    An A. Fox cutting

With V-day on the horizon, I decided to try one of Alex Fox's patterns. I know from experience what looks good in a pic or video often looks different when I get done with it. 1/8" BB on the left is cut and stacked, on the right is some Sedona Red stain, and finished

  2. This Heart of Hearts is cut from the side of an old drawer box and as yet has no finish. It is about 15 x 15cm or 6 x 6 inches. Pattern is from Free Patterns Area Thanks for looking, Rob

  3. My wife is redecorating our spare bedroom and wanted these plaques for her wall. So I made her a couple. I cut them on 1/8 inch BB Ply and once again tried to make a couple of frames to put them in. I used a FD double tooth #5 blade to cut them. I did have the sense to double stack them so that helped both to cut them and to save me time. I have wanted to cut this pattern for about 3 or 4 year now so I am glad to finally get to them Dick heppnerguy

Sorry for the repetition but I thought this one came out really pretty with the wood combination. This one's for my son in law who's a Capt America fan.

    EX zero clearance hole

I was watching Adam's (Asunsell) video & decided to try & make one for my EX .Being a different saw this is how I went about it .Firstly I drew some pencil cross hairs on the table where the blade goes through .I then cut the piece of wood to go under the hole & fastened it by two small screws through two of the smaller holes that surround the the main blade entry hole,I had to grind the screw heads a bit to make sure they were flush with the table.I then poured a two part metal epoxy into the hole & when nearly set cut it off flush with the table with a razor blade,I then removed the screws & gave it a slight tap under the table with a piece of wood ,the wood came away with the new insert fixed to it.Then only a matter of re installing it & drilling a small hole for the blade .It won't be hard to replace it when it wears out & is a far better system than the playing card I had taped over the hole.Hope this makes sense

  9. Good Friend is retiring so I made a desk plaque and pen holder.. The wood is African Mahogany. That is not the same pen as I will give as the real pen is out to be engraved. Same kit and similar wood.

  10. Last week when helping my brother that owns the Sawmill find a new motor for his skid steer he mentioned that he was going to be sorting grade lumber this week and I need to come pick the scrap bins or the cutoffs go in the wood burning stove. So today before going to pick up my CNC I thought I’d see what he had. I saved quite a lot of cherry and a few pieces of Oak from being burned up. Should be able to put this to good use. Couple of the pieces I grabbed as scraps for the mistakes I’ll be making on my CNC trying to learn it.

  11. Most of these are 1-1/4 - 2 inch pieces.. so most of this will be resawn on my bandsaw since most everything I make is cut from 5/8 inch or thinner.. so doing that will just about double that stack.. should last me a good bit of time. BUT.. and this is a bigger reason I rarely get this free stuff from my brother... It's not been dried yet so all this lumber will be stacked / stickered up in my rafters for probably at least 6 months before i'll be able to use it.. That said.. I have about about 4 times this much free wood from him that's been setting in my other shop for about two years now.. so I'll probably be digging that out this spring and start making things with it..

    Hi all.

My profile says I registered here in 2015 but I haven't spent any time here and don't remember introducing myself. I have been active in a different Forum and friends there suggested I come here. From the looks of things I am glad I took their advice. I am heavily into Fret Work but do just about anything my wife tells me too. I currently have a EX21 and a Jet 22 (worst purchase I could have made in my opinion). The EX is my go to. I do make some patterns and my Favorite Designers are Charles Dearing and Mike Williams. I do most of my portraits on 3/4 inch wood I like the depth the wood gives to the project. Attached a few of my favorites. Hope to learn a lot from you all.

  13. You may remember that I posted a John Wayne last week that I made for my granddaughter to give to here father. After finishing it and getting it ready for mailing , I decided to make one for myself. So I did and I also decided to try and make one of those pesky frames for it.. I should stop pestering myself with the frames but I am determent to try and figure those out. Anyway here is the results Dick heppnerguy

My oldest daughter is a teacher and a Bigfoot fan. Since I'm on a coaster kick I thought I'd make this for her desk.

