Hi everybody. I just wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for being a part of Scroll Saw Village. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I'm continually amazed at what you folks come up with. It is truly inspiring. I hope 2019 brings you happiness and everything you hoped for...and maybe a little extra shop time, too. Happy Holidays, everybody.8 points

Just put this one together......pleased the way it turned out....its 24"T x 23"W.....this is for a good friend of mine opening his new barber shop Jan. 2nd........he had to do a career change after suffering a heart attack in 2017....I wish him great success & I hope this sign welcomes his guests.....has the local HS logo & colors (Red & Black....Fulton Steamers)......the white crackle paint has a yellowish tint to it to make it look more aged I think......comments appreciated as always....ty & Merry Christmas!3 points -

Well, the wife was out of town visiting a friend, and took the offspring with her to visit Grandma...so someone had to valiantly stay behind and make sure the dogs didn't get up to any shenanigans. And keep the saw from getting lonely. Finished up a Steve Good pattern (at least, I think its one of his) for my wife, not sure where we're going to stash it Tried an idea I had for some scrap 2x4's I picked up at Lowes (yay free scrap wood!!!). Trimmed off the rounded edge of one side, to give myself a smooth, flat face to work with, then set my table saw fence for 1.5" and was rewarded with two 1.5"x1.5" lengths. Perfect for compound cuts...such as the 3D chess set pattern I just bought from Sue Mey's site. Just wish she'd included a separate page of nothing but pawn patterns. Finally, a nifty little cutting (if I do say so myself) of a pattern I did the other day, because truly, Mondays suck. My wife may have squee'd a bit, she likes the little grumpy guy. We're off to grab dinner, I'll finish cleaning up the feathers and staining it later tonight, maybe tomorrow morning before yet another long drive to visit family 4 hours away so that nobody's feelings get hurt....yay. Seasons greetings and all that humbug.3 points -

Thank you for your nice comments! Last year 3 of us cut puzzles only and they were all gone by Christmas at the Toys for Tots store. At least the parents love giving them to the kids. This year I put on a scroll saw workshop for club members and got 6 of us cut puzzles and toy cars/trucks and doubled our donation. At least two members upgraded and bought a new scroll saw. More club members will be trained in 2019. Yes, we have fun. 40 members total with about 20+ active. We have scrollers, wood turners, furniture makers, and a canoe maker. Our club president currently teaches woodworking at the John Campbell Folk School near Murphy, NC We meet monthly and do shop tours of members, wood supply houses, shops of interest in the area and members conduct workshops/seminars in their specialty. Members are always called on to donate handmade items for neighborhood charities including the volunteer firemen, church lady gala, and garden club; these items are then auctioned off. bb1 point

Very much so! I'm an introvert, so getting "grounded" or "sent to my room" as a kid/teen was pretty much the opposite of the punishment that my parents thought it was. Thank you sir!1 point -

Bois de arc or wood of the bow. The plains Indians used it for making their bows. Yes the Osage orange name comes from that tribe.1 point

Merry Christmas Dan! Thanks! This is way better than what a sign shop would have to offer!! What an inviting sign to see!!!1 point -
I do a couple of shows each year so have made a lot of stuff. But this is what we do for family and close friends. We send special cards with a sentiment written by my wife. I print them on Photo frame cards. I cut 37 ornaments 1.5mm Finish plywood. Stack cut. Then mounted with removable sticky dots on the card. We have been doing this since 2005. It is one of those ideas that has gotten out of control but we love it. Unfortunately I have no pictures of the bigger items I made for sale such as a modified version of this Intarsia nativity the picture is last years.1 point

This is for my Grandson-in-law, who owns a barber shop in Paducah, KY. He just opened last year and the name on this is from his logo. The pattern is another one from Steve Good, which I added the name to. It is cut from 1/4" BB for the overlays and 1/2" BB for the backer, which is painted red. I got the movements from Bear Woods.1 point
