Here there be dragons...
Phantom Scroller and 3 others reacted to RabidAlien for a topic
Two dragon patterns I found on Google. Cut in 3/8" BB ply (I think....they were sized right and came out of my scrap pile). Pieces are stained Dark Walnut with a clear satin lacquer, backer is neon green rattlecan with a clear glossy lacquer. These two will be the front and back panel of a dice tower (basically an enclosed box with an opening at the top and bottom, and angled baffles inside so that when you drop dice in they bounce around and roll randomly, no chance of someone trying to manipulate a roll). The right-hand dragon is shorter to leave an opening at the bottom of the tower for the dice to exit. I'll post a pic of the final product when I get it finished. I couldn't really find any good step-by-step plans, so this was mostly "take a look at a bunch of pictures and then give it a solid try".4 points -
Put the quick release on and it works well. But...as Stoney said this can be made with a bolt, spring, washer and $6 cam lever. Gonna cut some word art from !" pine and run it through some paces.4 points

Hegner Owners Please Help

Trust us, the Quick clamp is the way to go. There is a stop at the back of it to position the blade. I also have a different handle on mine.2 points -
You are welcome and not alone Les, most of us buy on impulse sometimes but like Ray said you got a great deal on the saw. I just thought maybe I could catch you in time and save you a little cash.2 points

How does your top clamp attach to the saw? Just took another look at your picture Les and the newer improved clamps will work.1 point

Very nice cutting! Can't help you about the noodle. :>)1 point -
I am no expert, but I very much recommend the Hegner Quick Clamp for the top! Its the only way to fly. It looks like you have the old style, but a Quick Clamp will fit your saw. Mine is even older than yours and the previous owner install it. https://advanced-machinery.myshopify.com/products/hegner-quickclamp1 point

Hi Brenda: Around here, you would be known as being frugal - which is a good thing Fan41 point

Door Toppers.
OCtoolguy reacted to NC Scroller for a topic
These are the other kind of door toppers. I have cut a few of the bigger ones. You have to be creative to cut a 30" piece on a 22" saw but it can be done. It is easier then you might think. They are attached with a small nail or screw. https://woodenteddybear.com/search?type=product&q=door1 point -
Thanks for bringing that up.. I'm kinda looking out for a Hegner.. Not been too many around lately... now that I have some cash.. but boy there was some deals a month or two ago when I was broke, LOL.. Real nice 22" newer one a while back for $250.. and not far from me.. I had a hard time passing on it.. but didn't want to stretch the cash too thin.. Should have bought it and then sold the older Hawk I have.. as Les said earlier "Sometimes one has to ignore good sense."1 point

Nope, I'm a cheapskate, mine are held in place with blu tack.1 point

It's rapidly becoming a $200 saw. Still not bad. I can still get the one nearby me for $200 but it has no stand. You got a great deal.1 point
-
Thanks Stoney. Unfortunately the Hegner one for $74 will arrive tomorrow. Not sure why but I sometimes do things on impulse. Never thought of the obvious but thanks anyway.1 point

Enemy Below
Scrollcrazy reacted to baggetta for a topic
ENEMY BELOW This pattern sort of reminds me of a scene from those naval war movies where the ship is quietly moving along the top of the ocean and below lurks the danger of a submarine attack. Tried to make the fullness of the ocean using a series of waves. Free pattern available http://baggetta.com/pebooks/puzzle_patterns.htm1 point -

Beautiful. I can not imagine attempting that even if it is only one hole at a time. I would not have the patience needed just to drill the pilot holes. I always admire you guys and gals who do. Forgot to say, let us know how much it ends up going for at the auction. I suspect given the audience, it will be a big hit! Thanks for showing.1 point

I just looked at the Quick clamp. It looks exactly like the old style with exception that it as a knob. Does it still mount the same way? Also what is the positive stop they speak of? I don't mind spending the money if it works better. I'm finding that aligning the blade straight into the clamp difficult. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.0 points