  15. A couple of weeks ago I posted a musical Treble Clef, I believe they are called and gave it to one of my neighbors as a gift because he is into music and has a group of men come to his house almost weekly to share their musical talents with one another. Well, he told me that he liked it so well that he wanted to buy two of the them to decorate his music room wall. He wanted one the same size as the one I gave him and one larger. He wanted them with the same backer board colorization that I made his first one. So, here is the end results of his request. Dick heppnerguy

  16. That my CNC Shark HD4 is ready to be picked up.. Yay!!! NOW, to figure out where it's going to be parked at in my shop.. Will have to buy / build a table for it.. Same issue with my laser that came in a few weeks back.. I only unboxed it and looked at it.. because I need a table and also needed to figure out what kind of coolant to run in it.. I have the coolant narrowed down to two types.. I guess both work so I just need to decide what one I want to use, LOL... Of coarse we've been in a warmer weather situation for the past few weeks and now that my new toys are coming it's supposed to start being colder than normal starting this weekend and run through the end of the month.. and my luck...probably February too.. Haven't heard anything from those folks in Bushton KS about my new Hawk.. When I log into my account.. it shows my order is awaiting fulfillment..

  19. Being from West Virginia, I am obviously a huge Mountaineer fan. So, a lot of things I cut have to do with that. Here are 2 new things that I just got done cutting. They still need poly, but finished otherwise.

  21. Well I made this for the shop walls. This is the first time I've ever used Doug fir for anything other than framing. I had some 4x4's 2 feet long left over from building my shop cabinets a few years ago. Glad I saved them and the frame turned out pretty good I think. I used redwood for the splines. About half way through this I had an "Ah ha!" moment where it clicked for me. Turns and pivots became easier and less stressful, blade choice improved and finally did a project without breaking it. A lot of you have cut this already but I enjoyed it. Oh and if you look carefully you'll still see some dust on the saw. I remembered to take the pic before I cleaned up. Ha ha.

  22. Last week I did the final cutting on one of the biggest scrolling project I have undertook. I still have the sanding, mounting and finish to do on that project, but I needed a break from it. At about the same time I read @Foxfold's post of a compound cutting video. I started watching it and decided to go check out the guy's site. ( JEPlans.com ). Compound cutting fascinates me because I am always surprised how you cut the pattern, take the block of wood apart and here is a neat little whatever it is you were hoping you would have. I look around the site and find a pattern for a pretty simple, but cute nutcracker, like for the ballet. When my daughter was little she danced in it a few years as she progressed through ballet classes. It was always fun to go watch her and all the little ballerinas. So I thought it would be fun to make for her and bring back some memories for her. This was really fun for me to make. All pieces are compound cut. His plans are very well done and he has a Youtube video on making this project. The plan give you a choice of 2 sizes to make. This is the bigger one, stands 7" tall. The plan was $3. So here he is in all his glory. Sorry I am not much of a painter, and boy I did not realize how shaky I am. I would like to do another some day, a little more detailed and bigger. The hair was the hardest part to cut, I could not believe it came out of that little block of wood when I was done.

  26. Hello rdatelle Your patterns do not give me rest)) Today at work I planted a dummy in front of a computer. So that the surveillance cameras would think that I was working, and I myself hid in the closet and made your air plant holders. Of course this is a joke. )) But in every joke there is some truth.

  37. Finished up a POW*MIA sign to replace a damaged one at a Facebook friend's VFW. Letters/star/filigree(?) and POW/tower are done out of 3/8" BBply. The backer is 1/2" rough ply scrap that I found at Lowes, a cutoff piece I got for free. It sanded smooth, so I'm happy. Frame is....pine? 2x2 I ripped in half(ish) lengthwise and probably took about 6' worth of wood to make. Frames always seem to surprise me with how much wood they consume. Also with how high my blood pressure gets when making those friggin things.
