  2. Just put this one together......pleased the way it turned out....its 24"T x 23"W.....this is for a good friend of mine opening his new barber shop Jan. 2nd........he had to do a career change after suffering a heart attack in 2017....I wish him great success & I hope this sign welcomes his guests.....has the local HS logo & colors (Red & Black....Fulton Steamers)......the white crackle paint has a yellowish tint to it to make it look more aged I think......comments appreciated as always....ty & Merry Christmas!

    A few ornaments

These are just a few ornaments that I have made this year. The blue ones are patterns by Sue Mey, I made them for a Secret Santa and my letter was I, which meant that I had to come up with something starting with that letter. Not an easy task. Anyway these are Intricate and have Indigo backing. I know Indigo is slightly darker but this is my interpretation. I have forgotten what any of the wood were, some of the patterns came from Sue Mey, some from The Village Ornaments for Charity book. Hope you like them. Marg Forgot to mention that it is Glitter Paper on the blue ones.

    My ''go to'' plaque.

I was asked to make this for a friend, I love doing these name plaques. She seems quite pleased with it.

  11. When I saw this pattern posted, I reacted to it with, "I guess I will have to get on this one fast" and Sam replied that he would be waiting to see it cut. So I got it cut and finished last night. My wife really liked it and so did I Dick heppnerguy

    Amazing Grace

I used pattern SLDK459 from Sheila Landry's website and made a few adjustments. I increased the size to 110% and cut and past the patterns designed to go on multiple boards to apply to the single Ocooch oak plywood in the 16 in by 24 in size. This is now hanging in our church's Adult Bible Study classroom.

    I think this is Osage

Nope , this is Osage, a small town in north central Minnesota. (The picture that says, Eat here, get gas & worms). Population 150? We vacation on Straight Lake, just a stones throw from Osage. Name of the place is Osage Bait and Taclke. Good burgers and cold beer. Picture credit goes to Karl, who posted the picture 11/21 in Coffee House, under Signs. Sorry Jim, I couldn't resist.

Lovely, how do you paint them so nice ? Whenever I've tried painting it looks like an Irish man has done it after 3 pints of Guiness. and believe me I know, I married an Irish man.

  21. I ran out of room, and though I love my tools, had to destash the Hawk BM26 and Dw788. I tried to love the Hawk, it just wasn't happening for me, and definitely not suitable to my primary type of work. The Ex and King are my primary and I have the Hegner for making puzzle boxes and such. I could have saved you a ton on a Hawk BM26 I really have mixed feelings about Bushton the company, and there are more than a few things about the BM model that drove me nuts. Working with Bushton was a mixed experience for sure. There were design decisions that made me shake my head, and after I spent some time on the saw to get used to the mechanics, it still was not a great user experience for me. For me personally, there was no magic. For others, it seems this saw is nothing but awesome, but different strokes for different folks. Each saw has it's fans and it's critics, so I'm hoping your experience with it is great. Which laser did you get?

    Last Ornaments

I'm guessing these are the last three ornaments for the year. The name ornament is one my wife saw online made from metal and wanted me to try and duplicate. Not as hard to cut as it is to remove pattern and then sand, very delicate pieces hanging in there. I don't mind being fussy cutting without breaking, but then breaking trying to remove pattern or sand.

  24. Yeah Kevin, I don't know if the CNC will do what I'm hoping it will do. I know I have the pattern the way I won't it in (whatever software I have for the CNC). But there is only one way to find out, and if it doesn't work out then I will use it to make folks signs like I have been asked many times to do. Either way I'm going to find something for that CNC to do so it doesn't become a $1200.00 boat anchor in my garage.

  25. I finished the Christmas Bells that I am going to go hang on the door knobs some of my family members. The bottom two are Mahogany and the top three are BB, two sprayed with gold color paint and backed with felt. The other stained and painted. These were really fun. I will hopefully get started earlier next year and give to more people.

  26. A few Christmas gifts for family and friends made up from left over wood from my intarsia projects over the past couple of years. Amazing how one can loose the knack for word art and fret work. Patterns are basically Steve Goods but with modifications to all with Inkscape. Actually that was a good in understanding Inkscape better.

    It is Well . . .

Soon as I saw Kirk's aka Rabid Alien I had to cut it. I had the pattern printed in red for these tired old eyes. I used 1/2" Cedar cutting it with a #3 Pegas MG blade. Now that it is cut I don't know what to do with it. I'll glue it to a backer but have no idea how to make a frame. I'm thinking of just getting some door trim and staining it. Hopefully I can make an adequate miter cut.

    Dog portrait

Finished up this little guy the other day. I posted a request for a pattern of my boss’ dog and was lucky enough a nice person was able to make a pattern for me. I’m new to scrolling and hope to one day repay the favor to someone else. The frame was custom made by me as well. Thanks for looking.

  33. I used a pattern I'd gotten from Scroller Limited years ago. It was supposed to be mounted on rough cut wood, I had made some of projects of this type before and the rough wood is a dust magnet. I used 1/4" plywood for the background and used stencils to spray the snow and sky along with the clouds. The Santa and other things in the picture are cut from 1/8"BB plywood. I used diluted acrylic paint to stain the various parts of the picture. The frames are made from 1x2 pine, I cut a rabbit in the back for the plywood and a 1/8" groove to put glass in the front of the frame to keep dust out.

  36. LOL, I have had the 20" and the 26 in my shopping cart on and off contemplating what one to buy for 4-5 days now... Yeah the smaller 20" is more than enough for the projects I do.. and.. I do have the 226 Ultra.. My thought was really at some point I may have a need to just keep one saw if I keep buying other tools and filling my shop up.... The newest one and the one with the variable blade adjustment just made more sense to buy and keep if I were to sell off the others at some point.. and my thinking was.. I have the cash now.. and at some point I decide to let the other two Hawks go and buy another new one.. it will be easier to come up with the $200 less later than right now while I have the funds too... maybe.. LOL If.. I end up really liking the BM series.. it's very possible I'll sell my Ultra and the 220 and make another purchase for the 20" saw next year..

  38. I do a couple of shows each year so have made a lot of stuff. But this is what we do for family and close friends. We send special cards with a sentiment written by my wife. I print them on Photo frame cards. I cut 37 ornaments 1.5mm Finish plywood. Stack cut. Then mounted with removable sticky dots on the card. We have been doing this since 2005. It is one of those ideas that has gotten out of control but we love it. Unfortunately I have no pictures of the bigger items I made for sale such as a modified version of this Intarsia nativity the picture is last years.

  39. I just completed this Guitar Clock for a Christmas present for my son who plays and repairs guitars. The pattern is by Steve Good. The wood is a beautiful piece of 1/2 inch Persimmon that I purchased from Richard’s Craft Wood this fall at the Woodworking Extravaganza in Hickory NC.

  40. This is for my Grandson-in-law, who owns a barber shop in Paducah, KY. He just opened last year and the name on this is from his logo. The pattern is another one from Steve Good, which I added the name to. It is cut from 1/4" BB for the overlays and 1/2" BB for the backer, which is painted red. I got the movements from Bear Woods.
