    I had ro cut this!

I cut a lot of crosses for craft shows and when I seen this one it had to cut! I cut it from 1/4 inch poplar and the "frame" is 1/4 inch MDF. I want to thank Travis Cook for the pattern and it is definitely different! Erv

  2. I found these in the Spring, 2018 Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Magazine. The article was entitled "Heart Shaped Boxes" but there was also the pattern for the "guitar pick" shaped box and an oval box in the pullout section. I have not made an oval one yet. There are several guitar players in my family so I thought they would make nice gifts for them to store picks in. One has been given to my husband. The other two will probably be given to my niece and nephew who play probably for Christmas. (I don't know that I have had anything ready for Christmas this early before! ) The one I gave my husband is made of walnut in the middle and the top and the bottom are from over 100 year old oak. The walnut was from trees from the yard of the house he grew up in and was weathered in an old barn they had for years. The oak came from that old barn wood its self. He had taken the walnut several years ago and made some things with it. This was some scrap pieces. We tore the barn down last year. The other two pieces are maple on the top and butternut in the middle.

    More Tissue boxes

G'day all, The 1st 4 of a new batch of tissue boxes. These I finished with the Automotive clear. I don't think I have posted these particular patterns before, if so I apologise. I have included 2 face on shots as they show the pattern clearly, take with my phone. I'm a bit of a novice taking photos with a phone (They should not be able to do that)" The individual ones I used my camera. I forgot to tell the timbers. The white is Radiata Pine and the red is Marri. It's a bastard for splinters but the look makes it worthwhile. http://www.fpc.wa.gov.au/about-us/publications/species/marri Cheers

  4. In today's society you might sometimes feel this way as you get older. I cut this humorous sign from plain ol' pine and used the off cut for the base. Makes and interesting falling-apart base. You can pick up the free pattern on my FREE PATTERN page.

    Thanks Fab4

A couple of months ago a friend rang me up and told me that her son was getting married and that the future bride had something in mind to go on the barn door of the reception but could not find the exact thing she was looking for. She mentioned what it was and my friend said, oh Marg can do that. So they came around and bought the wheel with them. we discussed a few thing and when we had what we wanted I contacted Paul (Fab4) and he did the pattern for me. Well the big day was Saturday so on Sunday she sent me this photo of 'our' work. Thanks Paul for your help once again. Marg

    Love The Myth

Well April 9th is declared Unicorn day, so it is only fitting that we have a sign for it. This bold sign was cut from Sapele and mounted on an improvised base cut from the left over wood. Hope you enjoy it. Might make some little kid very happy. You can download the free pattern from my FREE PATTERN page.

  9. I thought I'd get a new banner for 2019. 2.5' x 8' for the back of my tent. I wanted to emphasize the fact that no computers, lasers, etc are used. Even though I have INDIVIDUALLY HAND CUT on my banners, it didn't really click. What do you think? Old banner with Elephant on it, new banner with Dragon on it.

  10. As you may or may not know, from some of my previous posts, I have a grandson who is a captain in the Army Special Forces. I ran across this pattern on Sue Mey's site and just had to buy it and make it for him. It is made from BB Ply and it approx. 11 inches. I know he will like it and I will be able to give it to him personally because I will be seeing him at the wedding we are going to in Portland, at the end of May. Dick heppnerguy

Only after I had acquired about 100 of Harvey's patterns... til I scanned them all I was flipping through a giant stack every time I needed a specific breed of of dog. LOL

  12. My thoughts is people do not read so no matter what you put on there. They do not understand the differences. I have hand made signs on my shows too and still get asked if cut with a laser or overhear conversations where people say that it is. Do not sweat that stuff keep doing what you are doing. It will not mean any more sales.

I thought about snapping a new photo with the new saw... but this one works well and amazingly when I hold an actual blade up to the banner to show folks where it goes, it's probably darn near 100% life size. I didn't want to screw with it. LOL

    New Dewalt.

I got my new DeWalt scroll saw all set up and it works like a top... I surely waited too long for the upgrade... I cut parts of my Dragon Intarsia with it and I can’t believe how smooth and quiet it is...

