Was excited the receive this award.. LOL and felt it's worth a little bragging rights.. It's certainly not easy selling online and especially on Etsy where there is 1.9 million sellers to compete with.. I had to crop most of the info out of this image due to privacy reasons so I just show the little banner from the message I got.. I owe a big Thank You to the Pattern designers... Also to this website and everyone here to this success as I couldn't have achieved this without you all..13 points

One to Butter Up The Boss

I saw a picture of this on Pinterest, and have spent several hours trying to find it's origin. I got a far back as a German site, about window template that bring about piece and harmony called rediscoversongs.com. I really had a hard time figuring what it was all about but it seems this was put up on a site by a person named Teresa Gibson. I do not know if she made the template or just posted it. Anyway, I made this using a picture of it. I did not have a real pattern. I think I am okay because I'm not going to sell this or the picture I got it from. I made it for a little Valentine present for my wife. She can hang it in the kitchen window.10 points -
Paint and Techique make a difference.
amazingkevin and 4 others reacted to Foxfold for a topic
Having done my own pattern I had to make adjustments to both the 'cogs' and the base to make the 'figure' fit and the napkins fit nice and I also folded them as @innar20 suggested. However I'm really pleased with the end result. As you can see from the 'before' and 'after' photos a little paint and some better technique makes such a difference.5 points -
Recently I saw celtic ornament and I thought that it could be interesting to make layered pattern of celtic ornaments. Here is my first try. I want to make more, I like to make ornaments with right geometric shapes (it is quite difficult), but I dont know would it be popular, what do you think? Birch plywood 3mm (about 1/8 inch), stain, glossy varnish. Pattern - https://www.etsy.com/shop/AlexFoxUA4 points

New sanding option
SCROLLSAW703 and 3 others reacted to orangeman for a topic
I have been using a 3 M fine sanding wheel in a Delta variable speed lathe to sand all my puzzle pieces. Lathe is set to 1750 rpm as it won't burn cherry at that rpm. Then I discovered I had a slow speed bench grinder which is 1725 rpm. Purchased from Woodcraft several years ago for under $100. So I ordered a 5/8" - 11 drill chuck and it fits perfectly on the grinder!!!!!! I tested it today with great results. I will now use the slow speed grinder for sanding puzzle pieces!!!!! And will put the Delta midi lathe up for sale. Was considering the Foredom variable speed sanding lathe but no need now. bb4 points -

Waluigi's Daydream - Stained glass & LED lights - 70+ hours and full build album
amazingkevin and one other reacted to fisch2481 for a topic
This was 70+ hours of planning, cutting, finishing and framing. Simply put, Waluigi is a bad form of Luigi (one of the Mario brothers). In this scene I created, Waluigi is having daydreams about destroying the Mario Brothers. I used a variety of hardwoods to pull this off. I did use a touch of paint to airbrush the eyes, the blue pants and the Green clothes for Luigi. The LED light is mounted behind the stained glass and it allows the user to control the color of the dreamscape. Let me know if you have any questions. In what is becoming standard practice for me, here is the build album https://imgur.com/gallery/8lPxDJ12 points -

Shop Heat On The Cheap
NC Scroller and one other reacted to Rolf for a topic
I have the MINI. the only difference between the MINI and the MIDI is 1.3 gallons of capacity and $50. Just don't expect it to replace your shop vac for cleanup. It has a small hose and is meant for dust extraction on your sanders etc. Not for big debris.2 points -

I always worry about CO when using non vented heaters. I had a propane bullet heater for my garage sold it after one or two uses Even with the garage door open about a foot I still got nasty headaches. Regarding dust collection, I have this on my Hawk, I used a couple of mag switches to hols the assembly to the saw. I did not glue the joints in case something got clogged. I did add a swivel and trap for those tiny pieces that get sucked up by accident. The swivel mages it easy to swing the top exhaust out of the way and back.2 points

