  1. This is a Steve Good Pattern for a Woven Basket with a few changes. Firstly I enlarged to 6 inches in order to incorporate a 5 inch cocktail napkin. Used on 4 layers instead of 8. Top and bottom 1/4 walnut. Boss approved.

    Chopper

“Get to da choppah!” Lol. Quick Steve Good pattern for the father-in-law of my wife’s best friend. It is cut out of 1/2” Red Oak with a 1/2” Padauk base. I made it double sized so it is 21 1/2" long...

  3. Steve Good has given us thousand of patterns but the thing I use most is his Key Chain maker. I have done a couple hundred keys chains as gifts. Quick and easy and very well appreciated as a lot of kids have never had a personalized gift. New scrollers may not know of this great program as it is way way down his blog. http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/ I have just complete one for each of the lacrosse team with their name and number. I add ball chain as these go on their travel bag. One thing about this font is there are some special characters that are useful too. I did one for my wife with a heart at each end and the sports team I do with a star before number. The special characters are the chart below. ;-semi colon ; ,-comma-colon , .-period . /-slash / [-sq parenthesis [ ]-sq parenthesis {]

    Lucky Spin Pattern

I thought I'd try adding a bit of animation to a sign, so I came up with this roulette type wheel that can be added to the base. The pattern has all the parts and is easy to assemble. I made the post for the wheel from 1/4" birch ply and used a dowel to have the wheel spin on it. The arrow is glued to the end of the dowel as a marker for the symbols and also keeps the wheel from coming off. No special significance to the symbols you can manufacture a game of your own, or use just numbers to make a spinner for monopoly, if you like. Download Free Pattern VIDEO ALERT: I've put up a video on YouTube mainly for beginners on how I attach my signs to bases and I also included a little tip on how to spray the signs without getting drip or run off. If you care to view it I've posted it on my YouTube Channel.

    Dremel Router Fix

It's a done deal. I just ordered it. $72.17. Do I need it? No. I don't drink, smoke, have a Corvette, have an affair or anything. My mid life crisis was uneventful so I feel I owe myself the jig. I'll post when it arrives.

    Rams

If you like rams this sign is for you. Always amazed at the power of their head butting. I cut mine from a piece of maple and from the off cut I shaped a nice base for it. Free pattern:

    Jewish Carpenter

Spent the afternoon in the shop with an outlaw Jewish carpenter. I fastened it to the backer with horseshoe nails. It turned out looking like a wanted poster but I thought that was appropriate.

  10. Great gift for a new baby. I cut mine from a fancy grained poplar 1/4". I had a short blank made from pieces of scrap I had and wanted to use it for the base, but it was too short, unless I used it diagonally. So I improvised a cut around the edges to make an interesting variegated base for the sign to sit upon. Don't like wasting wood if I can help it. Pattern

  13. Thank you. Rick did alot of Victorian style patterns and back in the day oak was the wood of choice in homes for this style and that is what got me started with working with oak. I use to do this is natural and some people wanted it a bit darker so I would stain. I always used Watco Danish oil and that is what is on this. I made magazine racks which the light one was his pattern and the deer one is mine. But to show the 2 different colors I offered back then.

    Alleluia banner

The pastor at our church asked me if I could design an Alleluia banner for our Easter service. This is what I came up with. I designed the pattern using Inkscape and cut it on my DeWalt scroll saw. It measures 19" x 19" and was cut from 1/4" oak plywood. I put a 1/4" birch backer behind it that I painted black. It was a hit when we unveiled it Sunday morning!

    Second Verse

Some time ago I did a picture of two hawks from a pattern by @grampa. He did two patterns of hawks that I really liked. Tonight, after a long time I finished the second one. Thank you Grampa, for the excellent patterns. They were both a pleasure to cut, I only hope I did them justice. The one on the left is the first one I did, the right is the one I finished this evening. Both are cut in Basswood. I love cutting Basswood.

    Reboot!

