    Shaggy Dog Portrait

Thanks so much to Paul aka @grampa for the fantastic pattern. This was left unframed at the customer's request. Cut with a Flying Dutchman No3 from 4mm marine ply (Baltic Birch is not available here in NZ) with 3mm painted MDF backer. Thanks for looking. Rob

  2. I made this welcome sign for my mother recently. I made her a fall one and she hinted about needing one for spring. I found an image on the internet that I used to draw the bird and branch, then added the words below. I did put it on a backer, but couldn't find that photo. Mom loved it, and what could be better than that.

    3D Teddy Bear

My new pattern - Teddy Bear. I like such projects, it is easy to cut and interesting assembling (I used dowels, but it can be assembled by gluing) size - 9,5 x 5,5 x 5,5 inches

    21st Keys

Not sure if people still have big twenty first birthday parties and get presented with keys. The 1st one I made for my daughter, before I new about purchasing small photo frames. It opens for signatures. The second for my Cousin's Son (She placed photos in it before presenting it on the night I think Christine's is pine and merranti and the other is pine and jarrah with his name in Sandalwood.

    Love The Myth

Well April 9th is declared Unicorn day, so it is only fitting that we have a sign for it. This bold sign was cut from Sapele and mounted on an improvised base cut from the left over wood. Hope you enjoy it. Might make some little kid very happy. You can download the free pattern from my FREE PATTERN page.

    Real Wood Crafts

Just want to give kudos to Albert Baggetta of Real Wood Crafts. I had ordered a pattern from him yesterday. For some reason an error appeared and the pattern could not be downloaded. This morning I received an apology along with the pattern I ordered plus another pattern. Can't find better response anywhere. He really should be listed in the pattern suppliers list.

  9. I thought I'd get a new banner for 2019. 2.5' x 8' for the back of my tent. I wanted to emphasize the fact that no computers, lasers, etc are used. Even though I have INDIVIDUALLY HAND CUT on my banners, it didn't really click. What do you think? Old banner with Elephant on it, new banner with Dragon on it.

  10. I found these in the Spring, 2018 Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Magazine. The article was entitled "Heart Shaped Boxes" but there was also the pattern for the "guitar pick" shaped box and an oval box in the pullout section. I have not made an oval one yet. There are several guitar players in my family so I thought they would make nice gifts for them to store picks in. One has been given to my husband. The other two will probably be given to my niece and nephew who play probably for Christmas. (I don't know that I have had anything ready for Christmas this early before! ) The one I gave my husband is made of walnut in the middle and the top and the bottom are from over 100 year old oak. The walnut was from trees from the yard of the house he grew up in and was weathered in an old barn they had for years. The oak came from that old barn wood its self. He had taken the walnut several years ago and made some things with it. This was some scrap pieces. We tore the barn down last year. The other two pieces are maple on the top and butternut in the middle.

  11. There are battles and there are battles and the fireman fights one of the most vicious battles and has saved countless lives again and again. They are the heroes fighting the blaze. Here's a sign honoring this perilous duty. I cut mine from maple and set it on an improvised base from the scrap of the blank. Download free pattern from my FREE PATTERN page, if you would like to cut this.

    Baltic Birch Ply

Have not see this personally, but, for one, Cherokee Wood Products has it in 1/2" and 3/4" 4'x8' or 5'x5' sheets https://www.cherokeewood.com/store/baltic-birch-plywood-sheets/

    Baltic Birch Ply

I've never seen " real " Baltic Birch ply at the big box stores.. I know people claim they have it and maybe they do.. my local Lowes and like stores do not have it.. and many times people confuse BB plywood with regular plywood... and I'm betting that's what you have.. Even the specialty lumber store I get my BB ply from... depending on the worker pulling the stock for me, they many times get it confused with plain old plywood even though the order says BB ply and also says the oddball size.. because the real deal to my knowledge only comes in 5 x 5 foot squares.. Not 4 x ? which when you say 2 x 4.. that 4 ques me in that you have just birch plywood.. and not the real deal..

See, those Aussies and there ways. This is a great tradition I had not heard of before. I agree in America they go drink. My granddaughter sent us a picture of her having "her first drink" when she turned 21. I said ya, right, aren't you the granddaughter that bragged to me once that she had 5 different fake IDs!... She is always trying to shock us, by we know she is a great girl.

  16. I just took a quick look at Inkscape, and I don't have the AR Berkley font!!! Anyone know where it can be found? Its not on dafonts.com. ...of course, immediately after typing this, I find it at https://fontzone.net/download/ar-berkley. I should not be allowed near a keyboard before coffee....

  17. Brenda, That was it thanks soo much. A year or so ago my computer crashed and I lost some of my fonts. When I pull a pattern up in Inkscape and the font is not in my computer it just puts something random in its place. Got it back............Thanks soo much.

    Baltic Birch Ply

I always get mine 5 x 5 from a cabinet makers store. They have all sorts of crazy wood in there. I keep it near a window, i live near the ocean. I noticed that it was chipping quite a bit for some reason. Moved it to a new location away from the window and a few weeks later it seemed to not chip so much anymore so it made me think that it had something to do with the environment.

    Ordered New Banner

Make a PVC divider and cover it with a piece of cheap fabric. Weight it down with concrete blocks stand bags, sand in gym socks tied off. A couple of these can cut the wind. If you use a tent, put fabric between the legs and weight the legs. RJF PVC-stage-backdrop-or-room-divider.pdf

  26. As you may or may not know, from some of my previous posts, I have a grandson who is a captain in the Army Special Forces. I ran across this pattern on Sue Mey's site and just had to buy it and make it for him. It is made from BB Ply and it approx. 11 inches. I know he will like it and I will be able to give it to him personally because I will be seeing him at the wedding we are going to in Portland, at the end of May. Dick heppnerguy

  28. There are people that have Ipads running or things like that. Portable DVD players set up if you have the room. But what that can do is draw a crowd and block the sales table and all people do is watch movies. I have been to shows where there is crafters with their saws but again people stop and watch but does not necessarily mean more sales. You do need more help if you are doing that though. Those things work well if you are selling tools and you are demonstrating the tool. Doing it for a finished product not so much.

I think here in the US, we just go drinking. My 21st, I was at sea, poking holes in the ocean, studying up for watchstation quals and seriously questioning some decisions in life. LOL They look great, though!

VERY TRUE... I think the photo of the saw might help a little.. but.. then.. many don't have any kind of idea what a scroll saw is a does anyway so even with the picture.. may not make a difference for some folks.. LOL

  49. I did this, .. I lost my mare a couple of years back and I've never quite got over it. This piece reminded me of her so I cut it. She roamed free in the garden and was a sweet thing and absolutely loved playing with my grandchildren and my puppies, I'll never forget her.

    Another Inlay.

Been really busy trying to get things finished up for the Denton, TX Arts and Jazz Festival April 26th - 28th. I found this clip art on Etsy. I made the plaque out of beech and walnut.