US Probation Seal
amazingkevin reacted to Larry B for a topic
Hey Folks, Don't often post things I've made, I'm but kinda proud of how this baby turned out. My daughter is a US Federal Probation Officer in Iowa. I wanted to do something for her to celebrate her accomplishments. I saw a number of members on this forum posting military type plaques of various styles and that got my thought processes going. She showed me what her department seal looked like so I took all the tips and ideas gleaned here and came up with this representation. It is about 16 inches in diameter. The bottom layer is 1/2" Walnut, middle layer is 1/4" Sycamore and the top layer 3/16" Walnut. I milled all my own wood. I used Inkscape to come up with a cutting patterns. The color picture of the flag is a blowup of an image I found on a photo web site (royalty free). To help mitigate wood expansion the bottom layer Walnut is cut in an octagonal shape and then splines used to join it to a 1/2" plywood backer. The middle and top layers are loosely screwed to the layer beneath so hopefully there is enough room left for any movement of the wood. I used a FD UR #5 on the bottom layer, FD #3 on the middle layer and a FD #2/0 on the top layer. For all the veining I first cut the vein with a flat blade then came back and recut with a FD #2/0 spiral following the initial blade kerf. Finished with a Deft Satin Lacquer spray. I have 16 hours in cutting time on all the layers and probably another couple hours for assembly and finishing. Thanks for letting me share. Larry1 point -

I Think This Is Cool
SCROLLSAW703 reacted to Scrappile for a topic
If I have the space and extra bucks to burn, I think I would go get this one. Don't know why, I just think it is neat. I'm sure it only takes pin blades, look like it has a high speed and a low speed. https://spokane.craigslist.org/tls/d/clayton-40s-or-early-50s-vintage-walker/6783828981.html1 point -

Just remember open flame heaters (natural gas, LP gas, kerosene, wood, coal, etc) create moisture. It is a byproduct of combustion. So while you raised the temperature you also raised the humidity. This can effect wood movement, drying times, etc.1 point -

I hope that you will work to get a system set up on the saw in the near future. Dust collection is done best when done at the source. Box fan/filters may eventually get the dust but not before you can breath a lot of fine dust. A lot of fine dust will be hanging in the air.1 point -

First - Scroll Saw Challenge
nwoscroller220 reacted to MrsN for a topic
I started a master's degree program at the beginning of the year, which has cut into my scrolling time (on the plus side I can now tell you all about reading fluency) with the ridiculously cold temperatures in the mid west (warmed up to -18 today) I have gotten some extra days off of school/work and found some time to saw. I wanted something warm, so I googled beach silhouettes and found this. I painted the backer a goldish/bronze because my garage is too cold to do any staining. It is glued to the backer with elmer's glue all, it dries clear so any of the spots that you can see will become clear as it dries a bit more. It will get a coat of clear gloss when the temperature warms up, hopefully before June.1 point -

DIY piston blower
danny reacted to Dirtywoody for a topic
I recently bought a second-hand scroll saw (Clarke) for my first foray into this part of woodworking. Old but barely used. Of course the bladder for the blower was shot. I can get replacements from the UK but at nearly 4 pounds they're expensive for what they are and getting them to South Africa makes it out of the question. I saw that people use aquarium pumps but came up with another solution I haven't seen elsewhere. Maybe it's been tried of done before, I don't know. I attached a bolt to the saw arm going through the hole in the metal cover to which is bolted a tap washer going into a short piece of PVC pipe with a plastic bottle top and pipe attached. What can I saw? It moves plenty of air. I can't say about longevity yet, but it's cheap and uses stuff I had lying around. Here's a short (un)professional video (hope this works). If you want to know more just ask, I'm happy with it and it will do the job. And, no, it doesn't suck VID_20181220_190359.mp41 point -

First try at a compound cut.
danny reacted to scrollsawSQUIRELL for a topic
I had a bit of inspiration while reading a BASS magazine. Went to my scroll saw and drew out a pattern on a scrap piece of wood, cut it out. A lot of sanding was involved to get the shape somewhat ok. A rough prototype that I’m going to stay working on. Fishing is my passion and these would be nice little trinket gifts.1 point -