Cut one of my own patterns this past week. Took a lot longer than expected due to an...unfortunately expected....death in the family, necessitating a 3.5-hour drive through some nasty storms (sunny the day before....sunny the day after....go figger.) plus the obligatory family visits and get-togethers in the days following the funeral. I guess I'm the one introvert in a family of extroverts, further support to my claim that I'm adopted. This one's going to work with me (I'm in IT). 3/4" "whiteboard" (aka Lowes-Pine), finished with Minwax's Dark Walnut. Also managed to build a frame for a yard hammock (my wife was thrilled) and put up a shelf over my workbench (my wife was less thrilled with the holes in the garage walls). Been a busy weekend.

    Couple Of New Clocks..

Did a lot of cutting this week out in the shop trying to restock sold out inventory, but... always trying to ad some new inventory as well so I made these new ones too.. The Camaro was a custom order.. but I don't really like the design.. It looked great on paper.. but not so much in the wood..Anyone else ever find that to be true sometimes?

  26. That Dust Stopper looks like a pretty neat set-up. I have a Dust Deputy on my shop vac and that thing is the Bees Knees. Works great with my random orbit sanders. I do see a potential issue. I didn't watch the whole video, so maybe he addressed it. I wonder if that stacked configuration makes it more apt to tip over if you tug too hard on the vac hose? I have my Dust Deputy attached in a side-by-side set up. That one looks like it could get a little tippy.

    Dremel Router Fix

I see what you mean but in looking at the one for $62, it looks to me that by removing the two knurled wheels below the carrier, it could be "plunged". Maybe I'm wrong but it sure looks that way. They sure do look like some well-made tools though.

  34. Well, I finally got this cut.. Thanks @JimErn for making the pattern for me.. Cut this yesterday on the New Hawk using a Pegas #5 blade.. Finished it this morning with the beeswax mineral oil mix I made the other day in my video I posted in the general forum.. I'll update that later with my thoughts on the "yellow" wax.. Also will post on my pattern request page for this pattern as I made some changes to the design as i went.. noticed there where some floaters.. but all went well. I did drill a hole in what I had planed to cut out but realized it before actually cutting..but you might notice a single hole by the running board / side pipes area.. had i cut this the side pipe would have fell off.. Anyway great design.. cutting was easy and a pleasure to do..

  37. It's not that we can't have it but the stores can't sell it to us. If we have it they can't take it. I have a quart that I bought 4 or 5 years ago but when it's gone I would have to travel out of So Cal to buy more. It's just stupid air quality control. I'm really surprised that we can still pass gas.

  39. Not sure how JT does it... but I use a throw away aluminum foil pan from the dollar store.. it's just a pan for like baking stuff in.. or.. I sometimes also use the plastic storage containers.. The foil pan is better for larger items though.. but the plastic container one could use the lid and just store the Danish oil in it.. But.. you'd need to use it fairly quick or it'd go bad.. Anyway I use these and just dip the project into the Danish oil.. depending on the wood type as to whether I let it soak up a while or just a quick dip.. I then pull out the project and set it on a pile of paper towels and drip for a few minutes.. then wipe off excess and set on another pile of paper towels... I have a fire pit and any towels that have oil on them.. I run them out and burn them so they won't catch fire... bet that make sense don't it..

  45. Just wanted to give an update on the Seyco Drill being discussed here and noted to be out of stock now for months. I reached out to Ray and Seyco earlier this morning to ask about this as I have looked at them off and on, but was always put off a little by the price of it so wasn't sure I wanted to spend that much on it. This is the reply on got in reply to my question as to whether they would be getting them back in stock or if it had been discontinued: "We have had numerous delays from materials sources that has obviously caused us to have to delay producing the new design made necessary from unavailability of former materials. We are anxiously awaiting a promised delivery that should allow us to finish the tools and be back in operation within 30 days. We apologize for this unavoidable set of circumstances and appreciate you hanging in there with us. We promise they will be ready as soon as we can get our hands on materials needed to assemble the drills." I asked that they notify me when they had them back so I could decide if I wanted one or not. If they do, I will post here in the Village for others interested. @Dave Monk can you elaborate a bit on your statement that you wish it was built a bit better? Kevin - let us know how you like your setup. I have looked at some of those - I have also asked hubby to make me something similar to the Seyco tool - time is his factor more then anything else. I just haven't pushed it to the head of the list. Maybe I should. It looks relatively simple to make. What I like is the ability to move it around on a project and get to all areas easily.
