  1. Sorry that I have been neglecting posting my work. I moved from Sacramento to Kansas City, and that took up a lot of my spare time. When I finally got my new workshop set up, I was able to start scrolling again.

  8. Well, I finally got this cut.. Thanks @JimErn for making the pattern for me.. Cut this yesterday on the New Hawk using a Pegas #5 blade.. Finished it this morning with the beeswax mineral oil mix I made the other day in my video I posted in the general forum.. I'll update that later with my thoughts on the "yellow" wax.. Also will post on my pattern request page for this pattern as I made some changes to the design as i went.. noticed there where some floaters.. but all went well. I did drill a hole in what I had planed to cut out but realized it before actually cutting..but you might notice a single hole by the running board / side pipes area.. had i cut this the side pipe would have fell off.. Anyway great design.. cutting was easy and a pleasure to do..

    Gotta love birthdays

Mine is coming up next week, we go to Vegas for a week in April (after I get taxes filed) and August, our b-day months, so I send the kids a wish list from amazon. Amazon delivers, I get what I want, heh heh a score of threads or so ago, someone mentioned using magnetic sign material on the scroll saw deck (what is it deck, table, surface you cut on, flat piece, doohickey?), so that was one of the things in the wish list. It came in, I cut it to size, nice! wood slides so easily - thank you for whoever suggested it, took off my mdf overlay first of course

    Quick 'N Simple

Saw @meflick's post on her little guitar pick boxes and decided to make on for my guitar playing son. Nice easy way to use up some little pieces of wood. The top and bottom are Black Limba wood, I do not know what the middle is.

  11. Father's day will be upon us soon so here's a nice sentimental sign. Nothing says Father's day like a fist bump. I cut the sign from variegated wood I constructed from assorted scrap pieces I had lying around. The base is from sapele wood and it is layered on top of a piece of pine. Simple and direct. The pattern is free on my FREE PATTERN PAGE.

  13. Dang, some really neat stuff here. I don't have much in the line of critters. I have made my grandson a couple wood trucks, not critters. I did make him this dragon, he likes dragons. It is called the Time Keeper or something and was suppose to hold a clock, but for some reason I pictured him holding a crystal ball.

Thanks so much to Paul aka @grampa for the fantastic pattern. This was left unframed at the customer's request. Cut with a Flying Dutchman No3 from 4mm marine ply (Baltic Birch is not available here in NZ) with 3mm painted MDF backer. Thanks for looking. Rob

  19. I made this welcome sign for my mother recently. I made her a fall one and she hinted about needing one for spring. I found an image on the internet that I used to draw the bird and branch, then added the words below. I did put it on a backer, but couldn't find that photo. Mom loved it, and what could be better than that.

  21. The Yorkie I made for an aunt, for Christmas. She's always got an emotional-support-Yorkie. The Dane, made him for my wife after we lost our first Dane, Rebel, to bloat. Smartest dog I've ever met (including the Husky we fostered....that dog was smart, but had to be part weasel, too, so Rebel the Dane took first place in my heart). Both have an open section on them, but were cut on my first scroll saw, the weekend I picked it up from a yard sale. I hadn't looked up the manual online yet, so wasn't really sure how to change the blades or what size hole to drill. The rusty blade in the saw still worked, though, and didn't break until my next project. The flying unicorns, I'd figured out blades, found a local source of 3" pin-ended blades (Ace Hardware), and figured out which drill bit to use for pilot holes. These still hang on my daughter's wall.

    Cuts in a pattern

Hi Katie, Hi Bob Katie's answer puts you on the right track bring your pattern into Inkscape, do a TRACE BITMAP, BREAK APART then select the parts that need to be drilled this will bring you very close to how many you have to do - I just tried this so I know it works...lol I think I just said what Katie said but in different terms - thanks Katie Fab4

  25. My wife likes Leopards.. so I made her this Leopard for our anniversary a few years ago.. wrote a little love note on the back. hangs in our bedroom.. Then also.. My mother passed away when I was like 10 years old from cancer.. and she collected owls.. anything owl she loved it.. so in memory of her I made these owls.. Before my daughter knew about my mothers liking owls she took a liking to them too.. so I've made these and they hang in our house as well.. The wolf picture is something I made for my daughters 4th grade class..to auction off as a fund raiser to take a class trip to Mackinac Island.. it was the last year the school was taking that trip due to cuts and funding for class trips and without the fund raisers they wasn't going to go.. fortunately they did raise enough to take the trip.. This was a while ago because my daughter is in the second year of college now, LOL

  30. A selection from my toy making days. I used to see yellow, my hair would be yellow, my clothes everything was yellow when I made the ducks. Besides the ull alongs like in the photo I used to make flappers that had a handle that you'd push and their feet, made out of vinyl would flap on the ground. I'd do dozens at a time as I just couldn't keep up with them. From memory they sold for about $20 each. All the googly eyes are recessed and superglued in place

  31. I did this, .. I lost my mare a couple of years back and I've never quite got over it. This piece reminded me of her so I cut it. She roamed free in the garden and was a sweet thing and absolutely loved playing with my grandchildren and my puppies, I'll never forget her.

  32. I'll jump in. This project is a grasshopper pull toy I made several years ago. It was a big hit with the kids that got it. Primarily, it was a bandsaw - drill press project. The wheels cut with a hole saw. The axles, 1/4" dowel stock. The joints for the legs, eyes and ends of the antennas were all from a craft store. The antennas themselves were electrical wire left at the garage when we purchased the house 32 years ago. The concept was from a woodworker on another site. I'm sure there will be some great items from the intarsia, segmentation folks.

    Shop Sign

Been working on this for 2 months! Been sick the last 7 to 10 days. Thanks to all that took the time to make patterns for the words, very much appreciated. Used Maple and Walnut. The buttons are for looks only, mounted from the inside of the shop. Didn't realize how bad the shop door needs painted. I also try to save the pattern when I remove them from the piece,, I was able to use it to spray paint the inside of the door.
