These were real popular years ago.. was going through inventory and ran across them.. Use to sell them on my website but then when I shut the site down they never made it to any of the other sites.. Guess I better get them up for grabs again.. Amazing how many projects I've made that either never made it to the websites or I move websites around and never get them all back online... Anywaythese was one of my favorite to make.. and sell.. somehow they got lost with my A.D.D. Pink for girls and blue for boy... also did green for neutral not pictured These are cut from 1/4" BB ply and I used a foam sheet backer and then screwed small screws in to hold the sawtooth hanger..4 points -

Was looking for a gemini 8 patch logo and stumbled upon Nasa's website with all sorts of logos. Obviously respect copyright laws and such and have to make your own patterns but the possibilities are limitless!! https://images.nasa.gov/search-results?q=&keywords=LOGO&page=1&media=image,video,audio&yearStart=1920&yearEnd=20193 points

I worked with a guy who had a cap on his front tooth fall out. He decided it would be a good fix to use CA to glue it back in until he could get in to the dentist. Worked like a charm except that not only did he firmly affix the cap but he also managed to glue his finger to the tooth. Had a time trying to fix that new problem.3 points

Hi to all who live on the Western side of the Mississippi River. I made up an order of woods that I needed and submitted it to Cherokee Wood Products a couple of days ago. I decided to make the 2 hour round trip to go see the operation and actually meet Chris. I'm sure glad I did. He is a great young man and it was a pleasure to meet him. He showed me around the entire yard. They have been there for 25 years and it's a great place. Lots to see. Anyway, for making the trip out there, he gifted me some of the stuff that they can't sell. I came home with a load of great wood. They also have boxes of cutoffs that they sell. I highly recommend that you folks give them a try. And if you do, take the time to try to get hold of Chris and give him your order. Especially if you need any custom milling. I needed a piece of walnut in 3/8" thickness. They don't offer it but they milled it for me for a minimal charge. I now have enough wood that I won't need to go back for a good while but when the time comes, I'll be hot-footing it back out there once again. Cherokeewood.com2 points -

Was trying to figure out some things with some rescued wood. I do not know the species of any except the lighter colored horse; I believe to be oak The bases are about 1-1/2 in thick and the length is about 3-1/2 inches with them being just over 4" tall.. Very open to suggestions on the final finish coating! Thanks. Pattern? is a modified silhouette from free internet sources.2 points -
Dad & Son Table Sign Pattern Well, the tree is made of wood and the guitar is made from the wood of the tree, so I guess you could call it Father and Son. In any even this might make a good gift for a musician or just a general sign for a dad. I cut mine from cherry and used the off cut to make an interesting serrated base to mount it on. You can download the free pattern from my Free Pattern Page:2 points

Ya know, the sad part to all this is how most of the victims seem to be senior citizens. I don't like to think that just because I'm on a pension, I suddenly got so vulnerable. If you know you've paid your taxes, if you know there's no such thing as a free lunch, then you should know what these are. Don't be a victim! Jim2 points

Never heard of that, but agree, that if you are curious, there is no harm in trying it. My gut tells me that if you aren't having luck with spirals, you won't have luck with this method either, but who knows? Worth a shot. If nothing else, I'd be interested in hearing the results.2 points -
Nasty one Brenda, Glad it seems to be healing up OK. Quite a few years ago when I used to do archery, I made a mate a box for his bow. arrows and other bits and pieces. He lined it with a felt type material. When using Super glue to fix clamps for the arrows, it produced quite a bit of smoke. Just the other week I glued I got a few drops on my fingers and glued two of them together. I had a tube of "Debonder", I used the whole bloody tube and fingers still stuck. Hot water and perseverance finally gave me back the ability to scratch my ear2 points

Hi Brenda: Why would ever doubt the wisdom of old timer who loves half naked ladies I do not use spirals - but give it a shot and let us know how it works Heck, I may even try it, and I never heard of trying this either Fab42 points

