  1. I have always loved going to stores like Goodwill and Salvation Army where I got into the habit of buying old wooden plates. When designs are cut in them they hang flat on the wall and make great Plaques. They were easy to cut because of the raised edge you can hold onto.

    Alex Fox With a Twist

I decided to make one of Alex Fox’s baskets with a Kokopelli inlay. The basket itself is Baltic Birch, the inlay is from a scrap piece of lacewood. I think it really makes this basket more interesting.

    New Tissue box designs.

Some tissue boxes I finished. The rose is Tasmanian Oak with Jarrah trim, I Sold this one at Sunday's Markets and have orders for another 2. The others are Pine and Jarrah. I don't think I have posted these designs before.

  4. This post will have a few pics. Hope you all won’t be too bored. I had an Amish company build and deliver the basic structure itself. I had them build it 6” taller than their standard height, with insulated doors and windows, and with closed cell insulation. It is 12’ x 24’ and a 5000 BTU window AC keeps it plenty comfortable in summer and a 110v oil radiator keeps it warm in winter. The interior was just the exposed spray foam and I covered the walls with OSB plywood and the ceiling with Luan plywood. I trimmed it out with whatever 1x4’s I had had around and ripped them down to 1x3 and used the cuts to trim corners. I call my trim work “tree house” carpentry, but I wanted a rustic look. All of my tool racks and cabinets are hanging on French cleats to allow for modular changes with the exception of the peg boards , which will ultimately be replaced. One regret? I wish I had made it bigger. Thanks for looking.

  10. I put these together for a little scroll saw competition. As luck would have it, i took first place. I made these pokemon using Padauk, Yellow-Heart, Maple, bloodwood, poplar and wenge for the backer; No stains or paints involved. These range from roughly 3" - 5"; I attached magnets to the back and have them displayed on my fridge.

  11. I almost always do the clean-up every day too.. I use to be for sure every day cleaning up the saw and around the saw etc etc.. but lately I've been slacking on that part.. it's been every few days anyway but I've also been really busy with orders so they've had me running.. Mostly because my brother is visiting from NH and I only get to see him about every 5 years.. however his wife passed a couple years ago and they had planed to come that year.. so it's really been about 8 years so.. trying to spend as much time as I could with him and get my orders out.. He is headed back home early in the morning tomorrow which will free up a little time..

  13. Just my opinion, FD-PS and FR-PSR have been my go to blades for soft and thinner woods for a long time. Usually in #2 size. I have the tried the Pegas and they work fine but I find I use a size larger #3 where I would normally use a #2 FD. I also find they are a little more aggressive than the FD. Can't say I really like one over the other. They are the same but a little different....... I don't really think it would be worth changing if you are happy with the FD blades.... But you may find differently.

  15. Nice shop! Looks cozy. My basement shop is about the same size, but my use of the wall space isn't as good as yours. You could always add on to yours. That isn't really an option with mine.

  16. Aw, man, I'm sooooo jealous!!! My shop is in an un-airconditioned/un-heated garage (in Texass). I have to go in the house for something outta the fridge, and my wife is constantly fussing about the layer of sawdust coating the outside of her minivan...even if I back it into the driveway before I start cutting. To have space....cooled/heated space....with beverage options...and room for up-to-date tools.....yeah. Jealous. :)

  19. I seriously clean up, vacuum, and return tools to their respective places every day before I quit for the day. Oily rags go into a metal can. Dust is my enemy, both from a finishing perspective, and as a health issue.

  26. Three Headed Dinosaur Puzzle Pattern Why a three headed dinosaur? Well, everybody knows that three heads are better than one. Ok, it's just interesting. Might make a fun puzzle for children, especially if you make up a story to go along with it. Bonus pattern also included in this PDF. Download from my Free Page:

  27. Been months ago since he made it for me and I cut it the next day.but my PC won,t upload so I,m using my cell phone too.i used 1/4" oak from the big box store as I don,t like splitting wood on the table saw.the box of the soldiers and letters fell off the shelf and lots of things broke or lost now.but you .can see what I have left.thevsoldiers ate 2.5" tall and the letters 1.5" tall.i think it will be easier to make the 7 letters that fell into oblivia.that,s for looking

Most of these was sent to other countries but there are a few I've run up on.. I wish I had saved the pictures I had of one that I looked at last year.. I hadn't heard of this Glendo made one and it's so similar that I had to ask.. if anyone else knew anything about them..

    Retired?

Retired: Not My Problem Table Sign Pattern I had a job once, I think....Many years ago in a galaxy far far away. I've been retired for about 15 years and loving every minute of it. When you think back on it, it's funny how many problems you were involved in or had to solve over the years. Now I can do pretty much whatever I want. Don't be afraid of retirement. This sign says it all. I cut mine from cherry and mounted it on an improvised top layer of cherry from the off cut. I sat the whole thing on a thin slab of sapele to finish it off. 44. I use Peachtree bits along with MLCS bits and to me yes a complete set is a must if woodworking in a shop. I have a few complete sets and have sets up to 4" When using bigger bits you need a drill press and you need to slow it down. I do buy individual ones in sizes I use most and I have carbide ones in the 1-3/8" size because I drill billiard balls for clock inserts and that dulls a bit quickly. I have learned to sharpen them too which helps prolong the life. I would not be without them. Holesaws are fine but I usually do not want a hole to go all the way through the back side if possible. Same with scrolling them.

  45. Any familiar with both of these to make a comparison between them? I've used the FD-PS for many years, but was wondering how the Pegas DST perform. They seem to be similar in tooth configuration. I really like the FD-PSR for staying cool and not burning the wood. Most times I am running my saw at full speed and the blade can heat up quickly. Just wondering if Pegas version will work the same?

    D&D plywood

I've never bought plywood from DND.. didn't know they sold plywood etc.. I will say bought several times from them for blades and drill bits.. Those small drill bits have been the best I've found..and they come in little plastic tubes so you can store them like you do blades.. Anyway.. their service has always been top notch for me.. If I placed an order today it's be in my mail in two says usually.. Wish I could say about he plywood quality.. But I cannot.. I will say many times it's more about the pallets of ply they get in.. My local source for BB Ply said many times the good one side is as good as the two side stuff.. and they have had blemished stuff that was supposed to be good two sides.. as if they mix in a few bad from time to time. Might have just been end of shift or a switch over at the factory... I typically buy the cheaper one and do my own sorting.. I have to say if you specifically buy good two sides then that is what you should get.. since most times the good one side is as good as the good two sides.. Does the plywood they sell say good two sides? I'd give them a call or email and ask what the quality of the ply is.. They may specifically look for good two side if you request it.. they seem to be a quality company with awesome customer service..
