  1. Have made plenty of these names Plaques in the past , but a special order this time - since retirement have had so much more business and my wife has stepped up her game in the pattern making and hand painting part of of my Hobby/Business . A coworker ordered this name Plaque for his wife - but with a twist , roses and and the vine attached. Well my wife spent more time making the pattern and hand painting than I did cutting it and mounting/ glueing the base on . The Customer was delighted with the outcome .....

  2. Received my new saw today from D&D. Didn't even have to make any adjustments to it. Run great straight out of the box. I am totally impressed with it. Time will tell.

    Testing the new saw

Saw did pretty well....ran into an issue today, just before I got to the finish, where it was losing blade tension whenever I tried to cut. Disassembled and reassembled the saw, and whatever the issue was cleared up. Still have no idea what was wrong. But it finished the cut, so I'm happy.

    Music sign

Steve Good had a great pattern for Music - Piano that I really liked for my Granddaughter as she is really into music. She does take piano lessons but singing is her thing. Wanted to personalize so I came up with the attached. It is not finished as I will let her decide the colours then either she or Gramma will paint. Got to love Steve.

  6. This is a clock like I made for my wife about 4 years ago and my grandson's fiancé told me that since they have been living in their own houses for a few years and have everything they need, they are not asking for wedding gifts, However, she did mention to my grandson that she would like one of Grandpa's clocks. ( This is the one she was talking about ) so I made them one. I have been working on it for about a month, due to all the company we have had and finally finished it yesterday, as everyone has left for about 10 days. I have two bells coming for the bell tower and then I will be completely finished. It has several coats of finish on it and in May we will be taking it to Oregon for the wedding. This is the most challenging piece I have ever made, along with the Eiffel Tower I made a few months back. Dick heppnerguy

    Kookaburra

I have been looking for some Australian content in scroll saw patterns so when I found this one in the pattern library I jumped on it & thanks to Patch for the pattern,I made the backer a little larger to give it a framing effect.

  9. I made so many errors I pretty much gave up on the project and just rushed it finished... It looks pretty good from 5 feet away... Shouldn't look too bad hanging on the wall as long as nobody gets too close to it... At least you can tell what it is... I used Walnut, Brazillian Cherry, Basswood, Sycamore, African Mahogany, Wenge and Western Red Cedar... Pattern by Bruce Worthington at intarsia.net...

  10. Found this video on YouTube. I follow this guy as he does everything by hand. Modern day wood wright type of guy. Here he restores an old pedal driven scroll saw. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. https://youtu.be/FflO50fTr1I

  16. Always a good day when the new tools arrive.. Glad you like it so far.. Hopefully it'll be a great and enjoyable saw to use for you.. That style saw in my opinion is the only one to have for someone that does angle / bevel cuts.. they are awesome to work with doing those cuts with the table staying flat.. Hopefully Iggy (Scott) will have the same experience with his saw when it arrives..

    3D Chess

My original Craftsman jointer was a benchtop model similar is size to that one. Probably called a 6 in. but it was the length of the table, not the width, that was a problem for me. Any board longer than 10 or 12 inches would hang over the end and I could never get an edge that wasn't bowed. I got it when Craftsman was still sold exclusively at Sears retail stores, and it also came with damaged knives, like someone had run a board through with a nail in it. In taking the knives out, I stripped a couple of hex bolts. They were so tight that I had to use a pipe on the hex wrench to break them loose. Sears replaced the knives, but refused to give me bolts; they said I stripped the heads, it was my error. I think they were 5¢ each. Anyway, the Powermatic solved all those problems, and has the helical heads which give an incredibly smooth edge. I use it mostly for edges, but will occasionally use it as a surface planer if I have a board that is cupped slightly. I can get one side flat and then run it through the Dewalt planer.

  20. I have only ordered from BW once. It took a couple of weeks to get part of my order because of backorder situation. The did finally ship the remainder but all in all, I think it was pretty close to a month to get it completed. I'll not be ordering from them again unless they have something that nobody else has. JMHO.

    Baskets

Thanks John. You replied just in time. I did the second cut at 3 degrees and it has improved the drop. Bob

    Baskets

If you want more drop you want less of an angle not more. Instead of 4 try 3. When doing those spiral baskets you do get tired in both your hands and also the eyes because they go in circles for some time. Just need to lessen your grip and back off your pushing. Helps if using good sharp blades too. Good luck. I made hundreds of those type spiral baskets over the years. I found a #7 blade at 3 degrees worked well for me and I always used hardwoods such as oak, walnut and mahogany and maple.

    BB sourch that you like

Floor underlayment is typically Luan, I just bought a square of it to demonstrate Pyrography. I would only use it as a backer on certain projects. The 1.5mm (1/16) 50" x 50" for $44.70 that equals $2.50 a sq ft. I use that for my 4" x 4" ornaments (30 cents). I sell the ornaments for $10-$12 The 3mm (1/8) is only $15 for the same size sheet. $.60 a sq ft. That is used for larger fretwork projects. It is good one side but I rarely find any football patches on the back. I also pre-sand all of my ply to 320. The 2 x 2 x 1/8 Luan that I bought from Lowes cost me over $4 so not so cheap.

  30. Where was my call to come and help. I would make the 80 minute drive to help for a share. I just got over 800 2' pieces cedar for free to use in the woodworking club's kids birdhouse day. That's enough cedar to last 3 years. We usually get around 50 kids a year and so far we have 40 signed up for this year.

  37. Well temps up to mid 30's and this is the first cutting I've done in a while.. in part, due to feeling blah from a sinus infection.. and another part.. I've been reworking my kitchen cabinets and doing some work inside the house.. I started out with the intention of video the whole cutting.. but.. my phone don't like the cold.. and died doing the first part of this cutting.. so then plug my phone in and then I ran out of storage memory on my phone.. LOL.. time to delete a lot of stuff I suppose.. Not sure you'll be able to get this since the upload in on Facebook on my business page.. you can find that searching FB for KevsKrafts... Maybe the link will work. Probably isn't going to be viewable to those that do not have Facebook.. Cutting is done on my Hawk 226VS Ultra Edit to say: I turn off my overhead light partway through the first part of cutting due to the light interfering with the camera..
