    Garage

G'day all, I have just completed this piece by Sam Custodio. It took some time, as I only cut it for about 1/4 - 1/2 an hour at a time between doing other jobs in the shed. This was a real challenge. I stack cut 2 from 4mm Hoop Pine ply, backed with 3mm MDF. 2 coats of 30% gloss lacquer. I am altering the wording on the other one, will post a pic when it's done. Frame pine stained and lacquered with Automotive gloss clear. I used FD New Spiral #1 and FDUR #2 It is 530mm x 300mm I don't mind admitting that I spilled a bit of sweat over this.

    Toys

Finished a couple of puzzles and name train The train is for my Niece's nipper. The puzzles have been painted with acrylic and top coated with gloss clear lacquer. I couldn't get the eyes right, so reverted to Googly eyes. I drilled a shallow hole the same size as the eyes and super glued them in. They are there for good. I use this method on my 3d (Standing puzzles).

  3. Did another one today with a doe and fawn. I used a free paper cutting template for the deer. Got my inspiration from Kimberly Francis. My daughter drew the happy little tree. The font is called Daydreamer, I tweaked it on Inkscape. It’s 9” x 12” on 3/4 pine.

    Cornhole boards

Another project with my other son. Just a cornhole set hand painted by myself and middle son. I built and stenciled the boards. He did a decent job, (I have a lot of cleanup painting to do)

  14. Scrollsaw Hero: Steve Good Table Sign Pattern Ok. Here's something a little different. It's my tribute to that Sultan of Scrollsawing, that Guru of the kerf, Steve Good. We all know of his work and giant contribution to the art of the scrollsaw. Personally, just about everything I've learned about this art has come from watching Steve Good. So I thought it about time he has his own sign. Hope you enjoy cutting it. Thank you Steve for all you have done. I cut mine from cherry wood and mounted it on a top layer sharp cut graphic which sits upon a pine slab. Free Pattern

  15. i think i have posted before that Dyslexia has kicked my but my whole life. it is not that i can not read but long reads become a jumble of words that loose a lot of meaning until i have read it many times. this is why i always "wait for the movie". being a fan of Adam Savage of Mythbusters became a downer knowing he had written a book that i am sure would not make it to film. when the preface was released it took me 4 readings over 5 days to remember only 25% of what i had read. THEN i found he recorded the audiobook himself. i got it 2 weeks ago and it is wonderful! it was great to hear that i had so much in common with this "Maker" of so many things and learning many more i did not know that i am now on my 3rd listen. not because i couldn't remember but because i find it so entertaining that he reads it like he is talking straight to me. so weather you are a reader or like to listen to something while you work i recommend this book. i made this from a photo of adam while i listened the first time. 3D adam savage.mp4

    New saw

I just pulled the trigger on a pegas saw. Not sure how long till I get it tho. I’ve been looking for an ex for a while now but I decided to go the pegas route. Too much manufacturing confusion with the Ex.

  19. Air Traffic Controllers Table Sign Pattern Not sure if there is much demand for a sign like this, but if you know someone in the field of aviation it might make an interesting gift. If nothing else you can get some experience at cutting a lot of objects in an art piece like this. This is a complex little sign with the lettering, station, clouds and airplane, but not really difficult to cut. I cut mine from poplar and used the cut off to shape a rambling base. The free pattern above is available for download on my FREE PATTERNS page linked from the Index page on my website.

    Saturday sales.

Have your wife get a hold of a few pounds of rice. Fill an athletic sock with the rice. Heat it with a microwave. It will conform to any part of your back. If it's too hot, wrap it in a towel. By the way, just tie a knot at the opening Been living with a bad lower back for 20 years. RJF

    New saw

Yeah I saw woodcraft add also. Actually a little cheaper too. But I purchased it through Bear woods cuz I rather give them the business. Haha that’s what happened to me I himmed and hawed about an Ex for so long the Pegas came out in the meantime. It took me a while to actually upgrade because (I’m sure some will think I’m crazy) but I love my Poter cable and just never saw the need for an upgrade. Still no need for upgrade. But I just want it.

    Cornhole boards

I am sorry for not explaining the boards. It is a game played with 2 - 2ft x 4ft boards and 8 - 1 pound weighted bags filled with dried corn. (They use corn in the bags because it will break down and add dust to the boards). The spacing between the holes is 30ft and you play with 2 teams of 2. Each team alternates throws behing the front of the board, and whoever gets a score of 21 first wins. Each bag on the board counts as 1 point. Each bag in the hole counts as 3 points. All points are cancelled if other team matches points. This game is played by a lit of people here in the states during holidays and football games. In other words - buy drunk people. I hope this helps somewhat for those who do not know.

    Need some opinions

I sell all my portrait work un-framed... but I do state they are designed to be framed since I make them from 1/8 material some are quite fragile.. What the customer actually does I don't know.. I do put a backer on them.. not felt though since I don't care for felt.. I use foam sheets from the craft stores.. I used to sell them framed.. but I tend to sell them better unframed.. I don't like framed because everyone has a different frame taste for every project.. and what matches their decor style... sometimes I display them in a frame but I don't sell it framed..

    New saw

Best of luck with it - I've read mostly very good reviews regarding those. The only not good thing I read I believe was due to personal choice rather than anything actually an issue with the saw. If I were in the market for a saw, I would take a good look at that one

    New saw

I started with a porter cable, IMO it would not be a fair comparison even though I have an EX and not the Pegas. The PC does have a build in light I liked and the blower is stronger. The PC cut very nicely, but the fixed upper arm was a real pain sometimes since I am a bottom feeder.

    New saw

I've heard nothing but good reports on the Pegas saw. I see where Woodcraft now sells the Pegas saw. I saw their online ad. There was some delay re availability and it is shipped to your home. Not sure if they will carry it in their stores. bb
