  2. Got my new Delta yesterday, got it all set up and running today. So far I'm liking it a lot. Will take a little to get used to getting the blade in the lower clamp. My Craftsman had a big insert that made seeing it a lot easier. Took a little getting the routine down of refeeding the blade for fretwork but after about a half dozen holes it was getting easy. Out with the old (at least to the garage to use it there) and in with the new.

    mixed bag

Mixed bag of cuts, Patterns are as follows, Mermaid is by DDScrollsaDD design from years ago, Amazing grace is by Bobby Riggs, Fish fear me by Janevski, rhino is by Gayle at Scroller's Cafe and Chubby Unicorn is from a t shirt I saw. The Rhino and Chubby unicorn are going to a girl who works at the San Diego Animal park who is working on trying to create more Northern white rhino's by creating an egg to be fertilized since there are only male rhino's left. I donated both to her for the work she is doing. The rest were just fun cuts. Thanks again to all the designers you folks really help me have fun. jim

    Beach Scene

With winter dragging on, I needed to do a beach scene to remind me of warmer weather. 1/8" BBPW on 1/4" backer. Finish, shellac and lacquer. Back to aircraft, a B-25. Need to get it done before my cataract surgery in a few weeks.

    FJ Holden

My customer wanted a cutting of an Australian FJ Holden & as Australian patterns are a bit scarce I had to make my own pattern off a photo .I hope it turned out o.k. I wanted most of the veining to be a bit thicker so after cutting with a No1 flat blade I went over the cuts again with a spiral blade & found the spiral followed the original cut very well . I guess it takes the path of least resistance & so follows the cut near perfectly. Cheers Peter

  7. I agree that communication would go a long way toward maintaining good customer relations. Set a production schedule and stick to it. That should be the least they can do. Long lead times don't necessarily have to be a problem. Not meeting expectations is certainly a big problem. Set realistic expectations, right from the start and have truthful and responsible answers ready, if the lead time extends beyond what was quoted. I work in production scheduling and planning, so I'm quite familiar with the concepts. If you run your business like a hobby, it's always going to take a back seat to your other interests. That isn't fair to your customers and not a good model for long term success.

  9. Well that would have me calling the credit card company to cancel the charge for lack of fulfillment. I just can not see charging the card if it does not ship within 30 days which as I understand it is the standard. I do know that some CC companies do not allow a vendor to charge the card until the item ships. I would not want that price adding to interest charges on the card either.

  11. This is my first project of the new year.....I did it because I had been reading about segmentation scrolling for a while. After doing a few smaller pieces to work out the bugs, i tackled this piece. I was very pleased with the result, and have gone on to do several other animals since then, including, wolves, lions, bears, horses, and a couple more. I intend to sell them at fairs and festivals this summer.

  12. I would think by now they have a handle on how many they sell a year with a certain tolerance. I also think there is periods during the year that sales are more robust than others so they should know how to work around this. You have a product to sell and if there is long time delays in getting that product out then get out of the business because you will be run over. Its not like they are changing models anytime soon so that model will be around for many more years to come. Keeping in contact with the client makes good business sense. Word of mouth and the many forums out there can mean $$$ one way or other. I give them no pass at all.

  13. Unless someone has actually operated a small business they rarely understand the economics of a small business. I see the new Jeeps, SUVs and other new cars on our street. I will bet anything a lot of them are either leased or on 5 and 7 year payment plans. Appearance means nothing.

  14. It’s real difficult to “really” know what a business is wealthy or not. A lot of people talked about my brothers lumber mill when one of his buildings burned down. The news reported that the business did 2 million in revenue a year. People thought my brother was a rich guy in disguise,. Yeah he runs 2 million in revenue through the business but most of that goes right through his hands and into expenses to keep the place running. Same deal with my crafts I sell, family and friends hear how much I did in sales and they think I’m making bank, but after expenses I’m actually almost making minimum wage earnings with two times the hours lol.

  15. I wonder how many saws they actually sell a year... I'm betting it's not too many.. and as Les said.. they'd need pretty deep pockets to have several saws made up in advance.. that may not even sell.. sitting on inventory for a long time is hard to do.. I'm not in any hurry for the saw.. and I do understand their situation.. My biggest issue with it is the communication.. nobody has reached out to me on the fact it's been 8 weeks and probably will be another 3-4 weeks.. and no one has said a word to me.. They have my phone number.. and email.. I'm totally okay with the length of time that it's taking.. but a update or a projected time frame would be nice.. Now that I know a machine is broke.. and it's probably going to be another 3 weeks.. I have some sort of answer.. placing an order 8 weeks ago and not hearing anything at all is just unacceptable to me.. Me having to call them to find out where the heck my saw or my money is.. that just makes a customer feel as though they could care less about them..

    bench Cookie

I use mine for round overs and such with a small router and some for sanding. They work good and hold the piece well. I wouldn't use them for finishing, once the pads get coated they won't hold the piece anymore with out movement.

    Did this one for Dad.

