  1. Saw the recent Hummingbird pattern by Alex Fox and the idea of a stacked design on coins appealed to me, so I bought the pattern and set out to cut the three layers. I used an Eisenhower for the top, flattened bronze Costa Rica coin for the middle, and flattened Kennedy for the back. As you can see, the scale is very very small, so the little bronze outline from the middle layers isn't hardly even visible. So, I was a success in that I got it cut, but not so much in the final result. I do like the top layer by itself though.

  2. Thanks to Granpa for the pattern. Cut from 1/8" BB one up, I didn't need more than one. Cut with #1 Pegas MG. I will not put a finish or frame on it. I have no room to hang it and know of no one who wants it so I will stack it up with everything else. It was fun to cut.

    Thanks to Fab4

A friend who's son is getting married in April contacted me and said HELP.....They need some letters for a large sign they are making that read MR & Mrs, etc. So after they told me what they wanted I contacted Paul and asked him if he could do some patterns for me and I explained what I wanted... Within 12 hours I had them in my hot little hand and my friend approved them. This is a very rough photo because they have to be painted and glued to the board. Unfortunately they are cut from MDF because that is what they wanted and what they brought with them. They have promised me a photo of the finished piece when they are done. Thanks again @Fab4 Paul, you are a gem. Marg

I cut this from 3/4 African Mahogany...finished with a 50/50 mix Blo and MS and some wipe on poly....I love the wood ,which was given to me by my brother in law ......The wood had been in storage for many years and is very hard.......I plan on doing several of these as gifts .... This one will be going to Fla. to the inlaws that gave me many board feet of the beautiful wood !.......Hope you like it , comments welcome, Steve.

Made this one for my good customer who said he would take all I could make for him. I used 4 mm Marine Ply for this one & I mainly used No 1 silver reverse blade but I did use a 3/0 new spiral for parts of the front wheel & the spring at the top of the folks. Cheers Peter

  8. I saw a picture of this on Pinterest, and have spent several hours trying to find it's origin. I got a far back as a German site, about window template that bring about piece and harmony called rediscoversongs.com. I really had a hard time figuring what it was all about but it seems this was put up on a site by a person named Teresa Gibson. I do not know if she made the template or just posted it. Anyway, I made this using a picture of it. I did not have a real pattern. I think I am okay because I'm not going to sell this or the picture I got it from. I made it for a little Valentine present for my wife. She can hang it in the kitchen window.

  11. More wrong than right Kevin. But when all said and done if you and everyone else look back to my comments and you will read if the chuck jaws are hitting the wood the bit is either too short or is slipping. This is as common sense as there can be when using a drill press no matter what one you have. Said it about 3 times and even made a joke with it. Ray contradicted you when you mentioned it and that is when I suggested the travel thing. Go back and read from the beginning and take in your post too and see what he said to you. Then we have all the people setting up experiments like a lab or something. The most basic question gets blown to smithereens and again I stand behind every word I said and advise I gave here. I do not mind being wrong and being brought to my attention but if people are too lazy to read then I have no control over that. I know what I am doing in my shop and know how to use every tool in my shop.

  14. Have posted this one is Bragging Rights before I saw the new challenge. Another Aniki Lykke Sorenson pattern. Just love the way she captured the interest in the cat's eyes and had to cut it. Jeff

  15. Was excited the receive this award.. LOL and felt it's worth a little bragging rights.. It's certainly not easy selling online and especially on Etsy where there is 1.9 million sellers to compete with.. I had to crop most of the info out of this image due to privacy reasons so I just show the little banner from the message I got.. I owe a big Thank You to the Pattern designers... Also to this website and everyone here to this success as I couldn't have achieved this without you all..

  16. Here’s what I created. I found a hummingbird in the free clip art and I used Brenda’s cog. My base could be a bit bigger I think for more support. Still need to do more sanding and will paint it at some point

  17. Had this one downloaded/printed for a while, got it finished up today, just in time to give to TheBoss for Valentine's Day. Red is just water and food coloring, backer is metallic silver rattlecan. I like how this one turned out.

  19. There you go Ray Dan did a good job with the photos. The same drill press. Like I said my 12 and 16 both have that locking system and works great. Just got out of the shop and used it 3 times for 3 different projects. If I had to keep lowering and raising the table it would drive me crazy. But I have to do that at times too. The ring between the handle and the drill press with that little flip lever is what I am talking about. Thanks Dan saves me from finding a link or taking camera out.

  20. Back in the day, I used a lot of aviation bits. They were longer than usual. Because they were cheap, we would ground them down to fit the job. Check it out. https://www.maxwarehouse.com/products/irwin-aircraft-drill-bit-hss-1-16-6-length-carded?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=ACE-23698&msclkid=aa99927428e512321cdfce2304a2d24e

  32. Maybe, just maybe the problem is that the drill bit is flexing while drilling so that the bit is not 90 degrees in the hole, which would mean that the length of the bit isn't enough with the additional angle. So, with that said: What material are you drilling through? I was drilling pine, near a knot, with a small bit and it would not drill straight, the drill ibt would curve away from the hard knot. What type of drill bit are you using, i.e. HSS, carbon steel, alloy, titanium oxide coated, etc? Cobalt drill bits are the stiffest I've found. What speed are you using, when I use small bits I crank the speed up to max.

    Circus

Well I decided to give Steve Goods circus pattern a try. All made out of 1/8 B/B ply. 90 % of this was made from scrap ply that I had left over from a lot of my portraits and other stuff. I did add a couple more horses to kinda of balance it out. It is pretty long, maybe almost 4 feet. Not sure where I will put it. Already have a few offers for it but I have no idea what I would have to charge and I'm not sure if I want to make another one. Took about four days on and off. The glue and activator he recommended really helped with this project.

  34. I had an old Mark II or something like that, Harbor Freight drill press that had that type of locking ring on it. I love it also, worked great and very easy to set. Unfortunately my Jet I replaced it with has the type where you screw the two nuts up and down to set the depth. Some genius engineer developed that setup, that probably never used a drill press in his/her life!! Just saying......

    Scrolling books on disc

Most of the scroll saw books are published by Fox Chapel here in the U.S. it is illegal what he is trying to sell!

  39. Apparently if I'm not the person to hold the copyright I can do nothing. I would have to contact whoever wrote the books and tell them

  40. And he is only charging $14 and change (USD) and that includes shipping. Most of those books cost more then $14.

  47. I use the bits with a hex end for small bits in my drill press. The smaller bits tend to slip in the chuck. My drill press handles up to 5/8" bits and does not handle small bits well.