  15. Been wanting to hook up a dust collection separator for some time. Either a Dust Deputy or a Duststopper, are the ones I know about. After watching a couple YouTube videos comparing the two, they compared so close that I went for the cheaper, the Duststopper from Home Depot. The reason I wanted one is the bags and filters for the Fein Dust extractor can get expensive quick. The do last a long time if I just use it on my scroll saws, but if I vacuum the floors with it, they fill up quicker. Anyway. I went to HD and got a Duststopper and a bucket. I also got the flexible rubber 90° connector and the rubber sleeved nipple for the two connections I needed. The Duststopper (DS) comes with a 36" hose and one 90° fitting. I wish it came with two. To purchase a second on to fit the vacuum system was around $15 with the shipping. PVC fittings did not fit. Any way this it the messy way it is temporarily set up. One of these days I will find a shorter hose that will hook into my Fein and go to the dust collection on the saws. When I first used it with the HD bucket, It started collapsing the bucket! I solved this problem by removing the 3/4" modular loc-line nozzles on the bottom dust collection so in effect it became 1". I also switch to a Behr Paint bucket I had because it is a heavier bucket. This system, although ugly, works great! For some reason it even reduces the suction noise down to where I can hear the Fein running also.

Nice, but I might argue about the computer - you do use it to store and print the patterns from.

  20. Thank you Paul and Kevin for your kind words. Paul, the dowel is glued into the bottom and then the friction/tightness of it in the top holds it quite well. I have seen some similar where some people used some tiny magnets in them however.

  21. No I didn't I just glued them up and then also used screws.. I'll be packing them up maybe tomorrow and sending them on their way... they got a long way to go since they're headed to a wedding shop in Hong Kong of all places.. Not cheap shipping but they was willing to pay sooo.. LOL

  25. I found the second error in Steve's patterns, it was the B on Bless this mess, it did not have any breaks in it for cutting out. I haven't found the first error yet. I cut the Take tine to smile and it came out great. grizz

  26. Very nice. I should do one for my son. Is there something holding them shut? Or is the friction of the little dowel enough?

Yes, it definately is... I've been a diehard fan since I was 7... I'm from a small town called Knox in Clarion County off I-80 in North Central PA... My entire mancave is decorated in Steeler colors and memorabilia although some of it is being taken over by intarsia projects... lol I'm also a Pirates and Penquins fan... My wife has been converted to all three as well although she is from New York...

    New Dewalt.

You will learn to love it. Two things you might want to add is the sonaldo ( cuts clean up and dust) attached to an old shop vac and the lifter to keep the arm up while loading. Minor but will make the great saw even better.

  45. I've seen that stuff when I was looking for a dry lube for my Hawk saw lubrication.. they recommend a dry lube but that is all they say.. so I never knew what exactly to use.. I found a similar product but made by P.B. I think my next trip to town I'll get a can of this since my other can is about gone.. I ended up liking the stuff so well I use it on about everything from door hinges, brake cables on bicycles to windows as you say.. LOL Amazing how much the stuff works.. I went through most of the can in one day, LOL

  46. ... for 2 weeks... Taking a 2 week break after cutting the 21 currently on my drying rack. I have 125 unique puzzles for display and 575 duplicates ready for a total of 700 puzzles to start the season off in two weeks. I have 3 big events back to back and I feel good about my stockpile. Goal is to not have to cut much in between events. If the weather cooperates this year my goal is to sell 1,400. Last year was crazy with double our normal annual rainfall and hurricane Florence hitting us head on. Time to relax before hitting approximately 30 events thru the end of the year. Iggy

  49. Woodsmith did this and I have seen similar variations. Have a portable vac and the attachments, don't have a cart or cyclone. A grocery store went out of business and we got a grocery cart that I load and unload to take the vac out to the car. 'live in apartment'. Been looking at this hose and the orange one in the comparison below. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000AV78B/ref=psdc_13397451_t3_B00FX34QEU RJF

  50. Thanks Paul. I was not aware of this H/D offering. I want to put a small system outside of my shop for when I set up outside. I have a Fein/Dustdeputy inside and a big Ridgid 16 gallon for outside and have been thinking about building a cyclone system. This will solve my problem.