I did this one for my dad. He always liked this saying. The M is done in cedar. It was the only wood I had that thin. He really likes it. I hung it on his living room wall yesterday. I counted 209 cuts

    Set of coasters

I made this set of coasters as a gift for someone I went to high school with who now lives in Washington state. Long way from Alabama. She didn't like the idea of them being free so she's crocheting me a toboggan. Much cooler than money!

  24. A lot of these reasons is exactly why I bought the Hawk in the first place.. and.. why I haven't canceled out my order.. I've run a few different business's and many times the struggle is real... I do wish they could communicate a little better than they do.. but.. that said.. they are always there to answer the phone with any questions one has.. not something you typically get with Excalibur or most any other brands. Typically calling Dewalt you'll get a recording to press 1 for English or... you get the idea there.. When you call Bushton you get a person.. and that person is part owner.. I might have a bigger attitude about this if I was in dire need of the saw.. I primarily went with a Hawk because they are small business... They do make a great saw... They are made in the USA.. while not very part is USA but they are a USA company trying to make it in this tough world.. I have the New Excalibur and with the price of the Hawk.. I could have bought 2 more of those.. But I was also trying to do my small part to make America Great Again, LOL... Now... it's up to Hawk to do their part and deliver on a awesome saw that'll put a smile on my face... We'll see how it all pans out in the end.. When I talked to Nicole.. the she said they was all pulling their hair out just trying to deliver on a " precision" scroll saw that the customers have ordered..They have the parts that they could have used and sent out the saw.. but they are .003 off and caused the saw to vibrate a little more than it should.. they decided to hold off sending them out to deliver a quality saw.. At least it seems like they are not trying to push off a less than perfect saw.. Those other companies would probably saw send them out.. they work.. and we'll deal with it later as we need our production numbers for our bonus, LOL Just my .02 and why I decided to wait yet another 3 weeks or so and see where that lands me..

  26. Just my opinion... I advocate for patience and forgiveness in dealing with other people because everyone makes mistakes and every machine breaks. I don't always succeed, but I think it's worth trying. Unless it's a life or death situation, what is really gained be having a negative attitude toward a mom & pop company that is obviously trying to put their cnc machine back together? Cut them some slack folks. They are trying to do something in the US which we all ought to value. Again, just my opinion. The two greatest needs that I see lacking in today's world are those two virtues. Imagine what kind of world it would be if everyone could just slow down, take more time, be patient, and be forgiving? I know my commute to work would be more pleasant, that's for sure. I for one wouldn't mind buying a Hawk some day. I like that the PS Wood Machines are made in the USA too. And if I save up enough to buy one I will. A few years ago I met a man who was 75 years old and still making a small machine that our company could have used. In spite of a good demo and traveling hundreds of miles to bring a machine to our plant, the bosses shot him down because he was "too small" and "too old". This guy bent over backward to accommodate us, but they rejected his machine. I was very sad about this and wished him well as he packed his van for the ride home. I have never forgotten the look on his face as he was leaving. I had the feeling that his livelihood depended on making this one sale. I wish I could have helped him, but my hands were tied and I didn't control the purse strings. Anyway, I talked to him on and off after that, but we lost touch when I changed jobs. I thought about him and how many other people there are that are like him, trying to keep American manufacturing alive. There all small businesses everywhere that can use our support. And when they mess up or have production problems, I just think we ought to cut them some slack. That's all. Have a good day.

    Basket #3 C-12

Another Alex Fox pattern. I increased the pattern by 25% to fit 10" square stock of 1/4" Mahogany. I used FD UR #1 blades. After cutting, I placed the rings inside the outer square and sanded with an RO sander. This made sanding a breeze. Finished with spray Polyurethane Clear Satin. Comments welcome.

Thanks Dave. Not sure about stack cutting. In some areas it is less than 1/8". As for glue up, I use a drop of glue at the points of contact. There still is a small amount of squeeze out which I clean up before it dries.

  35. I don’t think I would wait this long, and then they say we hit another problem will be another 4 weeks or more, and that they don’t even bother to contact you, but probably the reason they didn’t contact you is they were afraid you would cancel your order and the might have spent your money already, just my opinion, RJ

  36. Yeah, I agree.. not many people pay for stuff before they bring it home.. Shopping 12 years ago for the last car I bought. the dealer kept taking about the car only being $250 a month.. I asked how much the car was.. I don't honestly think he knew the price.. he had to get a manager to give me the actual cash price for the car.. That there tells you not many people actually buy their cars..

I made this out of Padauk, maple, oak, wenge and ebony. I have more information in this build album. If you are interested in winning this, follow me on my Instagram at Fischstickswoodwork. I have not used them but based on my experience with these Kreg bench dogs https://www.kregtool.com/store/c34/clamping-accessories/p73/bench-dogs/?source=1781 I set my large sanding projects on these and my project never moves. I would think that the cookies would work very well. Both surfaces need to be clean and dust free so that they don't slide around. When routing I am still more comfortable with a clamp. They probably aren't bad with a cold glass of milk either

  48. Yes the credit card is charged immediately when you order online, I assume the same way when you call the order in.. My opinion is they should say something about a timeline on the web page about whether the saws are in stock or back ordered etc.. but they have a pretty poor website.. They have items on there that have been saying " Pictures coming soon " for the 2-3 years I've been dealing with them.. LOL
