdust I used shredded colored paper from Michael's Presently I'm giving them away. Might charge a buck at craft shows. bb

  3. This is for my Grandson-in-law, who owns a barber shop in Paducah, KY. He just opened last year and the name on this is from his logo. The pattern is another one from Steve Good, which I added the name to. It is cut from 1/4" BB for the overlays and 1/2" BB for the backer, which is painted red. I got the movements from Bear Woods.

    Christmas Bell

My first hanging Christmas ornament. This is a FREE Sue Mey pattern that I have wanted to try for some time. I stack cut 2 out of scrap mahogany. Thought I would try some painting of one to see how it would look. It is about 6" x 6", and I reduced it to 75% of the original size. Still a little big for a tree ornament maybe, depending on the tree. My wife is going to hang it with her Christmas reef. It was a tedious cut at this size. Not sure I could accomplish it any smaller.

  5. I made a portrait of my mom's German Shepherd, George. She sent me a picture of him enjoying a boat ride and I created a template and went at it. I used Maple, Walnut, Mahogany, Blood wood (tongue), and paddock (collar). I made the frame using Cherry with Walnut trim. Enjoy, Dan

  8. I made these today at the request of my daughter. Many thanks to @bobscroll for the named ornament pattern, even more thanks to @rdatelle for letting me copy and put my own names on what was essentially a pattern made for him. The xmas trees I'm not sure where I found them, and the 'dog' one I made myself.

    Sometimes you say why

When I seen this pattern from Alexfox I said that looks fun. By the time I got all the pieces cut I was saying why lol. Wasn’t a hard project but I couldn’t find 4mm plywood that the pattern called for. So I got 5mm an run it through drum sander to take off 1mm. You have to be very close on your cutting for the pieces to fit snug.

    Fretwork basket

This is a fretwork basket that I make, 1/4 cherry with bamboo toothpicks for the pins. My addition to the pattern was to extend the tenons and pin them with toothpicks (trimmed to length). There is no glue holding this together.

  13. I have been cutting out Christmas ornaments for the past 4 years. Started out the first year on a Shopsmith jigsaw, then picked up a Delta 40-560. Then this summer found a Delta 40-540 vs and thought I would be happy with that. It does work pretty well as it has cut out most of this years ornaments including 9 of these ornaments for the grand children and their parents. This is a Steve Good pattern of a door ornament that I downsized for a tree ornament.

    I forgot about this

thanks to a post I saw today, I remembered that I too had made this Steve Good pattern for my daughter in Heppner, several years ago and while we were at her house for Thanksgiving, she told me that here Indian Warrior piece had broken and she would like me to make her a replacement, so I did, and here it is. I added a backer board to give it more support, so it should not break again. I sure was glad that 'toothpick' posted a photo of the one he made; It rattled my brain and helped my remember the one I owed my daughter. So I downloaded the pattern and went to me shop and cut it, a couple of hours ago. Ready to mail, tomorrow Dick\ heppnerguy

    F4U-1 Corsair

Back to doing Aircraft again (Lawson's taunt!) Always liked the Corsair. Aircraft went through lots of variations like regular canopy and bubble canopy and 3 and 4 bladed props. It was still being used by several countries into the early '50's. Cut on 1/8 BB with 1/4" backer. The design and lines are very thin and cowl flaps had me a little perplexed. It would have been tough to connect all the lines. Lettering went quick. Not sure what's next. They are predicting heavy snow in the upstate of SC this weekend so the car will go into the garage and I'll be out of the shop. Time to start hunting for some new patterns to cut.

    Glue Stix

it is Elmer washable school glue stick, I buy mine is the large 1.4 oz size and it lasts a long time. Just be sure and put the lid on when you are finished using it. Very inexpensive way to go and it works well. I have never had a problem with a pattern coming off even on intricate fret IF I put the glue on both my painters tape and the back of the pattern as well Dick heppnerguy

    Mr Blaster - thanks

@ Paul, Ray, & Flarud I stuck the red tube from the nozzle up under the shroud where the upper arm pivots, and also sprayed the arms that hold the blade holder. Raising and lowering the upper arm was not really an issue, just felt like it was kind of dragging. I expect over spray hit everything else in there, I did not take it apart. I said smoothed out dramatically, I honestly never noticed any kind of degradation in performance, that kind of thing grows on you as time goes by I think. Sprayed and ran the saw with blade but not cutting, maybe 2 minutes I could feel a difference, when I started cutting later on, just felt so much better. Jim

  19. I set my down feed on my drill press so that the bit only is make a small dent in the plank under my project. Using the smallest bit you have, will also help with the tear out. When you are boring fairly deep into your plank below the wood you are making the pattern from, then the tear out starts. keeping the bit from penetrating into the plank really seems to help me Dick heppnerguy

Well That would seem to be the answer yes. I always use blue painters tape on every project. I only use glue sticks when I am apply another pattern on top of a pattern. Makes it easier to reposition if i need to for better alignment.

  29. This was the first real project on my new Hegner 22V scroll saw. I call this one "A Starry Night In Grand Rapids" The frame is Walnut with maple trim and splines, the stars are made of various natural hardwoods. The night's sky was cut and airbrushed. I wanted to establish depth, similar to the perspective in the painting, so I offset he city's silhouette. As far as the LED, I have a strip installed that allows you to choose the color, brightness, or transition between colors... the options are pretty limitless. Enjoy

    Ornaments

So in addition to doing the two 2018 Christmas ornaments for my wife, I also tried some of the 3D ornaments Steve Good had on his site. 4 done so far. I'm out of town most of next week (business trip again), so I probably won't get a chance to finish up the last one, all depends on how the Christmas festivities and functions and obligations go. Fun cuts, quick cuts, but make darn sure your 1x1" blanks are actually 1x1. Apparently my band-saw blade started to bow out a bit, making the blanks a bit concave. Guess its time to see if they still make blades for that particular model (7.5" diameter wheels, old Black and Decker desktop model).

    Glue Stix

I use glue sticks most of the time. On my own projects I put painters tape down, then glue stick. For the kids at school, most of the time I just glue stick right to the wood. The patterns usually peal off nicely. I use school type glue sticks. Currently Elmer's disappearing purple school glue. I bought a bunch when school supplies were on sale in the fall.

    Glue Stix

Rocky. I use different methods at different times. I sometime use painters tape with glue sticks. I rub the painters tape with the glue stick and also the back of the pattern with the glue stick, The pattern has never raised from the piece when I do I that way. No residue on the wood that way. I have also used spray glue only on the back of the pattern but I use paint thinner on the pattern face and wait about two minutes and the remaining pattern literally falls off the wood. If is does stick a little I will use a paper towel dipped in the paint thinner and wipe away the remaining residue. If I am in a hurry and do not wish to wait for the paint thinner to dry so I can start to put on a coat of finish, then I use the tape and stick glue. I buy the big glue sticks with the blue glue in them Dick heppnerguy

  44. Nice work, Les, As already stated, a smaller blade than a 7 would be easier to cut with but, you did an outstanding job. I just cut that pattern recently and stuck it in my wife's Christmas stocking. I painted the words candy apple red and left the border natural. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse

Still lot’s of clean up to do, but they must be working hard, cannot be done over night. How are you guys doing lot’s to do or are you back to some kind of normal. If you want to meet for coffee let’s set up a date and time and maybe this time you can drive to the Beach for different scenery. We wish you all the best. Pete.