Just a short update from a long inactive member. I was serving as a full-caregiver for my 98 yr old Mother until she passed in Oct. I then decided to downsize so bought a small house with nice shop building but moving into something less than half the size creates all kinds of problems. Finally got the move made with the help of some great friends in January. Of course nothing seems to go smoothly. I went out early one morning to get the trash out for pickup and didn't notice that we had received some ice overnight. I fell off the back porch which is about 3 steps up and had 2 fractures and a dislocated foot. It is disconcerting to look down and see your foot dangling off the end of your leg held on only by the skin. I did manage to crawl back into the house and call for help. Within 4 hrs, I was in surgery having a plate and screws putting me back together. This was followed by 5 weeks of being house bound as I was not allowed to put any weight on that leg. Talk about boring. I was going crazy, especially as my new Pegas scrollsaw came and all I could do was set and look at it. Finally convinced my caregivers to let me set it up in the kitchen attached to a shop vac so I could actually try it out and LOVE it. Last week I was pulling weeds in a flower bed and it turns out that they were poison oak so I broke out in a very itchy rash all over. After a shot, it is clearing up and hopefully my tribulations have ended for a while unless you count being under a tornado warning every night. So far we have only gotten rain. A lady is selling rain gauges made from a 5 gal. bucket. Enough of me as I am back to cutting and working on some things for a wedding. It is good to be back.1 point

I was talking today with an old friend (85yrs young) who used to be a teacher in woodworking for many years. Scrolling, turning, furniture making the whole kit and caboodle. We were talking about scrolling as he loves some of my pieces (especially the half naked lady) and I was telling him about my failed attempts with spiral blades. He smiled and said ''try twisting one of your flat blades a full turn before you fasten it in the clamp'' he reckons it will cut very nicely. Now, I promised him I would try and would let him know how I got on. This is something I have never heard of before, so I'm asking everyone before I even attempt this.... Have you ever tried this ?1 point

I ordered this starter kit from amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NBZLZ8X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 there are other colors too If you order the parts separately, it uses with an adhesive, this starter kit uses paint instead. Seems to work though. Use sanding sealer before starting this, on the area to be flocked. Other than that, I blue taped the area, painted it (heavy layer), then sprayed the flocking materiel. Put the item being flocked in a tupperware container, when you are done and it is dry, turn the item over tap it a few times and the excess falls off. when you spray spray a lot of it, much more than you think you need. then you can reclaim the unused flocking material. thanks for the kind words1 point

Well, I tried it and it does work. I went very slowly, in fact I stood at arms length from the saw to turn it on just in case. Don't know if I expected it to blow up or something, but I sure looked very silly I think perhaps he scrolled before they made spirals or maybe in post war Britain there were none to be had. But one thing is sure, although the technique works it's an awful pain in the fingers trying to hold a blade and twist it 360 and then clamp it. I for one will be practicing with my spirals in future.1 point

Haven't done much cutting lately. Just finished installing new kitchen cabinets and counter tops. That will take up a whole lot of your time,, and money! I made one of these earlier this year for a neighbor to give to his church. Showed some people the pic of it and a guy at work wanted 2. Baltic Birch plywood on a piece of Walnut.1 point

Thanks to bobscroll for some awesome patterns! I made this out of some leftover flooring just to see how it would turn out. I plan to make several of these signs of my hometown (this sign), my current home town and everyplace my wife and I have vacationed. I will hang them up out on my back porch up on a big Cypress beam that goes clear around the porch. I probably won't use this flooring material, too hard to cut for one and not weatherproof. Although the area that I will hang them is out of the direct elements. I will probably use Cedar. Thanks again, Bob!1 point

Wax My Eyeballs Table Sign Ok, if you are looking for an interesting conversation piece cut out this sign and place it on your desk in public. Guaranteed to draw attention. Nobody will know the meaning of this phrase, but I'm sure many people will have opinions and some might be quite hilarious. I cut mine from a radical piece of wood. I used a piece of rough flooring made of compressed plywood. If you need a piece of this wood stop by a local house construction project and I'm sure you will find lots of this discarded by the road. The wood is wild in surface patterns so it makes for a crazy design. Download the pattern from my Free Pattern Page:1 point

Blades are cheap so why not? My stepfather use to put a flat blade in with the teeth pointed up to cut plastic. Never saw him do it, just noticed he blade was clamped that way and told him about it. He said he did it purposely. Maybe he just wanted to sound like it wasn't a mistake. lol1 point

I feel so stupid for not thinking of that. So embarrassing!1 point

Pegas blades are very easily broken.. If you bend it,,, it'll usually snap at that bend very soon,, FD UR blades can handle those bends and twist much better from my experience anyway...1 point

Newbie needs help with saw blades
Clayton717 reacted to meflick for a topic
Hi Tony and welcome to the Village. I am not familiar with that machine. Does it have a blade already installed on it? If so, you may want to remove it and take a good look at it. There are basically two main “types” of Scroll Saw blades used with most saws. They are pin-end or pinless. you will want to figure out what kind your machine uses. (Some will accept both.) Pinless is better because it allows you to use smaller (thinner) blades because you can drill smaller holes. Blades with a “pin end” require a bigger hole to be drilled so that you can insert the larger pin-end through After that there are spiral blades and straight blades. Some people swear by spiral blades while others hate them. Most people recommend that beginners use straight blades to start. Then later after you are comfortable cutting with your saw, you can give spiral blades a try. After that, the blades come in different sizes, and “styles”. The smaller the number, the smaller the blade. So a 1 is much smaller then a 9 or 12. How big or small of a blade to use is dictated by several things including the type of wood being used, how big the hole you need to insert it through, type of cutting you are doing, and more. For most general cutting, most probably reach for a 3 or 5 but it really depends on the end user’s personal preferences. Then after “size” you will find there are some additional features like “reverse” teeth - this is where the bottom few teeth are “reversed” the thought being that by doing that, it reduces the tear out on the bottom of the piece. There are others that I won’t go into full details on like a skip tooth and more. Once you understand the basics about the blades, then you find there are different brands/manufacturers of blades. Some people use different and.various brands, like Olsen, Flying Dutchman, Pegasus, and many more. Others stick to one brand. It’s all really personal preference, you just have to decide what you prefer. you can do a quick google search and find lots of details and info about Scroll Saw blades. however, here is a Link to Steve Good’s blog where he has shared a lot of info. On blades over the years and you can find them here: http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/search?q=Blades Steve shares a lot of great information plus a free pattern almost daily on his site so it’s a great place for a newbie to the Saw to look back through. Here is another article from Woodcraft’s site: https://www.woodcraft.com/blog_entries/choosing-scroll-saw-blades and an article from Scrollsaw Woodworking & Crafts magazine: http://scrollsawer.com/2017/09/06/choosing-the-right-blade/1 point -
OMG, you are so right, I'd forgotten about that. I left a pan on the stove and it was so burnt the house was full of smoke and I burnt my throat and lungs going in to turn it off. Tony wasn't home then either, perhaps I should ban him from leaving the house !!1 point

Brenda, I think you are in need of closer supervision as it was not that long ago you had a serious injury to your throat wasn’t it? it looks painful, I am glad it wasn’t worse and prayers said for a quick and easy full healing. I manage to do my own “oops” but so far, nothing this bad. I am usually sanding some part of my finger or hand or cutting myself it seems. Why I leave the heavy lifting with the table saw to my DH.1 point

Travis, I contacted the seller of this work on eBay to see if they had the pattern or could send me to the designer/cutter/creator. They told me that they only sell the finished products and all the rights and licenses belong to the creators. They told me that they get the finished works from an outfit in Texas by the name of "The Handcrafted of Houston". So, I found their website to see if I could get some info and they won't even talk to me unless I can produce a retail tax number and send them a photocopy of my license. Not friendly at all. I just wanted to ask a question. Anyway, that's where it stands for now. I would say that if we want to just do a cutting for our own use, so be it. Tough Noogies!1 point
